AI GeneratedQ Harrison Terry, a North Texas resident, is preparing for the Great World Race, an extraordinary challenge involving running a marathon on each of the seven continents within seven days. Beyond the athletic feat, Terry is using the journey to raise awareness and funds for veterans' housing through the Veteran Empowerment Organization and the Vigilant Torch Foundation.
The Great World Race. Have you heard about this? Runners from around
the world will do a marathon on each continent in seven days.
Joining me, Q Harrison Terry. He lives here in North Texas
and you're heading to Antarctica this weekend.
One, tell me how you feel. Are you rested up? Are you ready?
Dude, it's surreal, but yes, I'm definitely ready, so I'm excited.
Please tell me, how did you get into running first off?
Because we met a couple of weeks ago,
but you also said you weren't a lifelong runner,
so why now?
No, so I actually hated running.
My mom put me in cross country in middle school, high school,
and then I hated getting up at 6
a.m. The minute I could quit that, I quit it.
A year ago, I got back into running.
I liked the concept of taking 20,000 steps to clear my mind.
And one thing turned into a half marathon,
and half marathon turned into a marathon.
And then ultimately, I was just like,
you know what, let's run around the world.
And so I'm doing that and that's how I got into it.
Let's run around the world like it's just it's nothing.
Now, I've heard this, this, this race, this trip, it's not cheap.
Tell me what went into financially
and just physically preparing for what you're about
to what you're about to do.
No, I totally understand.
So I'm going to run around the world, but it's not about me. It's
actually about the veterans.
So I'm actually working with the Veteran Empowerment Organization
and the Vigilant Torch Foundation.
And what we're going to be doing is helping the veterans that
went around the world but don't necessarily have a place to go
when they get back from their
service. We're going to be donating to that.
So we're raising about a million dollars to
make that happen. And so this campaign
is a part of that awareness. Wow.
So starting in Antarctica, then going to Africa, Australia, Asia,
Europe, South America, and then it ends in the United States, in Miami.
One, have you been to every continent?
And two, what are you looking forward to?
I mean, of course you're running, but I mean,
you're going to every continent in a week.
Yeah, so the preparation was obviously the hardest part,
and so I actually started working
with AI.
Everyone's talking about use AI, use AI,
so I started working and building my own little
AI system to actually help me train for this.
And so every day since last fall,
I've been pretty consistent about my training regimen,
and it's been personalized to me.
I'm excited.
I would say Antarctica is gonna be a little gnarly.
It's gonna be super cold.
But we've prepared ourselves, and that's what we're doing.
So I'm excited.
What keeps you going?
I know you said you're doing this for the veterans.
What keeps you going in this?
So for me, it's kind of twofold.
One, it's like, I will be one of the first people to do this.
And there's like less than 400 people that do it in the world.
So that's exciting in itself.
And then the commitment to me is like, it's much bigger than me.
I've been chosen to do this and
embark on a journey that represents
a very prominent cause in the sense that every
veteran should have a home when they return.
And I'm excited to do that. So my why is like,
Like, you know,
The troops have went out
and done a lot of amazing things for us. This is one of the
few things that I get to do and I'm not a veteran,
so it feels great to support.
Q Harrison Terry about to run across the world literally. Hey,
we gotta have you back when you finish it, man.
Yes, sir. Thank you so much and thank
you to all the veterans that are watching.
Thank you. Good luck, man. Safe travels.
