With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 News at 5.
Worked last night, third shift, 13 hours,
and right after work we came straight here.
No rest for the weary.
Now at 5, the celebrations just keep on going.
Fans lined up for hours to get the chance to meet the World Series MVP.
You'll hear from him
and fans on how much this World Series title means.
And it is time for you to decide.
We're just days away from the November election,
and your two candidates for governor are pushing for your vote.
We'll take you out on the campaign trail
with their last-minute messages for voters.
But our big story today at 5, and I'm so glad you're along for the ride
because fresh off the Brewers' World Series win,
fans lined up for hours,
and we mean hours, just to get the chance to meet catcher
and World Series MVP William Contreras.
The Dick's Sporting Goods in Brookfield held
a meet-and-greet with the VP today.
The MVP, that is.
Even though it didn't start until 10:30 a.m.,
some people were out as early as 6.
Yeah, at the Kraken on this morning.
We caught up with Contreras
and the excited fans to see exactly what this has meant to all of them.
It's beautiful. It's beautiful to hear everybody,
to see the fans, the kids, especially the young guys.
I mean, I really feel glad to be here.
I gave him a fist bump.
He gave me a fist bump first, and I'm never washing my hands.
I'm sure his parents were thrilled.
I'm never washing my hands ever, Mom.
I got a fist bump from William.
In all, 250 fans got to meet up with the World Series MVP
and have him sign a player card.
What a cool opportunity that they'll never forget.
And at some point, he's got to wash his hands.
Maybe he can just do a little something else to commemorate, right?
Over in Milwaukee, Brewers fans showed up big for free brats.
Check out the crowd at the Milwaukee Brat House's downtown location.
The Brat House gave out free bratwurst to anybody
who showed up between noon and three this afternoon.
We are checking in with the Brat House now
to see how many they gave away,
but you can imagine, probably a record number.
Oh, they look good.
Free kraut, hopefully, to go as well.
And after a historic World Series win
and a successful celebration back here in Milwaukee,
the Brewers are extending a big thank you to all the fans.
In a statement, the team says in part, quote,
This championship has been generations in the making,
and Friday was the celebration of everyone
who has been a part of that journey.
Thank you to those who lined the parade route
and gathered at Henry Meyer Festival Park,
those who celebrated throughout Milwaukee, across Wisconsin.
And well beyond, and those who have been with the Brewers for decades
or shared this moment with a new generation of fans.
What a nice love letter to pen to all of us.
And we know we all showed up.
All of us fans showed up in a big way.
Milwaukee police estimated, are you ready for that?
Yeah, over 750,000 people.
They attended the parade or the rally out
of the Summerfest grounds on Friday.
That is more.
Then the city of Milwaukee combined.
Everybody in Milwaukee turned out.
No, everybody and their cousin, right?
MPD says that this may have been the largest crowd
for a single-day event in the state's history.
In addition, bar workers estimate fans
drank about 250,000 beers during the rally.
Bartenders say they were constantly restocking, constantly pouring,
but they're real happy to be part of a very historic moment.
And Tom, as I bring you in here,
the weather couldn't have been perfect.
It was a little chilly.
We were at the parade site.
Nicola Junowitz is here in the studio with me.
We were all out there really early, her even earlier than me.
5:30, it was chilly.
But I got to tell you, by parade time,
by about 10 o'clock, it was perfect.
And with 750,000 of your closest friends, Mary, no problem.
Right, right.
I mean, how special.
I mean, there's never really been a time, well, the Bucks,
of course, and now here with the Brewers, but I mean,
you still can't wrap your head around it, right?
It was magical, and nobody was fighting,
nobody pushing, shoving, everybody was respectful
and kind and just loving the air. It was magical.
And that's the biggest takeaway, right?
It brought all of us together. How great.
And Mary, you and everyone here at Fox 6, what an incredible job.
I mean, so many going without sleep.
Team Fox.
Yeah, over the course.
of the last week. So huge kudos and again our brewers so awesome.
Well let's talk about the
weather. Welcome to November.
I know the time has changed and now the sun has set. Let me show you
what's going on with a live look over the east side of Milwaukee
or I'm sorry we're looking south
here over towards downtown with the lake
on the left hand side of your screen. So we hit 64 for
for a high today. We're down to 6 to 58 right now
with that wind out of the southeast.
Temperatures are dropping.
Sunset just before 4:45.
Ugh.
I know.
It's always tough, isn't it?
By the way, sunrise tomorrow morning, 6:27.
