It was Halloween horror movie night on Dancing with the Stars,
and the scariest part wasn't Val's return to the ballroom,
dressed as a flesh-eating zombie,
or having Mark Ballas' mom, Shirley, join the panel as a guest judge.
Nope, it was the cutthroat double elimination.
Spoiler alert, if you haven't watched, you've been warned.
The final
couple who
is safe is...
That's right, two men exited the competition in a double elimination.
Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olsen,
who did a contemporary routine inspired by Joker,
and Bachelor Nation star Tyler Cameron,
who performed a Viennese waltz inspired by a Dracula
film. One of the more savage parts of the night
was after guest judge Shirley Ballas complimented
Tyler on his acting skills in the dance,
her only positive note of the routine.
Carrie-Anne chimed in after, delivering this burn.
I disagree with Shirley Ballas.
I did not think that the acting was that great in that dance,
and that was the weakest part for me.
But with all due respect, Your Highness.
Glee star Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson's
Saw-inspired contemporary earned them
the first perfect score of the season.
Johnson, who faced criticism the other week
for a controversial lift,
got emotional from the judges' love.
Val and Jenna Dewan's dance was almost perfect,
but Dewan getting her heel stuck in her dress
likely prevented her from a perfect score on the dance.
Talk about horror.
Connor Wood also earned two 10s
for his Annabelle-inspired contemporary dance.
Ezra French and his partner Daniela earned three 9s
and an 8 for their jazz routine inspired by the movie Invisible Man.
Amber Glenn performed a black swan-inspired Argentine tango
with her partner Pasha that earned them four 9s
and put them second on the leaderboard,
which combined scores from last week's non-elimination show.
But guest judge Shirley Ballas did
almost get booed out of the ballroom.
After starting off the night giving Julia Stiles
her lowest score of the entire competition, a 4.
Stiles also got a less than flattering pre-tape that featured tension
in rehearsals between her and partner Ezra Sosa.
But Stiles wasn't alone in getting a 4.
Fresh Prince star Tatiana Ali also got a 4 on her routine
from the Strictly Come Dancing judge on their Sinner's Dance.
Shirley's son Mark Ballas and his partner Love Island star Maura
Higgins went last and they didn't earn top scores from his mom.
but they did walk away with a 7 from her.
Shirley Ballas was asked after the show about her brutal scoring,
and she said over in the UK she considers a 4 a good score.
She even said the stars were lucky she didn't pull out a 2 or a 3.
Yikes.
Now only 8 couples remain in the competition.
Next week Dancing with the Stars will be on Monday night, not Tuesday,
because it's election day.
