Video Summary
AI GeneratedA court hearing regarding a defendant, Ms. Blair, who is accused of assaulting a police officer and a nurse. While the prosecution seeks a $20,000 cash bail based on the violence of the attacks, the defense argues the incidents were the result of a medical emergency involving neurological conditions and medication lapses rather than criminal intent.
Police, the defendant kicked the officer in the face,
the neck, and the chest while the officer was on active duty.
That officer sustained swelling to the face,
substantial pain to the arm.
The defendant was subsequently
then transferred to the hospital for treatment,
where the defendant allegedly then kicked the nurse in the chest.
The officer in this case was taken
to a local area hospital for treatment to those injuries.
For those reasons, Judge, we are asking for monetary bail
in the amount of $20,000 cash, $60,000 partially secured bond at 10%.
Should the defendant be convicted of the top count,
she is facing two to seven years' determinate.
We do believe that monetary bail is the kind and degree of control
reasonably necessary to assure this defendant's return to court.
Okay, thank you.
Counsel, are you serving for us grand jury notice?

of that date of the grand jury date um i understand

of um that they will cross paths um ever again um
we're prepared to also argue about the circumstances

Your Honor, Ms. Blair is a 54-year-old single mother
with significant health issues. The dog

with the criminal justice system. She's never been
arrested, she's never been convicted of any crimes, felony
or misdemeanor and she has no not so much
as a parking ticket. Your Honor, the circumstances alleged
in the complaint are the product of a
medical emergency
not intentional criminal conduct. Again, Ms. Blair is 54 years old
she's been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis
and Parkinsonism conditions greatly impact
neurological system. Prior to the flight
and prior to the flight and issue, Ms. Blair missed several
uh doses of Nuedexta, a powerful medication
that controls severe neurological symptoms and
Ms. Blair boarded this flight after being onset
and working extensive hours and exhaustive hours
in the days leading up to this flight.
Additionally your honor at one point during the flight
there was an incident where Ms. Blair actually fell and hit her head.
These factors your honor
coupled with the altitude resulted in a state of severe confusion
and disorientation and the
medical causes of this are corroborated
by the fact that law enforcement had to transport
Ms. Blair to the hospital last last night where she
was discharged after approximately seven or
eight hours and just hours later she had
to be transported back to the hospital for administration
of additional medication. Ms. Blair did not get
on that plane intending for any of this your honor
again this was a medical emergency, she's
not a flight risk, she has sole U.S. citizenship
her family is all in the United States, she has
a minor son sisters cousins aunts and
uncles, they're all
in the United States, her career
is here in the United States
