I tested the Krisp meeting assistant on the noise my house makes all day. I played a dog bark and kids playing from my phone while I talked, then tried it on my own voice and on a live Google Meet call with a fake client update. When I wasn't talking, it took the noise out almost completely. When I was, a little came through, and my voice sounded the same. Then I put the phone right next to the mic to see how far I could push it.

The speaker reviews Crisp, an AI-powered noise-canceling software designed for people working from home. Through a series of tests involving dog barks and children's voices, the speaker demonstrates how the tool effectively removes background noise in real-time during recordings and live calls without distorting the user's voice.
She's actually, uh, this is alarming her a little bit hearing this, uh,
Keely, it's not a real dog. She's actually, uh,
this is alarming her a little bit hearing this, uh, Keely,
it's not a real dog. So that was the same moment twice.
First on my camera's mic, then through Crisp, uh, on a call,
The Crisp one is the one that people hear. It's a lot better.
It's a huge improvement on this video is brought to you by Crisp.
Uh, if you work from home, you probably had a lot of this stuff happen.
I do so much of my life on mic, uh,
whether it be meetings or recording videos or whatever.
And I have, you know, two dogs, lots of kids running around.
We homeschool, but this has probably happened to you.
You're on a call.
It's maybe an important call with a client or your team.
It's your turn to talk.
And then the dog starts barking or the kids start yelling,
uh, whatever the case might
be.
Um, they bark all the time, but I just
couldn't get them to do it on command.
Uh, isn't that the way that it is?
But Crisp says that it takes background noise out of your mic
while you talk on calls or on
recordings. I'd never used it before this video,
so I wanted to test it. This could be very helpful
for me. These are always my favorite tools
to review are the ones where it's like, hey, this
could actually solve a big problem in my life
and not even one that I really realized could be
solved. So if you work from home, your house is your office.
Your house is loud. If you have a
family or pets. And on a call, you can't edit out later.
You know, on YouTube videos, I can just go
in and take out the bark or whatever.
Even as I'm recording right now, there are kids yelling
upstairs in play. They're not upset.
But on a call, it's live. You can't edit anything. The person
hears it right as it goes into the mic.
And this happened just the other day. I had to redo a whole
section of a video because there was a lot of noise.
The kids were loud. And I've tried closing
doors but then the dogs like whine at the door they start barking
because the door is closed
um i actually got this on air sign
so that people out um outside my office know hey stay quiet he's
recording but you know after a few years of having
the sign people kind of start to ignore it you
know and some have said why don't you just train
your kids to be more quiet or train your pets to
be more quiet but it's like it's
their home okay i want them kids loud playing upstairs i want to
encourage that not shut it down.
So here's what I want to know is can I use as I usually do look
to AI look to software to help solve this problem.
Is there software that can take noise out while
I'm talking without making me sound like a robot.
I've tried other things like this where yeah I can
take out some ambient noise but then you end up sounding like a robot.
So I'm going to test it on
a dog bark kids yelling my own voice in a quiet room
then I'm going to keep pushing it until it
breaks. I want to see how far we can take it.
Then I'm going to put it on a call. So here's
the whole setup. You install Crisp.
It adds a new microphone to your computer called Crisp
microphone. Then in whatever app you use,
whether it's Zoom Meet or, you know, Camtasia, what I'm
recording for my video here,
you can pick Crisp microphone instead of your normal microphone.
So that's it. That's how you set it up.
I think it's a very clever way. It just gives you a new
microphone that has noise canceling built into it.
So you can see in my input devices here,
my Shure mic. That's this mic that I'm using. Um,
that I have like my iPhone mic, my iMac mic,
but I have this crisp microphone.
So that's what we're going to use for testing some of this out. Okay.
So test one is going to be a dog barking and a Keeley bark speak.
She doesn't listen. She only does it when I don't want her to. Um,
so I'm just going to play it from my phone. Um,
I'm just going to talk the way I normally
would talk during a video with the dog
barking in the background and we'll see how it goes. All right.
So, we're just going to pretend this is Keeley.
She's actually, this is alarming her a little bit hearing this.
Keeley, it's not a real dog.
Don't worry.
But this is the background.
And this is often the background of my day.
So, after the dog stops, that's usually when I would, you know,
stop the recording, start my sentence over, and get back to work.
So, let's hear it back.
All right.
So, we're just going to pretend this is Keeley.
She's actually, this is alarming her a little bit hearing this.
Keely, it's not a real dog.
