24 hours away from a historic tip off at Boo Holla.
Get ready for a sea of lavender for Halloween
as Valkyries fans take over the city for the winner.
Take all game seven of the WNBA finals.
KTVU Fox 2 News at 5 starts now.
And good evening, I'm Claudine Wong.
Tip-off for the Valkyries-Atlanta Dream matchup
is set for 5 o'clock tomorrow at Chase Center.
The big game happening on a day that was already expected
to be a busy one in San Francisco.
That's because tomorrow, of course, is Halloween.
Thousands of people will be out across the city celebrating,
and police and transit officials are bracing for big crowds.
KTU's Jana Katsuyama joining us live with more on how
the city is getting ready for this wild weekend ahead.
Jana, so much to talk about.
Oh my goodness, yes. I mean, the Warriors are playing
the Lakers tonight, and it is going to be full, but...
Imagine tomorrow. It's going to be a Saturday night, WNBA, NBA Finals,
Game 7, 18,000 people inside, plus Thrive City packed, and a lot
of people coming along the city streets for Halloween celebrations.
We talked to a lot of people with the city,
with SFMTA, about this convergence of Boo Holla,
Ball Halloween, and Halloween celebrations.
San Francisco is getting ready for a super packed Saturday.
It being Halloween and then with the addition
of the Valkyries in the finals.
It's going to be a lot of people in the city.
Some 18,000 people are expected at Chase Center for the historic
Golden State Valkyries WNBA Game 7 finals on Saturday night.
San Francisco police say they are preparing.
So the police department has increased staffing tremendously for this.
It's an all-hands-on-deck type situation.
We expect a lot of people to be in the city,
and so we will have a lot of officers in response to that.
Those crowds coming on top of the thousands of people expected for.
for Halloween parties and big celebrations.
Clothes!
At Cliff's Variety in the Castro,
there were last-minute costume shoppers,
but forget about getting anything close to Valkyrie's Violet.
All of our purple boas, all of the purple netting,
all of the purple wigs.
Anything that we had that was the right color or close to it has gone.
The Castro expected to draw thousands of people to the city
for the annual Halloween celebration and night market from 5 to 10 p.m.
It's going to be pretty crazy and pretty epic out here tomorrow,
so it's going to be a lot of fun.
Vendors saying ultraviolet is in ultra demand.
A lot of the...
People in the neighborhood was saying,
you need to bring more purple out here.
You need to, you know, it's a Valkyrie.
So I was like, yeah, for sure.
I have that.
It's going to be crazy out here.
It's going to be so much fun.
Officials are urging people to take public transit Saturday.
SF Muni is running extra service.
We're also running something called the 76 Express,
and that's a direct shuttle that
will take people coming from the 16th Street BART station.
To Chase Center and then, of course, back after the game as well.
The SFMTA says also beware.
There are extra street closures for Halloween trick-or-treaters.
We got a record number of submissions for our permits this year.
So we're really excited to have kids have
the option to get around trick-or-treating safely.
So definitely be careful out there
with all those little trick-or-treaters.
One thing, if you dropped hundreds
or maybe even thousands of dollars on a ticket for the game,
Muni says you can use that as your Muni fare tomorrow.
And also, one thing about BART, we checked with them.
They said that they are running regular Saturday service.
So just make sure you get on that last train
that goes out of the city at 12:30 a.m.
