This Denver Nuggets trend has fans very concerned
because the Nuggets are 1-2 right now.
They just lost to a Golden State Warriors team
that started their season 0-3,
and the Nuggets got blown out by them.
And more importantly, now the Nuggets' best player
in franchise history is arguing with fans.
And with the Nuggets, a team
that was expected to win 50 games this year
is by the ESPN analytics projections.
Now, there's a lot of discussion on how far
the Nuggets would even get in the playoffs,
where they even would end up seeding-wise,
and also what the future actually does hold for Denver
because if things continue on this trajectory,
there's going to be sweeping changes.
And yes, it will involve Nikola Jokic
very much contemplating what his future holds in Denver.
Let's take a look at what Nikola Jokic said
after a recent game saying,
I'm not used to fans booing their own team.
And when he was asked if those real fans,
if those are the real fans,
he said, probably they are,
but I think they're not the real fans,
which is kind of, you know, oxymoronic, but still,
the point does stand where Jokic is not happy with
the fans booing the Nuggets,
and we look at this trend and it certainly is concerning, and today
I'm going to take you through every stat that's gone the wrong way.
The defense, the rebounding,
Jokic's efficiency, which has fallen down,
and on top of that, most importantly, the fact that now
fans are completely turning on this team,
and a Nuggets team that was once very lovable does not
seem to have that same spark
and it comes from multiple angles going into this season the Denver
Nuggets had a three percent chance on Kalshi to win the NBA championship
and honestly guys i would
have expected that to be higher back then
but now that number does feel accurate and guys if you
think that number should be higher or lower
and if you think the nuggets can turn around there's a
great chance to take that trade
and i want to thank Kalshi for sponsoring today's video on Kalshi
you're trading directly against other users
not the house like traditional sports books you're
buying yes or no contracts on the outcomes
of events across sports politics and even the weather
for example the nuggets going out
and winning the 2027 NBA championship which right now if you were
to trade 25 on it you would get an excellent payout
in that trade considering where the Nuggets stand
right now and if you are interested
in trying out Kalshi make sure to click the link in the
description down below.
Guys, it's also in our pinned comment and sign up for Kalshi using code
DigestNBA and you can get $55 when you trade your first 25.
It's a great deal for you. It helps us
channel out as well. And now let's take a look
at some of the big problems for this Denver Nuggets
team. Now, the most worrisome trend is the one
that we knew was going to be bad, and that is
the defense. Through three games,
the Nuggets are allowing 121.7 points a game. That's 23rd
out of 30 teams in the league.
They've given up 96 to Oklahoma City, actually starting off pretty
excellently, but then 135 to New Orleans and 134 to Golden State.
The Nuggets defense fell off a
cliff after stopping arguably the best team in the NBA.
Opponents are shooting 47.3% from the
field against them, 132 for 279, and 35.2% from three, 44 of 125.
And the Pelicans, they got
whatever they wanted to now the Nuggets did win this game in fairness
but they shot 50 of 99 from
the field and scored 70 points in the paint
and added 23 fast break points in a game Denver won
it's still nerve-wracking
because it shows how good Denver's gonna have to be offensively and
most teams aren't as bad defensively
as the New Orleans Pelicans are which is a big part of this
and against the Warriors we saw the worst
of it Golden State made 22 of 44 threes like this was
the old Super Warriors teams that we remember,
not this iteration of the Golden State Warriors.
So they shot 50%.
They took 15 more threes than Denver,
who should be shooting a ton of threes,
and they outscored the Nuggets by 36 points from deep.
It was not a good look.
And at the same point of this,
Steph Curry had 24 points on eight shots.
He literally did not miss against the Nuggets.
That's how little the Nuggets can stop
opposing superstars at this point.
And David Adelman did say, Steph will make shots,
but the other stuff is unacceptable.
And he told reporters that his words were a night that sucked
and we got our ass kicked.
And that is absolutely correct.
And this was not a surprise.
Sports Illustrated pointed out
that Denver ranked 21st in defense last year.
ESPN said the Nuggets led the league in offensive efficiency,
but we're woeful on the other
end.
It's showing up again.
And losing Peyton Watson obviously did not help that.
Signing almost every player that they signed
is an offensively focused player with the
exception of Alpha Diallo.
That's not going to help the defense really at all, and now we're
seeing it in action. A Nuggets defense that is unable
to really perform, and it just shows how
good their offense is going to have to be,
but their offense, it hasn't been good enough. Now,
this all started on opening night, and in Oklahoma City,
the Nuggets shot 31 of 82. 37.8% just scored
84 points. They turned the ball over 22 times,
and the Thunder scored 21 points of those points
off turnovers now OKC did have 12 turnovers
of their own it was a sloppy game all around
the second trend though is how Denver's starting
their games in all three games the Nuggets have
fallen behind down 17 to OKC down 23 to New Orleans
and down 24 against Golden State they
came back against the Pelicans a team that's a perennial lottery team
but the two teams that have
been pretty successful over the last couple
of years well the Nuggets did not come back against
them at all they only got out of the hole once
and Jamal Murray scored 42 points to do it you
can't count on comebacks like that every single night
or for Jamal to have 20 or to have 42 points
every single night it's just not going to happen
and then there's the Warriors where Golden State
beat them on the glass 45 to 32 here's
an unfortunate fact about that the Warriors started
an undrafted rookie at center
and they bodied the Nuggets on the glass I don't know how that's
possible between Jokic and Aaron Gordon
and honestly the whole team but it is and we saw it
happen from the Warriors, a small team who does not have center depth.
