MAJOR Red Wings Trade Update... Report Reveals CRAZY Details | Red Wings News
Nov 3, 2026
Some new shocking details from within
the Red Wings on the Dylan Larkin trade saga have
been revealed, and we finally have an update
on what some of the trade calls have been
like, some of the offers that have come from other teams,
some teams that want him so badly
but that are not on his trade list, and much more.
We're going to break that all down,
including some quotes from Interim General Manager Sean
Horkoff, how he feels about the situation,
and if you ask all Red Wings fans, there are
some that want him to be traded tomorrow.
There are some that are saying, no, just sit on it.
Let him sit at home and not get paid
because he has officially been suspended by the team.
Now we're going to get into all the details
and everything that's happening revolving around that
and some type of timeline if we can get into that as well.
Because Sean Horkoff did speak out.
And Mark, let's waste no more time.
Let's get right into it.
So Sean Horkoff, like I mentioned, did speak yesterday.
And he said that the initial priority was to keep Dylan Larkin.
That is what they were trying to do.
So he said, my initial plan was to try to fix it.
I wanted to try and do what I could
to keep Dylan Larkin here in a Red Wings jersey.
And clearly, I was unsuccessful in doing that.
There's a couple ways you can look at that,
which I think are pretty interesting, and guys,
stick around until later in the episode, we're going to get
into what teams are offering for Dylan Larkin right now, because some
of the trade offers are insane that they have turned down, and I think
that's why Dylan Larkin's agent is kind of, you know, not feeling
so great about the situation and wanting him to sit out, but obviously,
you know, kind of lose their stuff from that camp as well.
But anyway, a couple of ways you can look at this.
Like, was the problem with Steve Eisenman then?
But if he still wants out, is it with Prisilich?
What's the actual problem here?
So there's a lot going on here.
They were trying to get him to stay in the organization.
They didn't want to trade him because at the end of the day,
you're probably losing that trade.
With the list that he's offered, he said for a large part.
Dylan kind of overcame the biggest hurdle,
which was coming back and facing the initial questions
and consequences, which he really didn't.
He didn't answer any questions in that initial press conference,
but from you guys and get on the ice for the first time.
So, Mark, what do you make of some
of the fallout from what happened yesterday?
The suspension, because he is suspended now.
There's websites telling how much money he's losing every single second
of every single day at this point.
So there's a lot going on.
But one thing is for sure,
this is going to be resolved at some point relatively soon.
I think like they're not going to sit on this for too long,
but they might make him sweat a little bit.
And I think some Red Wings fans are finding a lot of fun in that.
I think there's two true things here right now.
The first one being, you've had months to get this guy traded.
And Dylan Larkin and his camp have looked
at this with the offers coming in through teams.
You looking at the offers
and probably having an unrealistic kind of precedent
on what you're getting back for a first line center.
Insane ask for a team that's contending
that wants to get Dylan Larkin as their 2C.
But the other truth is, and listen,
I understand where Dylan Larkin's coming from.
His camp saying, hey.
You guys have had months to do something, and nothing has happened.
But also, get this guy off my team.
I do not want to watch Dylan Larkin.
Well, he is off the team at this point.
But this is a guy that clearly doesn't want to be here.
I don't know what the fascination about keeping him within
this organization is,
especially with him making it very clear.
And now...
Fully public that he does not want to be a part of this franchise
with the way everything's being handled from every side of this story.
It's ridiculous.
And sorry, my language.
It's a ---- show, dearest.
That's exactly what is happening right here.
And I'm sure the only person happy right now is Chris Ilitch
because he doesn't have to pay this guy.
And that's more money going right into Little Caesars.
But at the end of this.
Man, it's been months.
This is a guy that at least did show up, didn't speak much,
and didn't really do anything with Anai's production,
minus that first game.
With these reports coming out, with the suspension,
with the way things are being handled,
I don't even know how you can look at this positive anymore.
I don't know.
Sean Horcoff continued to speak out yesterday,
and he said that the truth is when you have a player
of Dylan's caliber available, your phone rings every single day.
We know that the Flyers have called.
We know that many teams have called, and many teams that have
the best offers are not on his list, which is unfortunate, right?
That's just a fact of the matter at this point.
