I'm starting a coloring book brand called Pelton Press, so I gave ChatGPT and Lovart 2.0 the exact same brief, word for word, and ran them head to head: a logo, a book cover and a Pinterest pin, then a note to fix the logo, then the cover for book two in the series.
This video is sponsored by Lovart.

Design a brand of your own in Lovart and tell me about it in the comments. I'd love to see it.

⚠️ Transparency: Some links may be affiliates; I only recommend tools I'd use myself.
Same side hustle, same brief, two AI tools.
The first is ChatGPT, which you probably already have open.
The second is Lovart 2.0,
which just launched with Arty, your first design agent.
One of them gave me something I would actually put
on my coloring book that I've been working on.
Lovart is sponsoring this video,
and I want to show you how the results compare.
The side hustle that I've been working
on is I published a coloring book on Amazon.
It's never had a real brand.
I just kind of put something together.
It was demonstrating different features
of different coloring book making software.
And I've done several of these different coloring books
and books and low content books and
things like that to, you know, show off Amazon,
Kindle, direct publishing, but I've never
really had a brand.
So today I decided I want to have a brand.
And again, I'm an engineer.
I am not creative.
So I like alliterations.
So I went with Pelton Press.
Let me know what you think about that down in the comments.
Pelton Press is my new company.
And I need three things really to get this brand up and running.
I need a logo that still works
when it's even just a tiny little logo on a book spine.
I need a cover style that the whole series can use.
Anytime I put out something from Pelton Press,
I want it to have common branding.
And I want to put together a Pinterest pin to promote my next book.
So I wanna compare two tools.
I wanna compare ChatGPT and LoveArt
and just the rules, just so this is a fair comparison
is I'm gonna have the same brief, word for word.
I'm not gonna fix it for one or the other.
I wanna actually compare these.
And I wanna show you the first results
that I get from this brief I put together with no edits.
Because I'm pretty sure I can get what I'm looking for
after a lot of work of, okay, now change this,
change this, change this.
I wanna see what I can get closest to what I'm looking for
just right off the bat.
I'm going to give it the exact same brief,
see what comes out first, and then if there's
something that I do need to change,
I want to give the same fix to both of them, and
I want to compare apples to apples.
For every round, I want to ask the one question,
would I actually put this on my book?
If I'm sending this out to people, am I embarrassed by it?
Do I think it's high quality?
What do I think?
And I think as more and more people use AI to generate,
you know, these Kindle Direct
publishing books and coloring books
in particular are pretty easy to make.
I think that a real publisher is going to help
my listings get ranked higher than just
a one-off by a random person.
So we're going to go with ChatGPT here first.
So I'm just going to copy
and paste the brief that I put together for what I'm looking for.
And basically, where we're at in AI is you just tell it
in English what you are looking for, okay?
Don't give it too much direction.
Sometimes if you give it more direction, it actually does worse.
So I'm starting a brand for my coloring book side business
on Amazon KDP. The publisher name is Pelton Press.
And this is what I'm looking for, a logo,
a cover style, and a Pinterest pin.
So I'm gonna take the same thing, Lovart 2.0,
which I've used Lovart on a lot of videos for them.
They've become my go-to for graphic design work.
So I'm gonna give them the same prompt.
Okay, the first thing that I noticed
is ChatGPT just did a guess, and this is pretty good.
We'll talk about this in a second.
Lovart actually asked some clarifying questions.
I actually prefer asking clarifying questions
because then it's more likely to get it right.
And the first thing is it has a pending memory suggestion.
I'm suggesting that I want to use hand
illustrated storybook visual personality.
So I at some point in my chats with Lovart,
I mentioned that I wanted to do that and it
remembered that from a whole different chat.
So I'm going to just say whatever you think
is best for all of these, actually.
Again, just to keep the comparison fair.
But right off the bat, I noticed Lovart
knows more about me than ChatGPT does.
One thing I noticed, Lovart gave a nice sound
and a notification when it was done.
So we are done with both things.
So let's look at what we have here.
So I asked for a logo and a cover style that can work for all my books.
And then also a Pinterest post.
So the first thing I noticed is ChatGPT gave everything in one image.
So there is a logo there.
And I do think it's a pretty good logo.
