Aaron Philo QUESTIONABLE - Is It Tramell Jones Time?
Oct 17, 2026
He's good.
It's more outside things that he's going through.
So he posted a message about he's stepping away for a couple of days
just to kind of spend some time with some family.
So shout out to our guy Dave.
Prayers for him and his fam.
And that's why Mr. Harris is joining us here this evening.
So we'll get back after it.
Have ourselves a good show.
He should be good to go, I would believe, next week.
Love you, brother.
Big news of the day.
Gators quarterback A.A.
Philo is questionable headed into this Saturday,
which is now going to stir up the talk,
the conversation of QB1 for this Saturday.
Steve and I kind of, you know, tiptoed into it
before we had information on the health of like,
hey, is, you know, when is there a time to make a switch?
Are we there yet?
We had, I think, a very healthy conversation about it.
Look, I think Philo's been serviceable,
like we just said, kind of in lieu of Bailey.
But has he been, has he done enough given the circumstance, right?
Do we need to expand things some more?
Now that question may get answered come this,
this Saturday against Texas.
If we all saw Philo took some, some licks,
he even came out for a play where Trammell came
in before he ultimately took
over against South Carolina.
And I was wondering how he was going to, going to do with that.
We even heard, we talked on Monday, Steve and I did.
I felt like coach kind of spoke more highly of Trammell.
Like, Hey, yeah, he's taking reps.
It was a different vibe that I got.
I mentioned it.
I didn't really think too much of it,
but it felt like a change or a shift had happened, right?
In kind of comparison to how he talked to him before.
So that's got to be our first discussion here, gentlemen.
What are our thoughts on Philo being questionable?
Do we see him going?
I feel like you don't put this on there
if you don't feel like there's an opportunity that Trammell goes
or at least sees the field more times than not.
Hollywood, thoughts?
yeah uh i mean i agree it's it's a situation where it
was never really spoken about um typically
at the monday press conference summerall starts
every press conference off with hey here's where
we're at injury wise because he knows he's going
to get asked the question and to my knowledge i
did i i listened to it a while ago it's
been a few days i don't recall aaron filo's name coming up
So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out Saturday.
I do remember on Monday him saying,
because obviously the reporters were asking,
when is the time that you kind of maybe think about making a change?
Ideally, if you're Florida, during the bye week,
because you can prep somebody for the next game.
Things in football do not happen ideally.
So I'm not necessarily surprised to hear
that he's been taking some more reps
and could look to get an opportunity this weekend.
The offense has been a bit stagnant, so there's no hurt.
I mean, the old ball coach used to do it mid-game.
It's like, hey, it's not working.
Yank him out, put somebody else in, try to create some juice,
try to create some momentum.
So I don't necessarily think that this is an indictment of Aaron Philo,
you've been terrible.
It's more so, hey, things are getting a little stagnant.
maybe Trammell can give us a bit of a spark.
Yeah, I think, and I've kind of
realized over the last week or so
the conversation
has been a bit exhausting.
People have tagged me of like, oh, you wanted Aaron,
you wanted Aaron. Some of them
was like, shut the F up. I was like, okay, we've got to
understand here, we had the conversations
in the offseason. I believe
that Aaron Philo would be named the starter
and that he was the best fit
for this offense. I think I checked all those
boxes. He was named the
starter and showed you to be a proper solution
when this system was running at full at full
strength nobody had any questions week four nobody like it
was quiet we're seeing a breakdown in the
system and yeah i never claimed that aaron filo
was going to be this lord send of you know be
able to break all these things out i knew exactly what aaron filo
was going to be good at and what
he was needed to do well now that that's break broken away
because obviously there's just the
o-lines getting a ton of pressure his ability
to extend the pocket is not maybe the same as
what Trammell's could be and that's I think where
Trammell can maybe provide like you said Connor a
spark to the offense I think his instinct to run
as well where Philo like we could see he knows
how to run he can run he showed you that his instinct
is to not do that and when your pocket's
breaking down sometimes you got to just tuck it
and go and I think Philo is definitely thinking
I want to throw first which you love 90% of the time
and how things are working right now it's
not favorable. So, I
agree. I think it's not
an indictment on Philo. The guy's
sixth in the SEC for QBR. He's
I think sixth or seventh on passing
yards. I mean, those things look good.
It's just not working. And so,
if this guy can come in, extend
the field a little bit, whether it be his
legs, his arms, his
arm at times, I'm so for
it. The part that I was getting frustrated
with, because those people that were giving me
flack are also kind of
mocking and cheering against Philo. It's like,
Okay, first of all, I never cheered against Trammell.
Like, that's where we differ.
We're all cheering for the University of Florida to be successful.
And I always made that very clear.
That's why I was like, this is becoming a weird battle
because I'm not cheering for one in the hopes of failure of the other.
You asked me who I thought, from my opinion,
who I believe would start and who would be the best fit.
I stood by that.
I don't really feel like I was wrong in that take.
I think I actually lived up to those expectations.
Circumstances have changed.
And look, obviously, I think he truly is injured.
I think he got whacked enough last week that he probably shouldn't go.
Trammell is going to be thrown into not the best situation
if he does get thrown in that I'm also not a fan of.
I don't think it's fair to Trammell
to be thrown into a hostile environment
on the road versus Texas, which is going to be one of the most violent
defenses we've played up until this point.
So here's the other part I know what's going to happen.
Let's say he goes out there and has a bad day.
People are going to say, see?
And the people who wanted him are going to be like,
Well, it's because Texas.
Both are right.
Both are going to be right.
That's what's going to happen here.
Or he crushes it, and we're like, we're out.
Hell yeah.
Go ahead, Conor.
I'll let you go, Remar.
I was going to say, you know what it reminds me of?
It reminds me of when everybody was pissed off at Dan Mullen.
Feeling pretty good about our guy Micah Alejandro from Hawaii.
Then we've got, of course, King Miller with USC.
Get some rush touchdowns.
I know we don't like FSU around these parts,
but I think Ashton Daniels is going to use his little legs
in this upcoming week for some nice football
to get him more in his rushing yard.

PrizePicks, it is good to be right
when he threw Anthony Richardson in against Georgia it it
reminds me of that because everybody's like we want
this guy we want this guy we want this guy
and then the coach throws him in against
the at the time Georgia was probably one of the best
defenses we've seen in the last five to ten years
um obviously this Texas defense is not that but
they are fantastic Will Muschamp's obviously
great defensive coordinator and the struggles
along our offensive line we're going against probably
the best pass rusher maybe in college
football in Colin Simmons where it it's it's almost like it's
a tough situation because
if Philo does is not able to go Tramiel's kind
of stuck in between a rock and a hard place where
it's like everybody wanted him to go start
but man this is a tough one to start out with
