Looking at a tough weekend for drivers around western Washington.
Closures on both I-5
and 405 could scare off some Halloween plans for many in those areas.
Sean Chini is live this morning with more
on what you need to prepare for.
Hey John, good morning.
So we are now here on 405 working our way south. Like you said,
one of the two major challenges that folks will be facing right now.
Of course, it is open right
now. Traffic really just beginning to pick up for the morning.
But let's talk about the big two,
beginning with the next phase of Revive I-5.
That phase is going to take its next step here
tonight. All northbound lanes between I-90
and Northeast 45th Street will be closed.
through Monday morning.
This is so that they can remove the work zone that is on the Ship Canal
Bridge and then they can allow all northbound lanes to reopen.
It is weather dependent. You
heard that things looking pretty good though.
Rain could delay this stage of the process.
Crews need to open up
the two right northbound lanes. For months though,
they've been working on the bridge deck. After this weekend's closures,
all lanes of the freeway will reopen across the Ship Canal Bridge.
Okay, so where we are now
Here on 405 from SR 527 to SR 522.
That's what we're driving right now here in Bothell.
That's going to close all southbound lanes starting tonight at 10.
This will also go until Monday morning.
There will be a detour in place.
The adjacent on and off ramps closed.
And we know that this is even going to impact
the trick-or-treating event on Main Street
that's been rescheduled to tonight instead
of actually on Halloween to deal with this closure.
One more for you.
Contractors are closing the Skagit River Bridge on SR 536.
That starts on Sunday.
Traffic will need to detour.
From I-5 to SR-20, and that is going to last two weeks before they
are able to reopen both of those lanes.
So we are monitoring all of these situations,
working to see what options you will have,
and have some updates for you as well
on that coming up in the hours ahead.
Guys, back to you.