So kind of we got to recalibrate ourselves,
right, after that extra hour of sleep.
Dew point 54.
Air pressure is falling again.
The clouds have joined us.
Temperatures cooler near the lake, warmer inland.
We're going to keep with the clouds,
maybe some patchy drizzle as we go throughout the night.
Not a big deal, but here's what is a big deal.
In the southwest, big-time storm system,
and that is heading in our direction.
That will start tomorrow afternoon and continue into Wednesday,
which means a little soggy at times on Election Day,
which we'll talk about.
Tonight, mainly dry, cloudy skies,
temperatures in the 50s, light winds out of the southeast,
but an unsettled start to the week.
Mary, we'll talk more about that in just a few minutes.
Back to you in the studio.
Tom, thanks.
Hopefully not too much of a hiccup there because we got two days.
And two candidates before the election that'll have one winner.
The race for governor back on the front burner after
both campaigns fought the World Series for attention.
And now, well, they're fighting for your votes and attention.
Derontae Matthews caught up with both campaigns on Saturday.
There's no time to lose
as Wisconsin's governor's race enters its final days.
People across the state of Wisconsin, they are ready to vote.
We do, over the course of the next three days, we'll decide it all.
Congressman Tom Tiffany and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley
are crisscrossing the state ahead of Tuesday's election.
On Saturday, the two held events in Milwaukee County.
Tiffany stopped in Brown Deer.
I'm going to represent all of the people of the state of Wisconsin.
Crowley's campaign in Milwaukee.
Crowley did not attend the Milwaukee event
as he shared photos of himself meeting voters in Baraboo.
He did have Mayor Cavalier Johnson and U.S. Representatives Jim Clyburn
and Gwen Moore speaking for him. He has demonstrated his leadership.
His good judgment.
Tiffany spoke on affordability, cutting taxes,
and bringing the American dream to Wisconsinites.
Property taxes are a big expense.
Utility rates are a big expense.
I'm going to get control of those things.
So we will end the 400-year property tax increase.
We're going to return all of the budget surplus to you.
All $3 billion.
Moore and Clyburn say Crowley is the right choice on health care
and helping working-class families.
They point to his record, not his upbringing,
as proof he can lead the state of Wisconsin.
Get beyond their promises and talk
Get beyond the cycle that he grew up in
Because he has established a record as counted exact
that demonstrates that when he got the opportunity.
He developed the skill
and the character to be the next governor of Wisconsin.
And our thanks to Derontae Matthews reporting there.
By the way, the latest Marquette Law School poll shows
Crowley leading Tiffany by seven points among likely voters
and just three points among registered voters,
with plenty still undecided.
Election Day, as we've been mentioning,
coming up on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Well, we switch gears now because there's new video
from Hobart Lawrence Police tonight
showing the arrest of Packers star running back Josh Jacobs.
Take a look at the video after Jacobs turned himself
in to the police days after the incident
at his home with an ex-girlfriend back in May.
Video of the actual incident is still not being released
because police cite ongoing civil proceedings involving Jacobs
and the victim trying to block the release.
Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery.
Just as Jacobs is brought back to the police department,
he asks the officer this question.
If I know I'm 100% didn't do anything wrong,
what can I do in this situation to, like, yeah, avoid it?
Because, like, what, like, I don't, like, to me, it's, like, unfair.
You know what I'm saying?
So, like, I don't really understand.
It's up to you, Larry.
Okay.
He gets paid a s**t.
Tom Martin, I do.
He does his thing.
I'm saying, like, legally, though, like,
if I was to call, it wouldn't have made a difference.
I'd still be the one.
No. Remember, these charges are set in stone.
Oh, okay. It's just what they think.
So there's a chance you could get convicted.
There's a chance they could be dropped.
Jacobs missed six games while on the commissioner's exempt list,
but has since returned.
Meanwhile, according to the Associated Press,
multiple other women contacted police
to detail their own allegations against Jacobs
after his arrest in May.
Records obtained by the AP show
that at least three women told police they experienced
altercations with Jacobs between 2021 and 2022.
In the meantime, Jacobs' lawyer shared this
statement on Saturday saying, quote,
the Brown County District Attorney's Office had these
uncooperated, old and previously unreported allegations for months.
They concluded their
own exhaustive investigation along with the police department
and the DA determined that
that only two misdemeanor charges were
were warranted. They then entered into a plea agreement
with Josh Jacobs. Josh has expressed repeatedly expressed his remorse
and is honoring the terms of the agreement.