I think that will work, you know, even if it's really small.
I think that'll look good on a book spine.
And then this is the cover style, which I think it looks pretty nice.
And then this must be the Pinterest post here.
But one thing it didn't, it put them all in one file,
which is actually pretty inconvenient.
I'm going to have to like get those,
cut them out in some way to use them how I want to use them.
Lovart, on the other hand, it gave me three different files.
So it gave me a logo, it gave me the cover, and it gave me...
The Pinterest post in three separate files,
which is way more convenient.
Second off, mountains have nothing to do with me.
I live in Nebraska, which is like pretty much
the least mountainous place that there is.
This makes a lot more sense.
It says I didn't give it any direction.
It's like a little bookstore.
I think that makes a lot more sense.
This logo looks a little less generic.
You know, kind of these mountains, I feel like, are in a lot of logos.
And this is a little bit more unique.
The cover style, honestly, it did very, very similar idea.
They both look pretty good,
but it is nice that Lovart put it in a file
I could actually use.
It looks like ChatGPT actually put it on a book,
but that makes it kind of unusable.
I need that as a file.
I don't need an actual cover book.
Then I do think that ChatGPT,
the best thing it did was this Pinterest.
This looks pretty good, I think.
But again, it's not in its own file,
so it's gonna be very hard to work with,
whereas Lovart gave.
Uh gave me this right here.
So when you see in Lovart this reference panel that is arty
So that's their new design agent.
I like giving my agent's name also. So shout out to Lovart and
Artie wanted to save the logo
Um, because if I do other things it's going to use that as a reference
so it's going to use that same logo automatically
I don't have to like
copy and paste the logo into everything that I
do for Pelton Press. It's like it's part of the
brand now and already knows about it.
So round one, I'm going to give to Lovart because the
logo is better. In fact, looking at this logo on this book,
it doesn't even match up. I mean,
you're talking about cozy, small towns.
Then you have this mountain. I don't know. It just doesn't
it doesn't feel quite right to me.
And the fact that it comes in its own files that I can easily
I'm giving round one to Lovart.
Okay, and then I'm going to do a change here.
Again, if you're doing graphical work for a
company, which is again, I imagine how I would want
to use this as like, hey, I could be your
graphic designer, even though I'm not a graphic person.
I don't know much about graphics. I can
do this for you because of AI.
But if somebody comes in and they want a change, I want to see
how ChatGPT handles a change versus how Lovart handles the change.
So I'm going to describe edits here to ChatGPT,
make the logo simpler so it reads at the size of
a book spine, make the pins headline bigger,
keep everything else the same. So I'm going to give
that to ChatGPT. I'm also going to give that to Lovart here
and we'll see how Roundu does. I will
say it's nice in ChatGPT now I get a percentage
so I know about how close it is to being done.
And Lovart actually was done faster,
but I didn't know how long it was going to take.
So you can see Lovart puts everything like in kind of a design board,
which this is how designers
want to see it. ChatGPT does not do that,
but it gave me a little smaller logo here, which I think
it did a pretty good job with that.
You know, another thing that font is not right for cozy
small towns. That font kind of reads to me like big.
So I don't think it did a great job with
the font here. I think Lovart did a much better job.
Like that's a cozier font.
Um, but it did, I think this pin,
it did a good job of making it kind of pop more,
making the headline bigger.
Going over to Lovart, it made the logo smaller and a bit bolder.
So this I think would look better, um,
just being a little bolder on the spine. So it did a great
job of that. And then it made cozy corners bigger on the Pinterest pin,
which is what I actually
asked it to do. Make the pins headline bigger.
Chat GPT made the next book in the cozy small
town series, bigger Lovart made cozy corners, the book title bigger.
So I do like from both ChatGPT
and Lovart that gone are the days where you had to regenerate
an image.
You can actually work on the images that have already generated.
It used to be if you prompted something and it came out,
you had to reprompt it and sometimes
it would come out completely different
when you just really wanted one small thing changed.
Text is way better in AI now.
Text used to be a huge problem,
but both ChatGPT and Lovart did great with the text.
