City of Taylor ends Flock contract

The City of Taylor says they are removing controversial license plate readers. Today they announced that the city's contract with Flock has been terminated and that all eight of their cameras have been disabled. Taylor Police found that since the program began in 2023, the cameras have not been used during investigations as often as they had hoped. City officials have also had concerns about data security and protection measures. The Taylor Police Chief says that if those concerns are addressed, They may revisit the use of license plate readers in the future.