The NFL also sharing a statement with Fox 6 saying the former.
We will review these allegations as part of the investigation,
which has remained open.
As the weather gets a little bit colder, the state's annual moratorium
on heating disconnections is now in effect.
We're going to take a look at exactly when this runs through
and what you can do if you're behind
on your heating bills before the spring hits.
One plays in Tampa, the other coaches in Milwaukee.
It seemed like the perfect storm
for some drama during the World Series,
but with the sports family, it's not quite that clear-cut.
Tim Van Voren takes us beyond the game to explain.
That's coming up. Keep it right here on Fox 6.
All right, just in time for that chill in the air,
Wisconsin's annual moratorium on heating
disconnections is now in effect.
Starting today, in fact, utility companies like WeEnergies cannot
disconnect your heating services until April 15th.
What does that mean? Well, even if you can't pay
your bill, your heat's going to stay on.
This is required by the state. However, the Public Service
Commission of Wisconsin is encouraging people
with outstanding bills to make payment arrangements
or get some extra help.
But we want our customers to know that disconnection
is always a last resort, so our customers
should contact us now.
If they are struggling to pay their bills,
we have so many options that we can offer
to our customers and we can work with them.
They really do have good payment plans.
You don't want to get too far behind,
so reach out to them if you want to, if you need to.
We have all the information on how to set up a payment plan.
Just go over to the WeEnergies website or the app.
And, you know, Tom, it really is just in time.
I mean, it was a beautiful weekend for the parade and going forward.
But, you know, for the poor trick-or-treaters last night.
I know.
Oh, I felt so bad because I went out just
to maybe kind of see them a little bit.
And just right at 5 o'clock when they started
in Milwaukee, it started to rain.
I know.
I headed in.
But, you know, the kids were like.
Oh, the kids were like, we're going.
We are getting candy.
It might snow right now.
We're going.
Yep.
You remember that a couple years ago?
Yeah, I do.
I will say this.
No snow and no super cold weather,
at least for the first half of the month here.
Oh, yeah.
So there's that.
We do have some rain on the way.
Let's take a look, show you what's going on here.
Welcome to November.
I know it's crazy, right?
October flew by, and, well, we all know why,
because, well, we were watching baseball all month, right?
What an awesome, unforgettable month of October
here in southeastern Wisconsin.
Let's talk about November 1st here.
64 degrees, that was our high, so almost 10 degrees above average.
47 our low this morning, also almost.
10 degrees above average, so a warm start to the month here.
Now, I know, it's tough, isn't it?
4:44, our sunset tonight.
Yeah, and sunrise tomorrow morning will be 6.27.
So, gives you an idea with the time change.
kind of where we stand when it comes to sunrise and sunset,
because I know it's tough. We all
have to adjust, right? But hopefully we're
a little more energized today after that extra
hour of sleep last night. Here's a live look over the city.
Here we are at 58. Now the wind
is out of the southeast,
so it's coming in off the lake tonight. Dew point 54, air pressure
On the higher side now temperatures 50s for most areas still
a few 60s on the map, but with the clouds having filled back
in and some patchy drizzle temperatures will hold in the 50s all night.
So don't expect a huge drop in temperature throughout the night.
Got a couple of things to talk about.
Number one is this disturbance here, which we are right on the edge of.
So that's why we have some patchy drizzle. This is not a big deal.
This is a bigger deal.
This is a much stronger system down to the southwest, and that is going
to bring unsettled weather our way starting tomorrow afternoon
and then continuing through Election Day as well.
So let's talk about this with Sky Vision Plus.
I really want to take you through here hour by hour.
So here we are on the statewide view tonight. Cloudy skies,
light winds, steady temperatures in the 50s, maybe some patchy drizzle,
especially overnight, but not going to be a big deal.
For our Monday morning, it is going to mainly be dry.
Maybe some drizzle here and there, but again, not a big deal.
Temperatures will warm into the 60s tomorrow afternoon.
And then as we go into the afternoon hours,
here comes some rain showers, really just a couple of spotty scattered
rain showers tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours tomorrow.
You'll see tomorrow night it starts to pick up a little bit more up
to our north, but not a ton of rain on Monday.
So tenth of an inch or less primarily in our area for Monday.
But again, a little bit better of a chance
for those scattered showers Monday afternoon, Monday night.
We go into Tuesday, Election Day.
Tuesday morning, cloudy, a little drizzly.
