Should the Eagles Fire Nick Sirianni After Their Collapse?

And I want to ask you about, you know, your Eagles here.
And at the end of the season,
the game yesterday was just a train wreck.
It was just a train wreck for the Eagles here.
At the end of the year, Kevin,
can you fire a coach with a 670 win percentage,
who has made the playoffs every year,
has two NFC championships to his name and a Super Bowl?
Can you not give that guy a mulligan for the injuries on the team?
So I think you can because they've considered firing him,
what, three of the last four years, right?
Even in the Super Bowl year.
Yeah, they certainly considered firing him the year
that they lost to Tampa Bay in the first round
and last year after losing to the Niners.
So here we are again, and I think a good amount
of Sirianni's undoing is that he doesn't do anything.
It's so harsh, man.
He doesn't, he's an offensive guy who doesn't call the plays,
but does seem to meddle in the
offense a little bit to make things uneasy for everyone.
Do you know how insane it is for a
quarterback in Jalen Hurts has this long history,
new coordinator every year, but his head coach is
an offensive guy. And every year people have
to wonder what's going to happen with the off.
That's not a good recipe.
And if Sirianni is not going to call the plays,
well, then he has to make good in-game decisions.
I have watched that part of his coaching acumen slip.
He used to be on it.
He is not anymore.
And the best evidence of that might be the fact
that the tush push is now actively, in my opinion,
a negative play.
This is just life, right?
What's old is new.
And people have now remembered
that actually we don't need to do a tush push
and create a mosh pit.
Just sneak the ball.
Just line up in five wide and sneak the darn thing.
It's that simple.
And then the other item, right?
So we don't call the plays.
We don't make good game decisions.
I get my guys to play for me.
Will you tell me, Dan?
You tell me, you've been in the locker rooms.
Does it look like Nick Sirianni is getting
his guys to play for him this season?
No, no, no, not at all.
And on top of that, Kevin,
I think the one void that they're missing is this.
You know, when you lose Fletcher Cox,
you lose Jason Kelsey, you lose Lane Johnson,
you lose all of those leaders
and those veteran guys that were in the locker room.
When stuff hits the fan, you know what I'm talking?
I think the one void that Nick has.
Nick can't fill that void with leadership that he's supposed to have.
And I think that's the one thing that this team is missing, too.
When you need leadership, the coach has to fill that void, doesn't he?
Well, this is where I think there are some folks
who have to think about some of their Jalen Hurts opinions.
This wouldn't look like this if Jalen was there.
I promise you that.
This would not look like this.
And there are some people who thought that,
oh, give Tanner McKee a chance.
Hope you're enjoying it.
Kid's unplayable.
Kid's absolutely unplayable.
And I understand it's not the greatest situation.
The offensive line is banged up.
Wide receivers are hurt.
I'm not a fool, okay?
And it's not like Jalen Hurts was out there
putting up 300 yards a game in four times.
I understand, okay?
But everyone can, I think,
I think agree on the intangible stuff with Hurts.
And they've lost six games in a row.
And let's be real, their first two wins of the season were by,
what, two to Washington.
They missed the two-point conversion to tie it,
and then the comeback against the Titans.
I mean, they're not the furthest away from being the Chargers, right?
I mean, they're really not.
They're a bottom five in football right now.
Here's a number that will shock people.
They're a game and a half right now
from being the number one overall pick,
but they're also a game and a half.
Out from being in first place in the NFC East,
which makes it even more wild.
It shows you where the NFL is today.
Yeah.
The NFC East piece of it, though,
this is just my outlook, guys.
Like, they are clearly the worst team in the division right now.
And a bad team will win this division,
but it doesn't mean that the Eagles have to think
they're going to win this division.
And they're not going to win this division.
I thought one of the more telling moments
was a reporter asked Sirianni
if Devonta Smith was going to be shut down
for the season two weeks ago.
That wasn't a question that had crossed my mind.
But Sirianni didn't.
If Sirianni would have responded, that's a dumb question.
Then I'm like, yeah, of course it's a dumb question.
He didn't respond like that.
He's like, yeah, we're going to have to wait and see what goes.
Week five, you might shut down Devonta Smith.
So I just think the writing, this got away from fast, man.
And this got away from these guys.
Fast and look, I thought they would cover last night.
I was right for 90% of the game.
So that was annoying.
But this team losing games, I expect them to lose games.
I expect them to lose on a week.
They're a home underdog to JJ McCarthy.
Like it's not great.
