You know, at the end of the year, somebody comes,
taps you on the shoulder, says, no more games, that's it, you did it.
Has it officially sunk in that you guys are World Series champions?
Not quite, you know, you're still in kind of game mode,
battle mode, whatever, and it all happens,
and you're like, whoa, this really happened, you know.
You're at home, any words for the fans?
Yeah, I'm just, I'm so thankful for them,
really, to be honest with you.
The energy that they brought, and our players felt it.
There's a difference between showing up and being involved.
They didn't just show up.
They were involved, and they did it from starting in September.
You could start feeling it build, and our players respond to it.
Why do you think they identify with this team
so much, and you in particular?
I don't know about me, but I feel like
they identify with the team because
They see that it's a team.
They see that it's, you know, a group that cares about each other,
to pick each other up.
You know, nobody has to do it that day
because they know they've got someone else that will pick them up,
so it takes pressure off them.
And they see that energy between the team,
and you fall in love with a team like that that plays hard every night,
that cares about representing Milwaukee the right way.
So that marriage of fans and players doesn't happen very often,
but it definitely happened organically this year.
How fitting was it to have Christian Yelich holding the trophy?
How fitting was it for the captain to have it?
No question.
I mean, that whole thing of making him captain
was just a delightful thing,
to have him represent the way he did,
and he did it throughout the postseason in a huge way.
We've heard from so many people
who say this team is full of guys that they can emulate.
The kids can look up to, there's no bad guys.
Is that something you coach,
something that they have, or a mix of both?
It's who they are, you know, there's some great people.
I mean, we've got some guys still under construction, like all of us,
but that's par for the course, you know.
These are young people with still young minds,
but the way they represented.
The city, the state, the organization, it's just unbelievable.
And they affect each other.
You know, they get affected by each other as much as anyone.
We have people already lined up for the parade tomorrow,
already got chairs out on the route.
That's how much this means to the city.
What do we have to do?
What do we have to do with the parade?
Is there like a performance or something we've got to give?
Are you going to sing?
I mean.
But that's how much this means to them.
I could do stand-up, maybe stand-up, but I don't know about singing.
That's how much this means to them.
What's it going to mean to you when we're
cruising downtown Milwaukee tomorrow?
Yeah, I mean, I'm just really happy for the community.
Like, everybody here that loves the Brewers
and that follows Wisconsin sports teams,
you know, we've had a lot of great sports teams here,
and now it's time for the Brewers.
And I'm happy for the organization,
and, you know, it'll be a great event.
I hope everybody stays safe.
I think it's safe.
Really, really does it in a class way.
We've been asking people when that third out hit,
who's on their mind, family or friends.
Who are you thinking of last night when you get
that third out in your baseball life or your personal life?
You know, I just said, thanks, Uke.
You know what I mean?
Because I know he was with us the whole time.
And I think I said something like, there it is, Uke.
That one's for you.
You know, and.
It's fitting, you know, he was part of the ears and the minds
of people in the state for so long and I think it was fitting.
But we all think about people, you know,
you think about people in your life that have passed maybe
and that didn't get to experience this with you.
You just feel grateful and thankful to my coaches.
I'm thankful to the players, the organization,
the front office, you know, you get like that
way, you know, right away, you're like, wow,
this is, I'm really thankful to be part of
this.
What do you think you could say during the parade?
Yeah, he'd have a lot to say.
You know him, he can come up with it better than anybody.
So I'll leave that to your imagination.
You celebrated last night in Tampa, you're home now.
How do you celebrate tonight ahead of tomorrow?
I'm not a big celebration guy. I just love talking to people
and being around people and listening to stories and laughing.
We did it the whole way home on the flight. We did it last night,
just telling stories and laughing and making fun of each other.
It was a great time.
Have you guys gotten a chance to see the clips
of the watch parties all throughout Wisconsin?
I heard about them, but I haven't seen anything.
I've got a lot of messages on my phone to return.
Where did I put my phone? Okay.
Okay.
You know, I've got a lot of messages in return.
I haven't looked at anything, so I haven't seen anything.
I'm waiting for that.
There'll be time for that.
I got two little ones with me, so they're the priority right now.
Is that part of the magnitude just not yet setting in?
You haven't seen the millions yet who have had this hit them?
No, I mean, it just, again, like I'm thinking about my schedule today,
what I have to do today, and then all the stuff we're doing tomorrow
and the next day and the next day, and that's all I'm thinking about.
You picked out your outfit for the parade?
My what?
Your outfit.
Are you going to wear a special shirt or something?
Do I look like an outfit guy to you?
Thanks Skip.
Thank you.
We'll let you go.
Appreciate it.