Again, not a big deal here.
It's just going to be on the cloudy side.
Then as we go into the afternoon.
Here's where we get scattered showers
and a few thunderstorms to come in as well.
I think it'll really pick up later
in the afternoon and into the evening.
I'll tell you right now, it does
not look like any severe weather around here.
So that is certainly good news.
However, it does look
a bit soggy here Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.
So 50s for tonight.
Here's your six-day planner.
Let's put it all together for you.
Sixties and warming on Tuesday, 68 and windy with those afternoon
and evening thunderstorms, isolated showers on Wednesday.
This is really the one and only system, Mary.
And then as we go towards the end of the week, definitely more.
November-like, with highs in the 50s as some cloud cover continues.
That's the latest from here.
Back over to you.
At least we dry out a bit.
Okay.
Yeah.
Tom, thank you for that.
So with two days to go until Election Day,
we are also keeping a close eye on major races
across the country.
We're going to take a look at exactly what they could mean
for the future of Congress.
Well, one plays in Tampa and the other coaches in Milwaukee.
It does seem like the perfect storm
for just some drama during the World Series.
But with this sports family, well, there's a little bit more to it.
And our Tim Van Buren will explain
as he takes us beyond the game with the Green family.
I'm sitting here looking at two guys. I see the resemblance.
I see the pride. I didn't expect to start by talking this way,
but that's exactly what I see.
So, Charlie, is that representing what you feel?
What's going on right here?
Yeah, it's a great moment for the whole family.
You know, we're a sports family. Sports has always been important
for us to have the schedule turn out the way it did.
We're down here in Tampa and he's with the Bucs.
It couldn't have worked out any better for us.
Yeah, awesome.
I know a father's pride.
Is there a son's pride in this, too,
being in the accomplishment to band his team with
them?
Yeah, for sure.
I mean, you know, just really from when I was born,
you know, watching him work, watching
the way he goes about his business, watching.
How the guys treat him, how he loves his guys,
you know, it's really something special to be able to be here
and now be able to watch him, you know,
hopefully win the World Series.
Have you taken some of that example that you've seen
and put it into your own sports?
Yeah, I mean, I think that's the only reason
why I've made it to the NFL is the lessons
that I learned with him, you know,
going to instructional league at five years old,
you know, waking up with him at, you know,
five in the morning, just seeing how he works,
seeing how he went about his business,
you know, I owe my whole career to him.
Have you become a Brewers fan,
or is that tough to do here in Tampa Bay?
No, no matter where I'm working, I'm a Brewers fan.
It's been my only team my whole life.
You start working for them in like 05, and that's been my only team.
Charlie, he says no matter where he's working,
he'll just love the attitude.
I mean, he's doing a job, too.
It's a dream to be in the NFL, but it's a job, too.
Do you think you've given him some lessons
to prepare him for what he's doing there?
For sure, for sure.
You know, he doesn't take any day for granted.
I know, like, showing up every day at work
and to give your best, be a great teammate,
and that's what he's been, you know.
Yeah, football, baseball,
there's great life lessons in all those sports.
So, you know, like I said, we've been a sports family.
basketball baseball and he took he took the football route
which is way different from the
family he was he was a good baseball player
but he chose football i think he chose right
what's it like to watch him that's
a dangerous eye contact huge intensity game to play what's
it like to watch him the whole family enjoys watching him compete
because i know that's what
he wants to do he's a competitor at heart uh he loves the fight
and to compete and that's just the
He expresses it in football.
He's on the field.
He's going to play balls to the wall like he always has from day one.
You did play some baseball growing up.
I mean, what's the contrast as someone
who's been a high-level athlete in both?
Yeah, I think there's definitely a lot of differences.
You know, I think the main one being
football is more of like a practice sport.
You know, baseball, you're playing every day for the summer,
where football, you're practicing six days a week for,
you know, one game on Sunday.
So I think like...
For me, having to focus in on and really treat practice like a game
because in baseball, you get a ton of games,
but in football, each practice is kind
of like your game getting beating up to Sunday.
Charlie, this is a mature young man you've raised here.
What do you think when you hear him talk about some of the things
that you probably had to go through as a player yourself?
I'm proud of him because he knows sports is tough,
especially pro sports,
winning and losing, and the margins are real small.
And, you know.
How you prepare, how you go about your business,
how you treat other people, you know,
all the hard work you do, and it's a year-round sport.
I'm proud of that, but I just enjoy watching him compete.