Don't worry.
But this is the background and this is often the background of my day
All right
So I think that sounded quite a bit better
when I wasn't speaking it took away the ambient noise almost completely
When I was speaking it came through just a little bit
which is to be expected
But it's a lot better for sure
my voice sounded the same I couldn't even tell
That you know my voice sounded identical to how it usually does
So if you want to try this on your own setup the links
in the description and the pinned comment for you to try it
out for yourself, but let's do a test too. We'll have the kids and
i thought about trying to get my kids down here just
to make a lot of noise but there's too many
of them so we're not going to do that um this one's harder
because it's not a bark it's actual
voices so that's a little bit harder for software
to weed out you know a bark is very distinguishable
from human voice but kids aren't so let's go ahead
and play the kids so it's supposed to be kids
playing in the background i think it
that is what they sound like it sounds like a water park or
something like that so we'll see how that does
so it's supposed to be kids playing in the background
And I think that is what they sound like.
It sounds like a water park or something like that.
So we'll see how that does.
Okay, and same with the kids.
When I wasn't speaking, it took most of it out.
When I was speaking, just I could hear
a little bit coming through, but it's a lot better.
It's a huge improvement.
So then I do want to test two.
This part matters when I'm on calls all day instead of making videos.
What does it do when nothing is wrong?
Every Tuesday, I stop by the post office
to pick up a stack of packages.
Every Tuesday, I stop by the post office
to pick up a stack of packages.
Okay, so now I want to find out where it stops working.
So I'm going to put my phone right next to the mic and play a bark,
then the kids, then somebody else talking,
and I'm going to just keep talking through it all.
All right, so here it goes.
We'll see how it does.
I mean, this is pretty bad.
I've got pretty loud sound playing,
and it's right by the microphone while I'm talking.
We're going to see how it does with that.
That was the dogs barking.
Then here's the kids, super loud.
put like right next to my mouth again i wanted
to kind of just see the threshold of where this
breaks so just gonna wow i'm working
at a really loud water park today it's awful okay yeah i'm
here okay this is robotic voice talking next
to me this is kind of distracting okay this is
robotic voice talking next to me this is kind
of distracting um this is difficult this could
be a nice like a focus exercise get this robotic voice uh talking
while i'm trying to talk now the
part a lot of people i think will use
this for is probably phone calls again if you're remote or
you're hybrid or you consult from from clients
from home uh this is where noise costs you and
it might be an important call right
so i'm starting a new google meet and i'm using the
crisp microphone so i'm in meet with crisp
as my mic i'm gonna just play that same noise while i
give a fake customer an update all right
so hopefully you like the app i built for you
my dog's barking so sorry my dog's barking
so sorry um i'm working on your email address next
and then uh by next friday i'll be able to have
the new version for you hope that works for you
appreciate your patience sorry about all
the background noise oh you can't hear it that's
amazing. That's great. Thank you so much for being a customer.
So also very cool. Crisp acts as a
note taker in your meetings and it doesn't join your meeting.
It actually just listens in the
background. I always hate nowadays when you join a meeting,
there's like five people's note takers
that hop on. It's tacky. So I like Crisp just listens
in the background. So if you're interested
in trying this out, here is what it costs.
So there is a free trial and I love when there's
free trials because I don't want to pay
for something until I've checked it out and see
if it's going to actually work for me.
I hate when products are like, Hey, pay and you can try it
out. Even if there's like a refund process,
it's like, I don't want to go through this refund
process. So free for seven days, you can try it out.
And I encourage you to try it out, try it in
all the different situations that might come up,
see if it's going to work for you. After that,
their core plan is $16 per month.
And you actually, it's half price if you pay for a year.
So that's a big discount. So, you know,
if you use it seven days and you're like, Hey, I'm probably
going to be using this going forward might make more sense just
to do an annual plan save that 50
i'm going to give it a try for at least the seven days here
but i think that this will really help
me especially with my recording i think this will save me
a lot of time in recording so if you're a
youtuber or something like that this could even
be more beneficial for you but i'll let you know
after seven days what i'll come back
and i'll comment on this video or maybe do a second video
tools that really have helped me i like
to do follow-up videos just to remind you hey this
has been really great for me
so let me know in the comments what you guys find what you've seen
and if you if you try it out different situations
and how it worked would love to see that but thank
you guys so much for watching thank you crisp
for building another great tool uh that we can use
that helps problems in our life appreciate you guys all
for watching god bless you all
and have a great rest of your day
