We're waiting around for the Blitz.
We're getting right into this thing.
Let's go.
I mean, how often do you have a World
Series champion to talk about, right?
It is the Fox 6 Sports Blitz.
Tim Van Voren, Brandon Cruz, Lily Zhao.
Thank you for staying up with us on a Sunday night
as we get into the month of November.
And let's just say we have plenty of things we can talk about.
Let's give you our starting lineup.
For the first time since 1957,
Milwaukee is home to a World Series champion.
For the first time ever, the Brewers can claim that title.
And a new standard is set for championship parades
as the city celebrates with its heroes.
Sal Frelick makes us say what?
At the midpoint of their season,
the Packers could be good or maybe not.
Their ground game's certainly not close to good,
which mirrors the situation with veteran Josh Jacobs.
Look at these people, man.
It's just so special.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Top of the world makes a lot of sense for Sal Frelick
and just about every Brewers fan out there,
Brewers player, Brewers personnel,
staff member, my goodness, what a week.
All right, ESPN, preseason projections, Milwaukee Brewers, 83 wins.
They topped that.
By 20.
By a lot.
In the regular season.
Yeah.
What do you think of this whole thing?
I mean, if somebody said, Lily, what do you think of this whole thing?
I mean, it's been a blur, but in the best way possible.
I mean, we were covering a team, again, that had made history.
In terms of franchise history, 103 regular season wins,
and then all of a sudden they're in the division series,
they're in the championship series, and lo and behold,
we're talking about a World Series and a World Series victory.
I think this was something
that every young baseball player has dreamed of,
the Brewers included, but to have it happen
this year the way that it did,
a team that had a lot of belief that they could win the whole thing,
that they could do it their way under manager Pat Murphy,
has been something special to behold.
And to cover this team, I know you guys
have done it from start to finish as well.
This is a very memorable year, one that we will never forget.
No doubt about it.
It started in spring training.
Brandon, you were there.
Yeah, what a long, strange trip it has been.
I mean, this has been.
Quite the right.
I mean, we were with them when they reported the spring training.
And we're telling all the stories of the guys.
And we're trying to get a feel for who this team may be.
And it took them about 30 games to kind of figure it out themselves.
And then they all got on the same page.
And from there, the rest is history.
I mean, 114 total wins, including the World Series championship.
And we saw so many different.
Heroes, you know, you talked about the city celebrating its heroes.
If you look at the season, there wasn't one guy that carried this team.
I think that's what made this group so special.
It was a different guy each and every night,
and collectively they were great together,
and they complemented each other so well and played together so well
that this is where they ended up.
They ended up by winning the World Series after Game 5
in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Here's some of what they said that night.
What does that feel like? World champs.
It's crazy. You know, it's insane.
Just even those words
and being with my name involved with that, it's insane.
The Milwaukee Brewers are the champions of the world.
That's right.
Brandon, how does that sit on you?
Pretty cool. There's nothing like it. It's special. It really is.
I'm so proud of myself. I'm
so proud of having my family with me in this moment, my wife, my kids.
I know 100% my mom and my dad are in the sky, looking in the air.
What ownership does, what front office does,
and just this family aspect.
And it's unbelievable to see it all come together right here.
It means everything.
I mean, just to be a part of this thing and to bring this home,
I know how much this means.
I get a lot of messages, and I'm so thankful for it.
And I can't wait to celebrate with everyone in Wisconsin.
I really am.
It's awesome.
Before that, I mean, when I was in the minor leagues,
he was texting me, hey, hey, hey.
Oh, that kind of burns.
Thank you very much.
How would you pour?
When did it sink in that you guys were world champions?
I don't know if it's still – I still don't know if it has yet.
I just know I'm super happy, I'm super thankful to God be the glory.
I can't even describe how happy I am.
Happy for everybody in here.
It's such a group effort.
It's the players, it's the staff, it's the families, it's everybody.
They have to put everything into it.
So just to see it all pay off really means a lot.
I can't believe it's a world championship, but of course it is.
I was thinking about a World Series ring.
Now I'm thinking about being the best team in the world,
in the world, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Love that.
I think it's just more fuel for us to keep going,
keep going, doing this more and more.
We're going to enjoy it tonight, enjoy it for a few days, no doubt,
but obviously wanting to get back here and continue to work.
The Milwaukee Brewers just won the World Series!
I'm Lauren Bowers.
Jake Bowers' wife.
