The Vikings Just Got DISRESPECTED...
Oct 28, 2026
The Vikings just got disrespected in a huge way
by Colin Cowherd's recent power rankings
that are absolutely laughable
when looking at the teams ranked above them, which brings
up an interesting and staggering hypocrisy
from the NFL media narratives all season.
We're going to break down all that in this episode
of Vikings Digest, but first, we are
so close in trying to hit our goal
of 5,600 subscribers before we kick off against the
Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon,
so if you're part of the 89% of viewers who are not yet
subscribed, you want to help us reach that goal
as well as getting one step closer to
eclipsing Bengals Digest in subscribers make sure
to hit that subscribe button and the bell
icon so you don't miss any of the episodes
when they drop with that let's hop right into it folks
which is that Colin Cowherd strikes again
and yes i'm talking about Colin Cowherd who is on the
the Herd with Fox Sports and as well as has his own podcast
but we've known for a very long time
that he is a generational hater
of the Minnesota Vikings there has been maybe a couple times that
You can count where he has actually been in support for the Vikings.
Sam Darnold, he liked a little bit,
but he still had a lot of criticisms to go along with it.
But they felt like a lot of backhanded compliments.
And with Kevin O'Connell as well,
he starts to kind of waver a little bit here and there.
And then with J.J. McCarthy, he absolutely tore him apart.
But now that he's in with the New York Giants and he's singing
a whole different tune now that J.J. McCarthy is playing very well.
To me personally, I have never really taken him seriously.
and I've always just kind of ridiculed him for all
the stuff that he's been saying if you guys
been following for the channel long enough you would know
that a couple years ago we also posted
another video similar to this we've done a couple over
the years as well just absolutely ridiculing
his takes and his power rankings and what he has to say
when it comes to the Minnesota Vikings
and this week he was at it again folks
as he released his Herd Hierarchy of top 10 teams
going into week eight and when you look
at the top 10 it is absolutely ridiculous because what
the hell even was this where you look
at the teams you got the Bengals at 10 the Rams at 9
you got the Broncos at 8 lions at 7 bills at 6 chiefs
at 5 Pats at 4 Bears at 3 Niners at 2 and
the Seahawks at 1 what the hell
are you smoking Colin Cowherd like honestly really the Vikings
are an undefeated team and they are outside
of the top 10 you have the bear uh the bears who won
their game on Thursday night cool
the Pats they lost yet they're in the top five the chiefs they
lost yet they're in the top five
then you look at all the other teams in there the rams are below
500 and newsflash for you there bud is when you look at the NFC North
who is the number one team
up there Minnesota they are six
and zero newsflash we're undefeated hello so that means that we are
first place in the NFC North division well guess what
that means that we are also first place in
the NFC and where do you see the LA Rams they
are not even in the playoffs if the season were to end
today i know a lot of people will say well they're going
to be getting players back and yada yada
yada but Minnesota is still at a commanding six
and zero right now with the Niners and the Bears
hot on their tail but still Minnesota is undefeated
so guess what because they're undefeated they're
not only number one in the NFC they are number one in the entire NFL
so yes it is an absolute
crime against humanity for him to not even have
the Vikings inside the top 10 you can make a case
for a ton of other teams to be in that top 10
the Browns could even replace where the Broncos are
sitting right now or the Bengals
or the rams for that matter i don't even know why they're in there
but you look at where Minnesota could stand even
if they're not put at number one i can see why
you would put San Francisco at number one even
though they lost and Brock Purdy was picked off
a bunch of times and even with Seattle they had
a really dominant win they're looking like they're
kind of getting back to the way that they were last year
so even then you can't discount that
Minnesota is at least a top five team especially
when you're putting two teams at five and four
that also lost on Sunday and Thursday as well
because the pass played on Thursday and Minnesota
is still undefeated and this is all a very big thing going
on in the NFL right now where a lot
of analysts and kind of pundits
and all these things are talking about all these teams. When
you look at Colin Cowherd's rankings,
what do you notice in common there? Seattle, high-powered
offense. San Francisco, high-powered offense
that has a lot of injuries. The Bears, high-powered
offense. The Pats, their offense is really getting going right now.
The Chiefs, Kenneth Walker is
looking like an MVP right now.