I know he's doing what he loves, and, you know,
he's taking the family on an unbelievable journey, too.
I'd say throughout his sports career,
you know, we've knocked off bucket list stuff,
stadiums I've been to, so it's been a great ride so far.
You know, you play for a football coaching staff.
Did they ever talk to you about having a dad as,
you know, a major league coach?
I mean, it's kind of rare that they would even crush
on somebody who's both of those were.
Yeah, I mean, there's definitely been questions.
And, you know, they've asked me stuff about, you know,
how he handles long season or, you know, other things like that.
So there's definitely questions.
But, you know, I think it's a very unique.
Unique situation that we have of, you know,
basically a whole baseball family and then, you know,
the renegade that went and played football.
When it turned out that the Rays won and they'd be playing the Brewers,
you had to be thinking, there's nothing special.
Yeah, no, I mean, I think God works in weird ways where,
you know, you think things, I mean, this is 33 years at it
and this is the first crack at it and it just happens to be.
You know, I slept in my own bed last night.
I'm 20 minutes away from here, so it's really been a blessing,
you know, especially to have, you know, a whole family here.
You know, hopefully I can close it out tonight.
And you came out for at least one
World Series game in Milwaukee, right?
Yeah.
As a professional athlete,
what's that experience like to be a fan and a son?
Yeah, it's a lot different.
It's something I'm not used to.
Um, but.
You know, Milwaukee was unbelievable.
You know, it really felt like a football tailgate.
Like, what I imagine a football tailgate would be like.
Like, the atmosphere was electric.
The game was phenomenal.
So, it was really awesome, you know, now to be able to catch, you know,
hopefully two games here has been awesome.
Has this family been the right family for you?
I mean, to grow up with this environment and the encouragement
and the accomplishments you've had, Dad, I know your grandpa had.
Yeah.
I assume you feel like, boy, I did okay here.
Yeah, I mean, I couldn't have asked for for a bigger blessing,
you know, with the family, you know, my mom, my dad, my brother,
really being able to travel around with him everywhere, really see,
see how the business works. And like, you know, winning mattered.
And like, that was he instilled that in me from from a very young age
that, you know, winning matters like they keep score for a reason.
So I couldn't have asked for for a better upbringing.
You know, now to be back back in Florida, you know, watch him,
you know, hopefully win the World Series and I it's been special.
Oh, special indeed. That is awesome.
You know, speaking of family, if you don't have your
holiday travel plans yet, well,
you're going to want to figure it out soon. We are looking at
what is fueling soaring prices all the way
from the airlines to the ground and how much your
triple A could actually cost you. We'll be right back.
All right, the countdown definitely on.
Just two days to go until Election Day.
President Trump heads to Iowa and Kansas to rally supporters there.
His trip comes as Democrats and Republicans across the state
make a final push to undecided voters.
Fox News correspondent Madison Scarpino has the story.
President Donald Trump in Iowa Sunday,
closing out the final days of the midterm elections
on the road, trying to boost Republican voter turnout.
His visit comes as polls show Democrats tied
with or leading Republicans in many key Iowa races.
I think it's good for him to come
and see what his policies have done to a state like Iowa.
I mean, we're uniquely hurting.
Also on the campaign trail, Michigan Democrat Abdul Al-Sayed,
who is locked in a tight race with former GOP Congressman Mike Rogers.
But instead of the race,
El Sayed was forced to comment on party politics.
politics. After his former opponent, Haley Stevens,
stunned Democrats by publicly endorsing
Rogers. At the end of the day,
I actually don't think about Haley Stevens. I think about the like
I said, the nine million nine hundred
and ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninety eight people
who are not those two. Because you know what?
I'm just less interested in the politics
of it all than I am in the policy of it all.
Steven's endorsement came after she
was uninvited to an event with El Sayed.
When asked why, Steven says her decision ultimately came down
to putting country over party.
My vote for Senate is gonna be with Mike Rogers
and I will tell you why,
because we have to stand with country.
You can't stand with hate.
President Trump had this to say about the drama.
I think she was very brave doing it,
and she did it for the people of Michigan.
How much you getting?
And I have great respect.
I don't know her.
I've never met her, but I have great respect for her, I will tell you.
Up next for the president, a stop in Salina, Kansas.
In Atlanta, Madison Scarpino, Fox News.
Well, Tom, the good news is we gained that extra hour.
The bad news is I haven't been outside,
but I know it's already dark. Oh, it's dark.
It's tough, isn't it, Mary? Especially, you know,
for night owls like us, right?