And he said, my phone rang a lot today,
and that was obviously yesterday he was talking about.
In terms of when this might happen,
he also said that I'm prepared to wait as long as necessary
to make sure the return we get is good overall for the Red Wings.
This could get pretty ugly still.
Like, can you believe that, by the way?
Like, this could still get even uglier where he's just sitting out.
Not for the team, I guess, because they're
just without him either way, right?
But with the team or the teams that he has on his list,
it's very difficult to get something done with a trade like that.
So now putting pressure back on the agent,
putting pressure back on the player.
Expand your list even more so we can get a deal done here.
You want to get traded so bad that you want to sit out,
which came as a surprise to Steve Horcroft,
and honestly, everyone.
I thought he was just going to keep...
Even if he wasn't trying and looked very uninterested
in this road trip, which Steve Horcroft talked about as well,
and you can see with your own eyes at some of the games.
Um.
You know, I think it came as a surprise to everyone
that he just like left yesterday, right?
So he did that and they're saying, you know what,
we might make you sweat it a little bit or you expand your list
and that's what you get for doing something like that.
So there again, a lot going on. He said trade talks
are ongoing right now talking to teams on the list and others as well.
And we know that there's teams like Montreal that are sending offers,
but of course, Montreal not necessarily on.
the list. So Dylan Larkin's a great player still
that's going to help another team. So obviously
you want a good trade return.
You want something back in return for Dylan Larkin. It's going to
make a difference on your team. First of all,
right now for Steve Horcroft, we know that's what
the ask is and some futures. Now.
I want to get into some of the reports
of what a return might look like.
So this was a report this morning
from Scott Wheeler that according to Pierre LeBrun,
one of the Wilds offers for Larkin has included two
to three first round picks, Mark.
That was one of the offers.
And the Red Wings issue is that they don't want
a package of just futures.
Now, it's hard to believe we're here with some of these reports.
It's really hard because, Mark, we
were talking about it this morning off camera.
Wouldn't you then just take an offer like that?
Because that is, in theory, good value.
We know what the Red Wings want.
They want to compete right now in the Atlantic Division
because they have a lot of really good young players
who are about to be in their prime.
Couldn't you take an offer like that
and then flip those assets to a team
that does want futures for players
that would make a difference?
Couldn't you just make another trade?
Like, am I overthinking this?
Is that crazy?
No, the thing is, too, is you're looking out west.
The Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames.
Two teams.
What do they want to do?
Sell off veterans.
What do they want back?
Future picks.
Do a three-team.
You're getting three first-round picks
compared to what Bill traded for Quinn Hughes.
That was the value of four first-round picks.
And I can tell you right now,
Quinn Hughes is a hell of a lot better player
than Dylan Larkin is,
especially for his position.
Just go and make the damn trade.
Flip those pieces if you want.
Then you get a say on who you get.
You don't need to take back filler players.
You don't need to do any of this damn stuff.
You're getting equal value for the guy you have.
Then you call another gym.
He said his phone's ringing all day.
Does he not know how to pick it up?
Is he having problems hearing people on the other line?
Is someone on the internet?
And it's cutting off that service because Darius,
I just do not get the way this is being handled with the way they say,
we want to get picks.
We want to get this.
We're open to doing this.
And then the package comes up and they say,
no,
I don't really want that.
I still want my first center coming back.
No,
one's going to give that up.
You're not getting Barkov.
You're not getting Joel Eriksson Ek.
Plus,
Caprizov for this guy.
I don't know what's happening.
And I genuinely, listen,
I don't think this is on Sean Horikoff.
I still think there is one person in that office
that has too much to say.
And it's Chris Ilitch, right?
And maybe he, like,
if you look at this quote from Sean Horikoff,
he's saying, I think the goal is to get players
that can help us right away, right?
Okay, then go do that then.
Take the three first-round picks and go out
and get a player or a couple of players.
Now, the other side of it, I think it's a worst-kept secret right now
that Larkin wants to go to Minnesota and that Minnesota wants him,
and that's kind of how he's finagling this and wanting to go there.
He put a couple of teams on the list
that he knows that the Red Wings can't trade with
and it wouldn't work, and he put the Wild.
