My favorite things to see down at the Trop, two guys walked by me,
one had a Tupelo baseball jersey, the other had a Mississippi State,
and I stopped him, I said, you guys with Woodruff?
Because he went to Tupelo High School,
played baseball at Mississippi State.
You know, he throws the ball hard and he throws it to William Contreras
and Sam caught up with the MVP a few moments ago,
let's give that a listen.
Milwaukee's newest MVP.
To hear them say that, what do you feel right now?
I love it. I love it to be honest.
I don't even know what I feel right now.
I mean, I'm so glad to be Milwaukee Brewers.
I'm really happy for the city and let's go.
Milwaukee Brewers, let's go!
You guys won everything on the road just to have this parade.
Can you, like, has it sunk in yet?
Yeah, yeah.
That's why we play hard.
That's why we play hard because we want
the people to feel like that in the city.
So now everybody's a champion.
How does it feel to be a World Series champion?
I feel great.
I feel like I'm number one.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
That's really something special there.
Okay, for a couple of things.
The access that Sam Kramer
and our photographer Mickey Leach have on those buses here on Fox 6,
pretty cool to be a partner for this parade,
the partner for this parade broadcast.
You're not getting that in most situations.
And to hear William Contreras in English.
He does speak English.
English understands it very well
but does not conduct many interviews in English
partly because he doesn't want something
to be misconstrued in a baseball context
and did you say the wrong thing about the opponent
or your pitcher or whatever it might be.
That was just pure joy and he felt comfortable sharing with Sam.
And thank you for pointing it out
because fans will often see the question being asked in English.
He understands it. He'll respond in Spanish.
And then Daniel De Montessori.
He's a coach and the interpreter
for the Spanish-speaking players will answer in English.
So that is kind of a rare treat to see him answer
the question in English as well.
So, um...
Oh, on the field the other day.
After the game, I talked to Wilson Contreras, his brother,
who 10 years ago with the Chicago Cubs won a World Series.
So now both brothers have World Series rings.
And he had literal tears in his eyes.
He was choked up for his younger brother.
Very excited, very proud of him.
And I said, what are you most proud of?
His hitting, his catching, he said, his leadership.
And that is a key reason he was also named MVP.
Yeah, no doubt he is the leader on that team.
From the position player standpoint, for sure.
Wilson Contreras is a fiery player in his own right
and has had some battles against the Brewers over the years.
We knew he was there the other day.
Brandon Cruz and I were in the auxiliary press box,
and we weren't sure where he was sitting,
but we knew somewhere he was crowding the guy next to him.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Oh, that's a little inside baseball humor.
Back to inside baseball humor.
Baseball season is such an unusual season
when you really try to compare it to other professional sports
because obviously the length of time, the...
The frequency of the games,
162 games in 180 days, it's part of your summer.
It is your companion.
They go on a 10-game road trip,
they play every day, and they have a day off,
and people go, what am I going to do tonight?
I don't care what's the game on TV, what do I do?
It's really part of the fabric,
and I think that's why the connection is so strong.
