Hi, good morning, guys. Yeah, it's standing room only right now.
We showed you that line outside of Daily Drive in here in Livonia.
Now take a peek inside standing room only.
I've been told right now just in the matter
of minutes since they opened the doors. It's now a two hour wait.
Is that what you guys are hearing? Two hour wait to be seated.
There's butts in seats everywhere. And I was told, look,
we don't even care how long it takes to get seated. And
get our last meal. We're going to wait. It's worth it.
I was just talking to this gentleman here. I
didn't get your name, by the way. Philip.
Philip, nice to meet you. You've been coming here for a
long time or what? I've been coming
to Daly's since President Nixon was in office. Wow. So you
were telling me it's just kind of like nostalgic.
You're kind of reminiscing a little bit. Back in
the day, you could order a gigantic bowl of ice cream.
I think it was a gallon or a gallon and a
half or some absurd amount.
And if you ate it, they gave you this big spoon. And if you ate it,
You've got to keep the spoon.
You also got your name on the wall, which had a bigger spoon.
There's a picture of it here somewhere
where there's a kid holding a spoon.
Stuff in his face.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
How do you feel being here on what will be the last day?
It's bittersweet.
I'm glad I'm here.
I'm glad I got in here before the crowd.
There's nothing like a Daily Burger.
You get a taste for a Daily Burger, you've got to have one.
Kind of a bummer that it's going to be gone soon.
Who are you here with, man?
I don't know.
I just like, I don't know.
Oh, so we're just literally joining tables.
Come sit down.
They're standing there saying, come on, join me.
I'm not going to be here long.
Oh, God.
You're having fun listening?
Oh, yeah.
How are you guys doing?
I was little.
I walked like this, like a little girl into here.
But I came with my older brothers.
Wow, wow.
How are you guys feeling being here on the last day?
I'd like to see it stay.
Yeah, I'd like to see it stay.
But you, I mean, I'm hearing it's retirement
that's kind of closing the doors.
Yeah, I can understand that.
I've been retired 24 years myself.
So when it's time to go, it's time to go.
That's all.
All right. You heard it. You know,
just kind of like, let's take a little peek around.
Like I said, hey, Eric. Eric is one of the managers, by the way.
She says it's been an emotional day.
They've been, like I said, busy since they opened at 11.
They close at 7 p.m. So, again, you see,
I mean, every table, every seat is filled.
Again, about a two hour wait. We're being told the two hour wait
that we're told for to go orders and for a sit in.
But even still, as I peek outside this window, the line
is still kind of crowding and surrounding, lining that building.
So it's going to be a busy day.
But again, 67 years in this community, more than one location.
This is the last one standing, and today is the last day.
So again, they're open until 7.
If you want to get out here, get that Daily Burger,
the Daily Hot Dog, and the sauce.
Today's your last chance.
Back to you guys.
Oh, that's sweet.
That's really nice to hear people reminisce a little bit.
And it's good for them to know they're placed in people's lives, right?
When you're a restaurateur, as they say goodbye.
Yeah, Deena, you know what?
Absolutely.
There's been so many stories.
There's, you know, folks have told me they, hey,
they started working here when they were 13.
So this is, you know, it's been passed down for generations.
You know, folks just waiting to get that last meal.
Good food, good grub, good for the belly
and good times as everyone don't even, a lot of these folks,
strangers sitting together enjoying this last daily meal.
Good stuff. Very nice, Tanisha.
I hope you can get one of those burgers before you leave.
