Men's College Hockey Games to Watch Oct. 30 - Nov. 1
1 Video View·Oct 31, 2026
Are you a men's college hockey fan?
My name is Amelia Ballingall, here with College Hockey on SI,
and we're counting down three games
you won't want to miss this weekend.
Coming in at number three, we have Providence versus Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats will be the first-ranked team
that the undefeated Friars will face,
which will be a good test for them heading
for the challenging Hockey East slate.
The Bobcats hold a 4-2 record,
but still potted three goals in each of their two losses,
and currently average a second-in-the-nation five goals per game.
This could serve as a really telling matchup
for which conference is stronger, Hockey
East or ECH.
Coming in at number two,
we have Minnesota Duluth versus Colorado College.
Minnesota Duluth was ranked third in the NCHC pre-season poll
and Colorado College was ranked
sixth.
But the Tigers have been defying the odds, and the only loss they have
so far was 3-2 in overtime against No. 17 UConn.
Minnesota Duluth has been picking up the pieces after having Max Plant
out of the lineup with an upper body injury since Week 1 of the season.
They still have quality scoring, but could this leave
an opening for Colorado College to leapfrog the NCHC?
Coming in at No. 1, we have Michigan State versus North Dakota.
Both of these teams had their win streaks cut short last weekend,
with North Dakota being swept by Minnesota on the road,
and Michigan State splitting their series at UMD.
This should be an interesting goaltending matchup,
with Michigan State freshman goaltender Joshua
Ravenburgh catapulting himself to the top of the NCAA,
with a .957 save percentage and a 1.26 goals against average.
Meanwhile, North Dakota has been relying
on the reigning NCHC goaltender of the year in Jan Schoonar.
But Schoonar has had a rough start to the season
with an .857 save percentage and a 3.57 goals against average.
And if either of these teams get on the power play,
neither of these goaltenders will have an easy task at hand.
Michigan State's power play is at 38.1%, and North Dakota's is at 34.6.
These are really impressive numbers, and it should make
for an interesting competition, especially if things get heated.
With both teams trying to stop a backslide and stay in the top 10,
this is a game you won't want to miss.
