It's across the country.
We talk about, you know, the geography,
but then let's talk about the past and the present.
And the Brewers, former Brewers, those stars,
they are in this moment, too.
They're here today.
Our Brian Poulsen caught up with another Brewers legend.
How does this feel today?
This feels like a whole different place.
Obviously, it's the same place,
but there's one major difference,
and that's we're champions.
And we're all champions here.
82 has been...
Revived and 26 and made it all happen for all of us.
You were a St. Louis Cardinal before coming to the Brewers
and then being on the Brewers during that 82 series.
How difficult was it to get that close
and not be able to bring home the trophy back then?
Well, it's horrible.
Seven games, everyone dreams about playing in as a kid,
five years old, seventh game of the World Series.
I hit a home run.
Everybody says that to themselves.
And you get to the seventh game, and you're there,
and you really can't believe it.
And when you get there, you think you're going to win.
And when you don't, it's just demoralizing, to say the very least.
You can ask Robin about how he feels about 82.
Never got over it. None of us have.
We're now over it, because this group has made it happen for all of us.
You know, Robin said something to that effect.
It sounds like you're saying there's some healing from this victory.
There's what?
There's some healing that comes from this victory.
Absolutely.
It's all about that.
We all feel like champions now.
We didn't lose in 82.
They had a parade just like this.
And I turned to Eddie Romero and I said,
Hey, these people are acting like we won.
And we had just lost the seventh game.
And the people came anyway.
Now they're here.
For the real reason.
But that seems to say something about this community,
that they would hold a parade after losing the World Series,
and now look at this.
What does that say to you about
the baseball fan experience in Milwaukee?
Bud Selig had it right years and years ago when he said,
we want the Seattle Pilots to come here.
Milwaukee is a major league baseball town, and nobody believed him.
Well, let's see who's right.
It's a major league town.
Look around.
Have any doubts?
Look around.
Looks like a world championship team to me.
Ted, thank you very much.
All right.
Ted Simmons, legendary Milwaukee Brewer,
that 1982 squad that went to the World Series.