Because now, you know, although, you know, we're used to staying
up late though, I guess, because it's going to feel later,
later on today. And let's talk about
this. All right. So the time has changed.
Welcome to November. Here we go. All right. So our
Our sunrise this morning, 6:26.
Our sunset this afternoon, 4:25.
Four forty four. Now, tomorrow, just for for comparison,
tomorrow is going to be six twenty seven for a sunrise, just
so you kind of have that mentally for when you wake up in the morning.
But I want to compare this to the end of the month here because I know.
It's tough, especially that sunset, right?
418 for our sunset by the end of the month, 702 for our sunrise.
So I just want to kind of put it all into perspective for you here.
As we've now crossed into November, we've crossed the time change.
As we talked earlier,
we had above average temperatures today on the order
of about 10 degrees above average on both the low and the high side.
So we're starting the month out on a warm note,
but it's going to start to get unsettled.
And what I mean by that.
That is some rain showers start to come in tomorrow afternoon,
maybe even some thunderstorms later on Tuesday as temperatures
could surge to near 70, depending on when the rain comes through.
That's Election Day, by the way.
Then we start to drop later on in the week.
But I'll tell you this, Mary,
because I think now that we're into November, which is hard to believe,
right, a lot of us are going, OK, when's the snow coming?
I don't see any snow.
Insight yet through the first half of the month.
So I'll end it there for you.
More rain than any snow coming into our forecast.
I'll detail your forecast in full coming up in a few minutes.
Back to you in the studio.
So you're saying, okay, you should be fine
with the rain because at least it's not snow.
I see what you're doing.
You like that?
Yeah.
That's psychological.
Glass half full?
Yes.
I like it.
I'll take it and run.
All right.
Speaking of running, you may be trying
to run for the holiday to see your family,
but surging jet fuel costs,
fueled in a big part by the conflict in Iran,
are sending holiday airfares soaring.
Though, as Fox Business correspondent Grady Trimble explains,
experts say there's still some ways to save a little bit of money.
If you plan on traveling over the holidays,
you may want to book your trip soon.
Airfare is at its highest level in more than a decade.
According to booking app Hopper, the average domestic round trip
for Thanksgiving is up about 39% from last year.
Christmas tickets are even more expensive,
at $452 for a domestic trip on average, up about 22% from last year.
And for some passengers,
the higher costs are already impacting their plans.
We're going to drive back up here.
From Raleigh, so not too long a drive,
but we don't want to spend the money on two flights.
Government data shows airfare has
been on the rise for 10 straight months
as the war in Iran causes jet fuel prices to climb.
To deal with the rising operating costs,
airlines are also cutting flights and tacking on fees.
We've seen jet fuel jump by 50, 75, 80 percent year over year.
So, you know, eventually the airlines
are going to pass it along to the consumers.
That's what you're seeing now.
But not only in higher ticket prices for airfare,
but also in higher baggage fees.
But carriers are also adding more capacity on some routes
this holiday season, a sign that demand is still strong.
And if you're looking to book right now,
experts say the key is to keep your options open.
Be flexible with your travel dates.
If you can travel on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day,
or you add plus or minus a day
to your request, you are likely going to save money.
Airlines say they expect fares to remain
high into the new year, even if fuel costs start to drop.
In Chicago, Grady Trimble, Fox Business.
Well, that's some good news.
Well, to the victor go the spoils.
The Brewers living their best life after the World Series champions,
and not just here in Milwaukee.
There is plenty of action in the NFC North Division,
even with the Packers having the day off today.
Tim Van Boren here in the studio with Fox 6 Sports in just a moment.
You're watching Fox 6 Sports
with sports director Tim Van Boren.
Since last Sunday, the Packers have overcome kicking
and rushing woes to beat the Panthers
and had more allegations come
to light about running back Josh Jacobs' behavior toward women.
In other words, it's a week in 2026 for the team.
Green Bay has Sunday off, but we'll be talking green
and gold tonight on the Fox 6 Sports Blitz.
Packers are about halfway to what?
We hope you'll stay up with us for the show.
It kicks off at 10.30.
Scary stuff in the NFC North Division this afternoon.
Lions linebacker Jack Campbell goes down at Ford Field after colliding
with Minnesota's T.J. Hockenson on a tackle attempt.
After a lengthy stoppage of play,
Campbell taken off the field on a stretcher.
