Hi I'm Mike with House on the Mend
and in this video we're going to be reviewing the
Everblog smart calendar
but you will see it is way more than just a calendar.
Oh, son of man.
So full disclosure Everlog did send me
this smart calendar for free for my independent review.
We're going to go through lots of the features including
this awesome stylus that is very handy
to use. It also just magnetically clicks right there. Now.
I'm going to have several chapters in this video first
of which is going to be an overhead shot
where we unbox and we link this to our calendars.
If you've already done that or you're not
interested in that you can fast forward
to the next thing we're going to do which is go through
all of its features. All right here's the accessories
that come with the calendar. You have
I have a plug and a USB-C to USB-C
Cable, you have a scraper.
This is a little level right here, and a stylus.
That's cool.
As you can see right here, this is for leveling this plate.
Now if you're wondering, like me, how are you going
to get a magnetic calendar to stick on stainless steel?
Magnetically, you're not.
This metal plate has a 3M adhesive on the back.
You'll put that on first with the level to make sure
that it's just right, and then you bring
your calendar up and listen to this.
That is highly magnetic. Brilliant!
A couple things to note before we even open up
the unit is a 5 gigahertz band for your Wi-Fi.
So there are two Wi-Fi's in your house typically.
There is the faster 5 gigahertz and then there is
the 2.4 which most of your internet of things,
refrigerators and coffee makers and
Thank
Amazon Alexa, all those sorts of things tend
to work off the slower band where this one is using
the full speed. That's pretty cool.
Another thing, most of your household chargers are 10 watts.
This one is 20 watts. And as you can see here,
you.
this is receiving an input of nine volts at two
amps. So if you look on here,
it says that that's going to give it 20 watts of power. So
Very cool, it should charge relatively quickly.
All right, the first task of the day
is to peel off this protective film.
So let's do that.
So before we pull off this screen cover here,
let's go over a few things.
Here is where you power on and off the unit.
You have volume up and down, an earphone jack for some reason.
If you need to reset the unit, that hole for that is right up here.
You have two speakers.
Type-C is where you charge the unit, and what is not in here
but there's a slot for it is a micro SD card.
Now, when you're using your stylus, look at this.
It has a magnetic spot right up top to hold the stylus.
That is so cool.
All right, let's peel it off and take a look at... oh that is pretty.
Look at that like smoky glass film there.
This was our power if I recall,
so a really long time to boot up.
There
we go.
Kind of standard with electronic devices like iPads and iPhones.
We want to go English in our case.
Then I'm going to link it to our faster internet connection.
Hit confirm.
Standard date and time format. So I'll quickly do that.
And interestingly, once you set your time
zone, it already knows the date and time.
You don't even need to adjust that. It must be picking that
off of your Wi-Fi.
So the device name is Calendar E2 Pro.
I don't have any desire to change it from that,
but I am going to move its location to the kitchen.
Let's try out our stylus for this next part.
It wants you to create a unique email address for your calendar.
Stylus works great, so let's create.
Created successfully.
All right.
Now, there's an app that you're obviously going
to want to download so that it can link
to the calendar that you're using,
either iOS calendar or the Google calendar.
All right, I downloaded the Everblog calendar app.
I created an account, and now we want to link a device.
So you have to go through the whole menu to get to this spot.
But nonetheless, here it is.
So let's put in this code they gave us.
This times out really quick. I think we can change that in settings.
Yes screen on time 15 seconds.
That's kind of dumb. Let's leave it for like two minutes.
Nice that we can change that. Now I want
to link our calendar. Synchronize online calendar.
So in our case we're going to sync a Google
calendar. This is what's on our Google calendar.
I'm going to let it sync all of those.
So right in the middle of syncing our calendar,
it decided to update the system on its own.
So that's done. Let's see if it actually...
We've got some things up here that it looks like
might be... Boom! There we go. It took a little bit.
All right, cool. So we are linked.
I wonder...
What it looks like if we put it...
There we go.
Now we have week. How about month? Oh yeah.
So very cool. We can go week, month, what's happening
just today with the calendar on the side.
And what's this? S. This is what just today. So very
standard to Google Calendar.
Let's go back to month and it puts everything in there so you can
You can read it. You can quickly go to that and say, what is that?
Brings it up. Who created it?
You can edit it or delete it right on the refrigerator if you want.
That is very cool.
Well now that we have the unit all paired,
we are ready to install it onto the refrigerator and go
through a lot of the features. There is a film on the back.
You leave this one on. Don't peel that
off. That is going to help from getting any scratches
on your refrigerator. Now I was pleasantly
surprised to see that this unit without
that metal plate that was included sticks readily to
A stainless steel refrigerator, really tight.
You can click the button here to turn it off and on.
And unless you're really getting after it.
It sticks pretty well. I polished the refrigerator
so it was nice and clean before you started so you
can see it moving. But with standard taps it's great.
Let's go through some of the features.
First of all the calendar.
You can set the calendar for a week like we have here.
You can go the whole month
Which is much smaller font, so I prefer the week.
You can even go the day,
so when you wake up each morning you can come over here.
You can either click the button as you walk up.
If it has timed out you can take the stylus
and tap on it a few times or your finger
and it will wake up. That's a little spotty but it does work.
Or you can go into the settings
and there is a function where you can set it
to sense the refrigerator opening.
And it will automatically turn on.
Now the first thing I do when I come out in the morning isn't
necessarily to open up the refrigerator.