And then he expanded the list,
but I think he still wants to go to the Wild.
And I think the Red Wings might be looking at this like,
we don't want to send you to the Wild.
Maybe they're turning down trades like this.
Oh, they're not really.
You know, how badly do you want Dylan Larkin?
You're not really matching our request.
We'll let you sit around, play for the team.
And now that you're at home, you can sit at home and not get paid.
And we're just going to keep, you know, you know, dancing around this.
There was another report and this is what I want
to get into as well because it plays into this
with the Minnesota Wild. There was another report
that apparently Dylan Larkin and his agent got
word that there was a trade that was very close
and the Red Wings did not pull the trigger and
apparently the player and the agent deemed that that trade was so close
and a good value trade
that should have gone through that should have
sent them to another team and I'm wondering
if it's one of those with the Minnesota Wild
and now that the Red Wings organization knows
he wants to go there they would rather send
him somewhere else to screw him over. So
I think there's a lot, and again,
that's just me speculating, that's not reported,
but that's me using all the reports
and everything we've heard over the last 24 to 48 hours
to kind of, I think they might be just trying to screw each other over,
and that's a mess, don't conduct...
business that way go get something that's going
to help the team if you want to go to the Wild
and you want to screw them over all right i guess that could be fun
but go get something that's
going to help you and then flip
those picks right i think they could take a package like that and
and do something else with it right uh
and if you're looking at the Ottawa Senators for example
they traded Brady Tkachuk, they didn't, they didn't get
the best package ever but they got a couple
futures and they can flip those futures
if they want right to really go out and do something so
I think there's a path to success here,
but Mark, do you have any final thoughts?
Because there's a lot going on.
We're going to have another video too,
because the team is actually playing quite well now.
And I do want to get to this quote actually.
And I wonder if you have any thoughts on this from, um,
You know, Mo Sider, and he said
that last night's win without Dylan Larkin meant a little more.
I think it came down to that the squad is our squad
and that we got a really good group in here.
So throwing a little bit of shade already at Dylan Larkin's way,
and like we've been talking about on the channel,
again, I don't know if you have any thoughts on this,
if they just remove all this, you know,
this dark cloud hanging over the team,
you have to wonder what this team can accomplish.
I mean, look at Ottawa.
It's the perfect example.
A team that moved on from Brady Tkachuk.
And what did they do?
Come out of the gate swinging.
That's one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference.
I believe they lost last night,
but a big comeback, still getting a point.
This is a team that you need to get that negative energy out.
And the thing is, too, Darius, like you said,
that's a team that doesn't have Dylan Larkin
anymore.
He's officially home eating his probably Little Caesars pizza,
whatever he has a sponsorship
with, and a guy that's not helping the team.
Just get the Futures.
There's absolutely no difference.
It's either you have Futures in your back pocket
or you have no Futures with still no Dylan Larkin.
And one thing is, and one thing I think is super underrated
about this entire situation,
there's so much positives with this team.
We've said the young guys coming through,
the team's still playing well,
but you've got to think with the way that Edvinsson's being handled,
with the way that Dylan Larkin's being handled,
this is going to hurt getting future UFAs or RFAs
coming into this group because...
Why would you want to sign with this group if you've seen
this all happen from two players in one season?
But then you also see stories like,
and I think that's a great perspective, Mark,
but, you know, you see stories from, like,
Alex DeBrincat, like, I want to be here.
And then Mo Seider's like, I want to be here.
And there's other players that want to be here, right?
Like, so it's interesting. It's really interesting in that way.
But I guess we'll never really find out,
maybe years down the road, exactly what happened.
But I think that's a great point that I think...
If you're a UFA and Detroit offers you
a contract or is approaching you,
I think you have more questions now,
and that's not necessarily a good thing.
So we'll see how that all progresses.
We'll see how this progresses
because we're going to be talking about this
until it happens because it's still hanging over the team.
But again, let us know in the comments.
Are we crazy for thinking you take a package like that
and then just flip those things for what you want?
I think that could be something that at least, you know,
A stepping stone to get what you actually want, because Dylan Larkin
is blocking a lot of trades from teams that actually really want him.
So, guys, let us know how you feel in the comments below,
and we'll see you for another video either later or tomorrow.