Coach Dan Campbell says after the game
that the younger Campbell was breathing and alert at that time,
but no further updates,
still no further update on Jack Campbell's condition.
The game does resume.
The Lions make a monster fourth down stop
to preserve an 18-15 Detroit win.
19-15, actually.
That is the first setback of the season for the Vikings.
The Cardinals rally from a two-touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter.
All they need is the extra point to go through
at Dallas, and Chad Ryland misses it.
On the relay, check out Mike LaFleur, coach of the Cardinals.
He's learned how to deal with kicking foibles from older brother Matt.
He's seen it more than his share, so what are you going to do?
Ryland had made 58 straight points after touchdown.
He redeems himself as the Cardinals, embarrassing the Cowboys.
Speaking of embarrassing,
the Badgers absorbed a 30-0 beatdown yesterday at Iowa.
Well, that's an old-fashioned ass-whooping, and it doesn't feel good.
It doesn't feel good at anything, and you know what?
Again, were we prepared? Were we not prepared?
We didn't play like we were prepared today.
The prep playoffs are progressing,
and the high school blitz will resume this week.
Brandon Cruz will be in studio.
Lily Zhao at our Game of the Week
this Friday night on Fox 6 News at 10.
Finally, the Brewers' victory tour continues.
Christian Yelich, Bryce Turang,
and Pat Murphy make it onto Saturday Night Live
last night in New York City.
Wait a second. I see the world.
Don't worry, drunk uncle. It wasn't a dream.
And we have something in common, drunk uncle.
We've also been drinking since Wednesday.
And I'm the manager.
And that's kind of like being the drunk uncle of the team.
I did.
Hey, wait a minute.
I know you.
You're Pete Davidson, right?
Uncle and the world champion.
Ah, good stuff all the way around there.
Bryce Turang gets the best line about drinking since Wednesday.
I love that.
I never made that comparison, Pete Davidson.
Oh, yeah, Ted Ringers.
Ted Ringers, doppelgangers for sure.
Yeah, that is funny.
And, you know...
Mr. Murphy about, yeah, I'm the drunk uncle.
He's got the right touch and the right line for everything.
That was fantastic.
I didn't know they were going to be on.
There are probably actors who've waited their whole careers
and never got to hit that stage.
And they're like, come on, what's going on?
The Milwaukee Brewers?
You know,
these guys have really been on a ride since Wednesday night, right?
They've been incredibly busy.
The invite comes.
I think you say yes to Saturday Night Live.
I think you say yes.
And we are well represented.
Yes, indeed.
I'm very proud.
It's just been so awesome.
Let's keep it going.
Well, with Halloween just gone now a day,
it's time to start looking ahead toward the holidays.
And what a better way than with a little sweet treat
How you can get your hands on one of those coveted cookie books.
Well, now that Halloween is over, WeEnergies is ready to kick off the
2024 holiday season with You Know What?
That cookbook we've all known to grow in love.
This year's book features 38 different recipes
from home bakers across the state.
Inside, recipe submitters also offer baking tips and advice.
I'll come back to that.
There are many ways to get your hands on this year's cookie book.
Here's the thing.
It's going to be available online starting tomorrow at 8 a.m.
But if you do want to get your copy on a hard copy,
your hands on a hard copy,
WeEnergies is going to be handing those books out
at events across the state this month.
There's a distribution event in Port Washington tomorrow.
And then next Saturday, you can pick up a free copy
at American Family Field starting at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
It's just this beloved thing
and it's part of kind of the culture of kicking off the holiday
season here in southeastern Wisconsin where you can get in your car,
crank up your holiday tunes
and go pick up your free WeEnergy's cookie book.
You can download the cookie book,
online again starting tomorrow right away
first thing in the morning at 8 a.m.
just go over to the weenergies.com website.
But as I come back to that I remember I got
one many years ago and it was an epic flop.
I tried to make like cutouts. You know how hard
those are to make? So then there were tips on there.
They still didn't turn. It's harder than
you think. Oh I bet. Some of those recipes
though are easy tried and true. I think I just stick now
with like the bars they have. There you go.
But what a great idea. Yes it's the best. You get to
You get, like, some people have, well, yeah,
this is my grandma's recipe from 1950, whatever.
And it fits us so well here in Wisconsin,
right, because we are that type.
We're family, right, and we love our cookies.
And we need comfort food.
And we need comfort food.
You can feel it.
Now it's dark out, and you feel the chill in the air.
Where did October, well, we know where October went, right?
It flew, didn't it?
It went to baseball.