And we just won the World Series.
We just won the World Series!
It's the best party I've been a part of, for sure.
Love celebrating with everybody who made this possible,
and yeah, it's a lot of fun.
What are you going to remember from this year
besides maybe this moment?
Uh, uh, uh, uh, buddy,
I'm going to...
I'm going to remember how, I guess, how much my eyes burned.
And I had a general manager say, why are you going to Milwaukee?
I said, they have the best fan base.
It's a challenge.
And, you know, I love the opportunity of those challenges.
And these fans were challenged, all these, for 44 years.
And now it's come to fruition.
Generations of Brewer fans who had never had
the opportunity to see this, right?
So it means the world to all of them.
And I think there are so many families that have passed
the love they have for the Milwaukee Brewers.
down from one generation to the next.
And I think this sport brings people together.
It unites people.
What happens in your mind and your body?
We couldn't see.
What did you do when that last out was made?
Just came sprinting out.
And you're just floating and running out there on that field.
So your mind finally clears.
And you're like, holy cow, we did it.
We're done.
There's no more baseball to be played.
So it's a lot of fun.
You came out and joined me after game two in Milwaukee.
And you said it was pretty sick.
And I can't tell you how many people have said that to me.
It's pretty sick.
This is a little more sick, man.
This is a little more sick.
A little more sick.
I'm out of, like, emotions.
I've screamed so much.
Thank you very much.
My heart has reached an all-time high this postseason.
And now I need to kind of relax, calm it down a little bit.
But how sick is that, man?
Well, Cooper, how sick is this?
We segue from all that celebration
and Brandon Cruz having to get his dry cleaning done
to this parade.
Yeah, it was something special to behold over...
750,000 people from the state of Milwaukee all around came to downtown
Milwaukee to watch their brewers come through in a championship parade.
And again, it was just everybody, the family of these brewers,
players, the staff, the people behind the scenes, the owners.
Bob Uecker's family, just in there you see Bob Uecker and their mural,
and I thought that was really special though when those guys parked
that bus there and got out and mingled with the fans
and brought the Commissioner's Trophy in front of Uecker's mural,
so that was fantastic to see, but just the support from these fans
who have been so hungry for a World Series title,
I mean this was a day again they will never forget either.
I truly think the standards have been set for championship parades.
This was, I mean, the way they, look at this.
I mean, they're spraying the fans,
the way they brought the trophy to them,
the way they interacted with them.
They didn't just stay tight in the bus.
They got out and made it for everybody
who came and tried to include them.
And then they haven't left town.
This was only the beginning of being back here in town.
But it did.
It was great.
And the fact that so many people came out
and the fact that the celebration
The celebration didn't even end with the...
With the ceremony inside the amphitheater,
it just really kind of embodied what this whole fan base
and what this team felt together and with one another.
And I think that's why it was just so special.
And, you know, every other city should look at how this one was done.
Yeah, you could celebrate a long, long time,
and you could look at how this one was done,
but the fans have to have the role they had in this one,
which was really something special.
A little bit of news tonight.
Jackson Chirio and Bryce Terang win gold gloves.
There's no surprise there, but the
accolades just keep coming for this team.
Yeah, they do, and just add more to the trophy shelf, right?
We've always known that Bryce Terang is a spectacular second baseman.
But for Jackson Churio, to win one out for his play out in left field
is something spectacular to behold as well.
So just very well-deserved honors for those two guys,
two for two in the postseason.
And remember, Jackson Churio's defense wasn't what
was heralded when he came up.
This has been just the hard work that he's put into it to get there,
which has been fantastic.
And Jackson Churio definitely deserves it.
And then, of course, we're going to get a couple of more awards.
I'm assuming the Cy Young Award should be coming this way,
as should be the National League Manager of the Year.
Second of the Year Award.
Just keep rolling it up, right?
None of them are better than World Series champion.
No.
Hey, it's November, Sunday night,
so naturally we're talking some Packers.
That's around the corner on the Fox 6 Sportsbooks.
This is my crew right here.
I'm assuming that's who you're talking about.
I don't know about you, but I feel pretty good about it.
We'll stop there.
Thank you, sir.
Did the Lambo leap.
Yeah, it was like unbelievable.
It's been a dream of mine.
I was in the end zone.
I saw it.
I was like, I got to go.
So I went.
And he shook a tackle off from Christian Yelich,
he claimed, as he made his way to greatness.