The Bills, we're going to get to them in a second because they
have the number one offense in the league right now
and I'm pissed off about the narrative around
this then you got Detroit Lions they got
a great offense their defense is absolutely freaking
terrible look at the Broncos their defense
is carrying Bo Nix's sorry ass through this season
as he can't even complete a pass over five
or ten yards you look at the Rams right now they're
riddled with injuries they're going to get guys back sooner
or later but still they're a below
500 team yet they're ranked at number nine
then you got the Bengals they got a really solid defense
they've looked a lot better this year compared
to last year Joe Burrow is awesome Tee Higgins
Ja'Marr Chase they're absolutely balling out can't deny
that but still even for the Bengals to be in
there and then you look at Minnesota
not even being there it is just absolutely asinine to me
especially now that we're on the topic of Buffalo finally
this is where I really have a big gripe
because what I was saying what I was trying
to say before is how there's this entire narrative
where what you notice in that top 10 high powered
offenses Minnesota has the number one defense in
league and looking like a historic number one defense
at that but because their offense is not
anything flashy and they're just kind of game managing
and controlling the time of possession
running the ball ripping off these plays
when they have to and still kind of moving the ball
at a certain pace but it's getting going more
and more each week i know last week this past game was
a little bit of a setback against the Colts
but still we are seeing it start to take a little bit
more of a shape that is a little bit more familiar
of what we know this Vikings offense can be
when operating at full capacity
but because of that nobody wants to put Minnesota in the top
10 conversations even or even the top five conversations
of the top three conversations
even though we are now the last undefeated remaining team
and this brings me to my problem
that i have with Buffalo and yes i love Josh Allen he's
an absolute beauty this is no knock on him or
anything like that but this is all
to do with the media narrative around the Minnesota Vikings and
versus the Buffalo Bills where
when you look at the Vikings they rank 30th in EPA per play in
offense but number one in first number one
in EPA per play allowed in defense and the Bills
basically the entire opposite where offense
their first defense they are 31st but yet the entire
narrative around the Buffalo Bills is how they
are Super Bowl contenders this could be the year
the Buffalo Bills finally get over the hump
when really they haven't solved anything with their
defensive problems over the last couple of years
that have been a massive liability for them and
the reason why they are losing these playoff games that they get
so close to getting over that said
hump but yet they're all praised
and put in this contender conversation meanwhile Minnesota
is treating like the treated like the stepchild
that is just locked away in the corner in the
closet that just is shunned away by the league
and forgotten about meanwhile they are putting up
crazy numbers on defense things that we haven't seen
in the past 20 years since the 2002 Ravens
and yet people don't want to put them
in the contender conversations when the entire thing
around Super Bowl championship teams is defense wins championships
but yet no one wants to talk
about that when the offense on the other side
is a little bit lackluster which leads to this crazy
narrative which I thought this meme
was hilarious where you can see the dichotomy right here and
this perfectly explains the media narrative around
the difference between the Minnesota Vikings and
the rest of the league even though you look
at a team like the Bills the Lions where they have
great offenses but they have piss poor defenses
and yet they're the ones being put in these
conversations and I'm not trying to sound like
a bitter NFC North rival in this scenario I actually
admire the Detroit Lions for the things that they've
been able to do because I live right across
the border from Detroit and I go over there a lot
and I enjoy being in the city of Detroit
they've had a lot of misery
and they deserve to have some sort of happiness but at the end of the
day when you look at what their defense is looking like
and how their offense is basically asked to
put up 35 points a game yeah it's a bit exciting it's
a bit more exciting to watch because they're
scoring more but when you watch what Minnesota's defense
is doing to absolutely dismantle and
demoralize teams into oblivion it is a master class to watch
but because the the mass population
of NFL fans just want to see high scoring offense
and points scored and put on the board and see
their fantasy scores go off
and things like that it just puts a lot of viewers not wanting to even
look at the Vikings or pay them any attention
because they're just slugging out these gutsy
and gritty wins where the defense is playing lights out
so if you're an actual football know
a ball knower and as well as have an appreciation
for the game you will be able to watch the Vikings
and what this defense is doing to teams
and be absolutely riveted and excited every single snap
as far as the offense is concerned yes it's left a lot to be desired
but at the end of the day
they are still getting going more and more and more
and I know a lot of people are sick and tired
of hearing about that but even Kirk Cousins where he
was able to ball out with Minnesota and his
Kevin O'Connell offense it took him a while to get going with it
and with Kyler Murray we saw
with that big 35 yard scramble that he had
those things like that are going in tandem with what he
did against the New Orleans Saints where you're seeing him use
his legs a little bit more he is
trusting in what he has to do there
and I think with a lot of things that we saw on tape I think
Kevin O'Connell is also going to see
those things too where maybe you hit the wide open receiver a
little bit sooner because it's developing rather than resorting
to your legs but even Kyler doesn't
want to have to resort to his legs overly
or have to rely on him so i do think that's going to be
something that is cleaned up going into next week against
the Lions because Aiden Hutchinson is
going to set those edges but hopefully what it does
is open up the trenches where if guys are
locked down in the secondary Brian Branch
is coming back that Kyler can just go off and rip
off these 15 20 yard scrambles that absolutely help us move
the ball down the field and have
people stop talking smack about our offense
and have us start getting going and now being in the
actual contender conversation
but let us know down in the comments below I know I went on a really
long rant about it it just Colin Cowherd just
absolutely pisses me off I think of all the
people in sports media that need to have
their microphone taken away he is absolutely one of
those guys he has barely had anything nice to say about
the Vikings there's been a couple of things
here and there but I can count on maybe one hand
in the past five ten years how many nice things
he's had to say about the Vikings
or how many times versus how many times just absolutely
disrespected them left them off his power rankings
or just has nothing nice to say when they go to a
segment about them or just flat out
not even talking about them on his show for an entire
week when he does a weekly recap
but let us know down in the comments below what you guys think
about all this and do you think that there
is a very big hypocrisy going on with the NFL media
narrative surrounding high powered offenses
that have piss poor defenses versus really great
defenses with not the greatest of offenses
and how the coverage is a lot different on both sides
let us know down in the comments below is that's going
to do it for this episode of Vikings Digest
again thank you guys so much for liking
subscribing hitting that bell icon so you