It went to baseball, and it was great,
and now November, and here we go, Mary.
Here's a live look out at the airport.
Where the sun has set before 4:45, by the way, 64 degrees.
That was our high today, 47 our low this morning.
So look at that.
We start out November
so much above average on both the high and the low side.
6:26, and that was our sunrise, 4:44, our sunset, I know.
I know.
It was nice to have the extra hour of sleep,
wasn't it, if you were able to sleep in.
My daughter amazingly did, although I know,
I remember when she was little,
And if you have babies, you know...
They don't ever adjust to the time change,
so I get it if you're tired today as well.
58 degrees, that's our current temperature.
The clouds are here, some drizzle at times as well.
Wind out of the southeast, 2.54.
Now, that is telling.
In that temperatures will not move out of the 50s tonight
because moisture levels are so high. So expect these air temperatures
to hold pretty steady air pressures on the higher side.
That'll come down as the week goes on as we have
a pretty big storm system that will come
in from the southwest temperatures 50s to around 60.
Again, not much change coming in tonight.
We have had some patchy drizzle here and there.
Not a big deal. Two storm systems of note.
This one here, which is mainly down to our southeast.
It's the southwestern system.
That's going to be the bigger one for us here.
And it's going to bring unsettled weather
our way starting tomorrow afternoon, continuing into Election Day.
All in all, though, I don't think it's going to be all-day washout.
So let's talk about this here.
Let's get into Sky Vision Plus,
show you more specifically what we're expecting.
And I want to show you the statewide view just so you can kind of get
an idea of where the storm is coming from and where it's going.
As we go throughout the night, cloudy skies,
some patchy drizzle, temperatures in the 50s.
Now, tomorrow morning, maybe some drizzle around here.
Steady rain off to the west.
Here's noon.
We're still pretty dry.
Again, cloudy.
Temperatures will be in the low 60s,
midday into the afternoon hours tomorrow.
Then as we go into the afternoon,
that's where you start to see some rain pick up a little bit.
Honestly, I don't think it's going to be very heavy.
Tenth of an inch or less tomorrow with this rain.
Steadier rains off to the west.
That especially works in the central and northern Wisconsin,
where they actually really need the rain.
They're in a big-time drought up there,
and that's going to be tomorrow night.
Again, light to occasionally moderate rain around here tomorrow night.
Now we go into Tuesday, and what you'll notice is, again, somewhat dry.
Election Day morning here.
Here you see the rain showers off to the west.
Then the expectation is after the noontime hour.
Tuesday, showers and even a few thunderstorms will start to move in.
Now, could have some heavier rains at times.
Later on Tuesday, but as of right now,
not expecting any severe weather out of this system,
but the wind will be picking up out of the southeast on Tuesday.
Look at this, up to 68 for a high.
So, I mean, you talk about a warm-up there,
then, oh, the November cool-down,
50s later in the week with more clouds around.
But, hey, Mary, no super cold weather and no snow in sight.
Back over to you.
Right, and for voting, you know, yeah,
a little bit of rain, but that 68 will feel good.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it'll feel real good.
Speaking of feeling good, we're known for a lot of things in Wisconsin.
Brats, cheese, and, oh yeah, beer, hence the name The Brewers.
Just ask Sal Frelick how The Brewers star coined a phrase that,
let's just say, is going a long way when we come back.
Well, throughout The Brewers parade and rally on Friday,
there have been so many iconic moments,
many of which involved, well, alcohol.
Welcome to Wisconsin.
There are The Brewers, of course.
One, though, stuck out a little bit more than the rest.
And I'm going to have a beer for every single person here.
I'm having 100,000 beers.
Let's go!
Ha, ha, ha.
Challenge accepted.
Gauntlet's been dropped.
That's beloved outfielder Sal Frelick.
He made those comments at the rally.
Wisconsinites, of course, well, they drunk it all in.
It was only a matter of time before someone put that on a T-shirt.
This gem being sold by Drink Wisconsinly.
Look at that.
100,000 beers.
There's Sal Frelick.
That's an awesome shirt.
I love it.
I love that.
I mean, everything about this is...
It's amazing.
I don't have the words to describe how amazing this has been.
We'll talk about this for years to come.
It was great.
And luckily, no major way.
It was actually a great day to have that many people.
Imagine if we were baking in the sun.
Oh, I know.
If it was super duper cold.
Yes.
We're back at nine.
We got a lot more coming your way.
Stay with us then.
And until then, have a good night.