Lily, you were there at Lambeau Field
for the Packers' win over the Panthers.
And that celebration, what was that like?
Because you definitely saw two
organizations embracing each other there.
Yeah, that was one of the, you know.
Secrets at Lambeau early pregame.
Are they going to be there at all?
Are they going to bring the Commissioner's Trophy?
If so, who's going to be there?
And it was a big contingent of Brewers coming to Lambeau Field,
bringing that Commissioner's Trophy.
Brandon Woodruff brought it out of the tunnel.
You had a big chunk of Brewers there as well.
Garrett Mitchell, Bryce Turing, Sal Freelick, Logan Henderson.
But that's what you love to see, right?
They'd won the World Series, and let's go celebrate
and bring this thing to the Packers in front of their fans.
And they had a massive roar when they came out onto the field.
And then, like Sal Frielich said,
he saw an opportunity, and he took it.
And guys followed suit.
And I'll say, these guys had really good form.
That padding is high.
So those guys cleared it.
I think only one guy maybe didn't, but everybody else got the hops.
Oh, the Miz.
Do we have to name them?
Yeah, well, you did.
That's it.
But it was just fantastic to see everybody embracing
this World Series champion
and, hey, the famous Raisin Sausages, too, running across the end zone.
How about that for Barrelman?
Yeah, what a night.
And they were there for the game, too.
They watched the game.
It was entertaining.
The Packers do win in front of the Brewers there.
One of the things that we saw, kind of a scary moment,
is Christian Watson leaving in an ambulance, yet he comes back.
Right, we saw Christian Watson last year at Denver fall on the ball,
have to go to the hospital, didn't come back that night,
that game, late afternoon game.
On this particular night, he catches a long pass, falls down
on the ball, and is taken to the hospital because the trainers
and medical staff were concerned that he was spitting up something.
They were worried about internal bleeding,
which made for some great images, right?
I mean, thank goodness Christian Watson turns out okay,
but he takes the hospital, takes the ambulance ride to the hospital.
Takes the ambulance right back, gets out of the ambulance, comes back.
Returns to play in the game.
And the first play was directed right at him.
Yeah.
Yeah, Lily, you talked to him after the game.
What did he say actually happened and what went on?
Yeah, he said, again, he was spitting up blood, broke a rib.
So, I mean, he really went through it.
But he wanted to get back out there and play.
He got cleared to do so.
Had to wear some extra padding.
But I think, you know, the worst of it, again,
was just the coughing up the blood and the rib.
But he was able to be cleared to play.
And it happened so quickly, though.
We talked about it.
There was probably no traffic.
He went in and out, left the second.
quarter, came back in the third quarter after halftime.
So it was pretty amazing to see
he got all those tests done in such a short amount
of time. And then to be able to go out there and play
and continue playing is just a testament
to his toughness. Wow.
I don't know how guys do that.
Tim, when you look at this team, we're basically at the
midway point. It's a 17-game season.
They've played eight.
Thank you very much, Kate.
How good are they? How bad are they? Where do they stand?
Well, right now they'd be in the playoffs,
right? They're the seventh seed in the NFC,
but the Rams are below them.
Seahawks down there.
I mean, some teams you figure are going to make a little move here.
And I don't really think they're very good other than defensively.
But defensively, they're good enough
that that could really change the way the season plays out.
Jordan Love has played very well.
The work of Christian Watson has been terrific.
Matthew Golden has been up and down.
The run game is non-existent.
I'm not saying anything that people don't know,
but how do you win football games?
You have to be able to run it at some point.
You have to be able to make big kicks in special teams.
Those are big question marks at best right now.
Do you believe any of the rumors about the trade possibilities
involving the Packers at this point?
You're talking about Jonathan Taylor as the running back?
I mean, what's the point as far as I'm concerned?
If I'm Jonathan Taylor, I'm saying please no.
Do you see any changes happening with this offensive line
to help get things going, or is this Packers team what we see it now
and what we're going to see it at the end, you know,
disregarding any health concerns?
Yeah, outside of maybe Kevin Zeitler kind of being in the mix there,
I don't know how much this offensive line will change.
I mean, listen, they're not really good at.
blocking for their running backs
and the pass protection has been very up and down.
But, you know, you hope that maybe guys that they're settled
in at one position, they can get better.
But I think at the end of the day, it is what it is.
And fortunately for Green Bay, they have Jordan Leavitt quarterback.