I like to check on the coffee maker and do a few other
things. So just to walk over here
and hit the power switch is going to be great for me.
And you can see what all you have to do on the calendar.
Now the one thing I did notice
When you go to the weekly calendar, as we like to see it here,
you come over and you bring up, say,
a date where you want to add an event, it comes right up. That's great.
When you go through here,
you click whatever you want to write for the actual event,
then you can go and set the times for that, start time, stop time.
And if you at that moment right there try to save it,
it will not save. Instead you have to continue
on with this part that's hidden by the keyboard,
and that is personal information. For some reason
you have to select one of these.
I think these are your linked calendars. So for example,
Thank you
holiday calendar and then ours
are broken up way more than I ever thought but you have to
very much
select one of the types of calendars and then save it
for your
and it will come up. Sadly when you create
time, and I'll
An event on this calendar, there is no place to put in the address
see you
next time.
and it also doesn't link to your phone unless you're using their app.
So if you use your standard.
calendar like for instance my wife
and i share everything on a google calendar
when you make something on your calendar of your phone
it will automatically import onto the calendar on the fridge calendar
but it doesn't work
vice versa so this event that i made here will not appear on the phone
and even if it did
It doesn't have the address.
Nowadays, we like to go into where we're heading
and right there is the address.
You can click on that.
It opens maps and takes you right there.
It doesn't have that feature.
So for our uses, we're not going to actually create.
from the calendar on the refrigerator instead we'll create everything
as we've always done
right on our phone so that pretty well covers
the calendar next let's go through some of the other
features so right below the calendar is chores you can come in here
and you can set up chores
you can break it down by person so the kids could come out
and see what you have listed for them
Thank
If you come over to rewards, I don't know why you would want
to reward them with stars instead of praise,
but if you want to reward the kids with stars on here
for getting their chores done, you can do that.
you.
Meal plan is another one.
So you can come up here and you can map out what
you're going to make for the week.
My wife used to do that on a whiteboard and
everybody would know what there's going
to be for which week and then you can
make sure hey I'm heading
into town today I can pick up these things for you
if you need that.
So that could be pretty handy.
There is an AI fridge feature where you can take this tablet,
open up your fridge, take
a photograph, and it will supposedly, with AI,
tell you every ingredient that you have
in your refrigerator.
And based on that, it can write a suggested meal plan.
Well, I just don't find that realistic.
We have a lot of dry goods in our pantry
and then seasonings that are in a different cabinet.
So I guess you could get basic things if it senses there's a chicken
or something like that.
Nonetheless, it has that feature,
but that doesn't interest us in our home.
Next, let's go over the to-do list.
So.
When you open up this list it comes pre-made with other shopping
and to-do items and you can see
right now they all have zero items on there.
So you would think intuitively that if you go
right down to this blue circle with the plus sign
That would be the way to add something to that list,
but it doesn't, it creates a new one over
here. So instead, if you go to say to do,
you have to come all the way over here to the much
more subdued, add a subtask. And then you can say like,
Vacuum and that will come up under the to-do list.
So I wish they would switch those around
because it's not very intuitive to have it way over in this corner.
Finally in photos if you
want you can import your photos via their app on your phone.
Allow them to manage that and that
will come up here and you could have it going through your photos.
Just like perhaps on your Amazon Echo device
which would be kind of nice but the one thing
I would caution you about this screen going all day
is I have noticed if you look right over here
that our battery life with me just playing with this for the last three
or four days this week
has already gone down into the mid 40s
so you by just opening it up checking the calendar
adding a few things maybe putting some things
on the to-do list marking some things off
are going to be charging this device at least once
or twice a week so if you
have the photos going through it it
is going to burn through that battery
Now, if we head out of the normal features up to here,
you can see we have a really nice
grid where it has a little bit of everything.
It has the calendar, chores, rewards,
to-do lists, meal plan, refrigerated.
The photos we were just talking about,
it has the weather if you import the city that you're in.
That's pretty cool.
And then if you look over here in this small little box
in the lower right corner, you can see apps.
Now.
I'm not a big person for opening up apps
and things on a tablet attached to the refrigerator,
but I will say if you go into the YouTube feature,
you can bring up, like for me,
my favorite pressure cooking YouTube channel.
You can go through here and see what's going on.
You can start and click a video.
It comes up with a commercial.
But that is a great deal to look at what you're doing while you're say
over here at the countertop mixing and preparing a meal.
So I do like that
feature while it's right here
but just keep in mind the battery life is not great.
One other thing I will say about being over in the YouTube area
and trying to get out of one
of these apps is there's no easy way to get out.
It's just backing up through all the features
you've done to get out of the app.
You actually have to come way over here as you can see.
Swipe over and open up the home circle.
That is very hard to find.
I wish they would change that in an update or something like that.
So if you found this video helpful,
will you please give it a thumbs up? That's really
helpful to the channel. Also please consider subscribing.
I work really hard to put out
good quality, efficient reviews of products
and I'd like to really thank Everblock for
sending us this smart calendar.
We're going to get a lot of use out of it. It is really
a smart and pretty design.
I just wish that some of the little quirky features could be fixed.
And I wish the battery life was a little bit better.
But leave me a comment down below.
Do you have one of these?
What did you think of it?
If you have any questions on something I didn't cover,
you can also leave those down below.
I respond and read all my comments.
Until next time, thank you for watching.