One thing I noticed here too is they have a little arty graphic
which is with that's fun
but it says it gives suggestions on what you're working
on it it says the pinterest pin is not
the requested size and I can just resolve
that and I didn't even really notice that the pinterest pin
it made originally was not the size that I asked
for the thousand by 1500 but then it made a
suggestion to actually get it at the right sides
so I'm gonna go ahead and let arty get to work on
So in one sense, shout out to ChatGPT,
it did make it the right size.
But again, even this revision, it's all in one file
and it's gonna be quite a hassle to get.
I'm gonna have to crop this pin to get it out.
I don't know why it would think I would want it
in that format, when in reality, this is how I'd want it.
I want them in separate files that I can use separately.
Okay, and then actually looking through what Lovart did,
it actually did make it the right size the first time,
But what bothered it was that it made it 1008 by 1504.
So that extra eight pixels by four pixels is what was bothering it.
But then its conclusion at the end was actually, it's fine.
Pinterest will accept it how it is.
So just leave it how it is.
So it even like tapped into Pinterest
a little bit to make sure what we have will work.
All right, next test.
I want to see if I make another book in this series.
Does it keep the right consistency going forward?
So I'm going to say make the cover for book two in the same series.
The theme is Cozy Beach Towns.
And actually, now that I'm looking at it,
ChatGPT did this on the first one.
I just noticed it now, but it put Cozy Beach Towns.
I think because when I was ideating,
I mentioned Cozy Beach Towns and then ChatGPT just took
it upon itself to...
make that for me even though I did not ask for that.
So actually we're going to give ChatGPT a
big L for not making what I asked for.
I made the Pinterest pin for Cozy Beach Towns which is the
next book in this series that I haven't even talked about yet.
But let's go ahead and we'll
have it make the theme Cozy Beach Towns the Pelton Press brand
and get cover for book two. Let's do
both and see how they do with it. Got ChatGPT going.
We'll get Lovart going on the same cover.
All right, so ChatGPT, this is a pretty good cover,
but again, it put it on an actual book,
which makes it kind of unusable.
Like, I can't use that because I'm gonna have to crop it
and it's gonna be weird over here.
I didn't ask for a book.
I may ask for a book cover, so no thank you.
The cover itself, though, is pretty good.
I think that matches pretty well the feel of the first one.
Actually, it looks very similar.
It might be too similar, like we really need them to,
you know stand out differently cozy small towns has
the the lake in the background with the sailing
boats this does the same thing although it's the sea
but honestly these might be too close it might
be too similar where people wouldn't be able
to tell them apart Lovart did a much better job it
got me an actual file not on a book
and this is pretty distinguishable so it has the title nice
cozy shores instead of cozy corners
and this is obviously a different book it's the same style
Has my logo down there.
But honestly, I don't know if I would make any changes to this.
It's pretty cool.
I might use like the first draft that I get back.
My conclusion, I'm going to make Lovart the winner in all this.
Lovart, to me, has been great at just graphic design.
And it's really cool.
You can design an entire brand from scratch,
just like I did here today.
And there's all sorts of things you can do about that.
You could do that to design your own brand, of course.
If you want it, it's fun just designing new brands, honestly.
But you could also do this to help other people out.
There's a lot of people who spend a lot of money
looking for logos, looking for designs,
looking for covers for books,
all sorts of things like that.
In Lovart you can design it all
and then it saves it all as a brand reference.
So anytime you're making anything for that brand
you can come back and use their brand assets
so it all stays consistent.
Love Art 2.0 also has two new features,
so let me show you those real quick.
This is design research, so I click start research,
and Artie goes and researches my
project on its own, and it came back
with a whole report on getting my covers ready
for Amazon KDP, like adding a back cover and a spine and bleed,
and this is delegated tasks,
so I can hand Artie a job, like making
a new Pinterest pin for my coloring book every week.
I hit test run, and then here's this week's pin,
same logo and same style.
So Lovart just launched 2.0 with Artie, your first design agent.
Link is in the description.
Please go try it out. I use Lovart almost every day
and it makes me really happy that they're
coming out with new updates
and they don't just like make the product and say, well, now it's good,
but they're constantly coming out with new features
to make it better and better for me.
So go give it a try. I'd love to see
in the comments some things that you come up with.
So design something, design a fake brand
and let's see it. I'd love to check it out.
So thanks everybody for watching, God bless you all,
and have a great rest of your day.