I think if they had a pedestrian quarterback,
they would not have as many wins as they do at five.
So they are lucky they have a quarterback
who's able to improvise and get out of the pocket, avoid sacks.
But again, this is not sustainable if they want
to win long term, you know, and try.
Try to make the playoffs if we're talking
about December football right now.
So I don't know what else you can do with this offensive line.
It's not going to get much better unless
these guys just kind of figure it out.
One of the things that's still kind of lingering around this team,
at least to cloud over it,
is the Josh Jacobs situation where more allegations are out there
of him having problems and possibly being abusive towards women.
How is that affecting this team, do you think?
And do you think it's going to continue to affect this team?
They say it doesn't, but I think
these are not allegations you can take lightly.
Again, his lawyers and his attorneys have responded.
But again, these will be questions that will be brought up
because there could be further suspensions coming for Josh Jacobs
because the NFL's investigation is ongoing.
They said they will investigate these three new allegations
from women who said that he did touch them back in 2021 and 22.
We'll see what happens, but until this gets resolved,
there will be more questions directed towards Matt LaFleur,
the organization, and Josh Jacobs.
And he has not been suspended prior.
He was on the commissioner's exempt list,
which is considered not a suspension.
Well, when we come back, we have more to bring you here
on this Fox 6 Sports Blitz on a championship Sunday night.
We'll be right back.
Hey, it's our Packers Passport, Packers,
Panthers, Thursday Night Football.
That's a familiar face, the former mayor of Door County, A.J. Dillon.
Yes, he's a member of the Carolina Panthers.
Now, he was a healthy scratch on Thursday night.
This is his third stop in his NFL career,
but A.J. Dillon taking it all in.
He's played in four games thus far for Carolina
and hoping to keep finding her spot on the field.
But that is our Packers Passport, and you have to believe Dillon,
probably very happy for the Brewers winning the World Series, too.
You would think so, yeah. I used to see him
at games at American Family Field.
All right,
what are you thinking about the Packers halfway through the season?
Just like you used to go into Walgreens and see that little sign,
as seen on TV, we do as seen by TVV.
What are you thinking about them?
What do you want to know about them right now?
Hit the QR code.
Get to us on our various platforms.
I'll be on tomorrow on Fox 6 Now.
Answer your questions.
Respond to your opinions.
That's what we do this time of year,
and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have
to say about the Packers right now.
There's more football this time of year, Lily.
Yes, there is.
Hey, guess what?
The high school blitz is coming back Friday night for us,
And it's level three of the playoffs.
Playoffs West Bend West at the
undefeated Union Grove Broncos.
That's going to be a fantastic
matchup on Friday night.
Neither team has made it past level three.
We'll see which one can get
it done on Friday night.
Again, Fox 6 High School Blitz
10 o'clock with Brandon Cruz.
And I'll
I'll tell you what level three of the playoffs.
This is that week.
This is that week where it gets so
special because dreams are made
and dreams are trash.
So it's it's a really.
Cool week of high school football and those aren't teams
that are always playing this time. Yeah, so they're pretty excited.
Well, and it's Westman West last year as Westman West.
So pretty interesting for them to get this far so far.
Absolutely. We have interesting stuff around the corners.
We put a wrap on the Fox Sports Blitz for tonight.
We hope you join us. Hey, guess what? Live from New York.
It's the World Series champions last night on Saturday Night Live.
What a ride they're still on, right?
No doubt about it.
And the ride continues.
The guys will keep doing some appearances this week.
They've been all over town.
Obviously, they're all over the country doing this stuff,
but trick-or-treating and out at the bars.
Fishing.
Fishing, yeah.
Raising canes tomorrow.
Yeah, Bucs games.
They've been at Bucs games.
Yeah, absolutely.
And own it.
Take it all in because this might only happen one time.
It might happen five times, but this is the moment now.
To the victor go the spoils, right?
Absolutely.
So fantastic.
Yeah, good stuff.
All right, and we'll see if there's baseball next year,
But certainly this goes down as an incredible...
Incredible baseball season in Milwaukee.
We appreciate you joining us tonight on the Fox 6 Sports Blitz.
Coming up this week, the Green Bay Packers at the New England Patriots.
We'll get back into some serious football stuff.
Patriots barely won today.
And it's here on Fox 6,
and we have a Fox 6 special edition news with reaction.
So here we all go.
College basketball tomorrow, too.
Terrific. Have a nice week.