They had 13 offensive
rebounds and scored 23 second chance points.
For a team with the best passer in basketball,
that's an effort stat. And the effort is part of what fans notice.
And Adelman said it plainly,
you have to win the first battle.
We lost it throughout the night. And the Gazette
really did report that he said players
were not making physical contact with their men.
The Nuggets are playing lazily.
They're playing like they're hungover, even though they lost in
the first round, so there's no excuse for that.
And it's not just the Warriors. Overall, the
Nuggets have been out-rebounded 141-136 in three games.
For a team with Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and
Trayvon Brazil, that is not what you expect at all.
And I know Brazil's young, but still, the man's
been great at rebounding. And speaking of Nikola Jokic,
he has not been efficient to start this
year at all. His stat line is fine when you look at it bare bones.
22 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 8.7
assists per game. That's what most players would sign up for,
but also it's not exactly Jokic
numbers though. Not far off at all,
but we look at how he's getting there. He's shooting 25 of 60
from the field. That's 41.7% for a guy
who recently was shooting over 60% in full seasons.
He's shooting 5 of 23 from 3, which is 21.7%.
On opening night against OKC, he went 5 for 19 and
scored 13 points. He got locked down by Chet Holmgren.
He just was unable to move, and the
team has been worse with him on the floor for the first time ever.
His plus minus was minus 20
against OKC, plus 11 against New Orleans,
and minus 16 against Golden State. Against the Warriors,
he needed 18 shots to score 19 points.
This is not the Jokic that we're used to, and David
Adelman isn't worried. He said the shots are open
and the problem is on defense, and honestly,
I do mostly agree. I do trust that Jokic is far from the issue.
Jokic is Jokic. He's going to get
it back together. It's been three games,
but a lot of fans are looking at the three-point shot
and wondering because Jokic struggled
from three last year after he got injured and one more thing
about that Warriors game
is that Adelman said Golden State guarded Jokic and Murray so closely
saying our guys have to shoot the ball
when they're open and that does lead me to the next
trend here that's concerning. Now one thing we have
to remember is the Nuggets had the number
one offense in the league last season.
Right now they're scoring 113 points a game which is 17th
in the league. That's with Jokic and Murray both healthy
and the Nuggets have never been a bad
defense or bad offense when those two
are both healthy trend four is the shooting around Jokic
though it's the biggest issue right now as a team
the Nuggets are shooting 31.1 percent from three
33 of 106 and that's with most
of their shots being open according to their own coach Christian
Brown is two for 13 from three
and has not found his rhythm that he once had a few years ago Aaron
Gordon's 10 for 28 from the field 35 percent
and four for 19 in the last two games and in the
Warriors game Gordon was ejected early
in the fourth quarter as he picked up two quick technical
fouls now here's also something that I do want to talk about
and that's a comment from enigma
0.7 0.7 0.7 0.7 saying I would take Julian
Strawther over Christian Brown Brown is absolutely
useless to this championship contender that's a harsh take
but I see the frustration and
Strawther a good shooter is out until December
because of a knee injury which is obviously not
helping anything here now we also look at Jamal Murray
and I do want to be fair to him on opening
night he was two for 11 with six turnovers
but since then he's 20 for 38 52.6 so Murray was a
panic in one game but also it's Jamal Murray we know
that he does have his off nights but at the
same time he is an all-star point guard for a reason
the one that bothers me a lot is the thing
that the Nuggets did not address in the offseason
the backup point guard position Tyus Jones in 29
minutes over three games he's one for four
from the field with four points and in the nine minutes
he played against Golden State the Nuggets
were outscored by 16 points Jones is unplayable at
this one. I don't know what happened.
He was widely regarded as the best backup point guard
in basketball like three years ago, but times have changed.
And here's another comment, this one
from Karopi6687, who said,
just stagger Murray and Jokic for ball handling. Tyus Jones is ass.
And that's the polite way of what fans are really thinking about this.
And I do think it's time that
they put in Ryan Nembhard right here.
And also that they really go and go for Kevin Porter Jr.,
who we do know the Nuggets are interested in.
Now, also a big problem, because believe me,
I'm not forgetting about it. Fans are not happy
with David Adelman. I'm not going to sit here and
act like I'm happy with David Adelman.
Adelman has struggled mightily as a head coach the entire
time, and the rotation is just not good at all.
Cameron Johnson and Alpha Diallo have both missed
two straight games now. Spencer Jones
and Julian Strother haven't played all season because of
Strother's injury, and that's pushed rookie Bryce Hopkins
into the starting lineup for two games in
a row. Hopkins has actually played quite well.
He had 13 points against Golden State, but was also
minus 21 in his 31 minutes
and that tells you how things are without their you know wings who have
been in the NBA for longer than three games
and here's a comment from Hunter Mallon about another
young player saying I think Trayvon Brazil should
be in the rotation he has the skill to help this
team this season but he needs the reps
with the rotation players to limit his mistakes he had 17
points in the Pelicans game I think he's right
and I agree I think we should see more Brazil and then
on top of that we're obviously seeing the booing
as well as Jokic said I think those fans who boo
us they don't need to come anymore
so if you ask me they're not welcome anymore he doubled down
after the Warriors lost so now you can see both sides
of things the Gazette said there were a lot
of boos against the Warriors
and a team that just won a game by coming back from 23 down shouldn't
be booed but some fans think the best player
in the league telling them to stay home is a bad look and
that trend might matter for most of the mood
and honestly guys there is one thing with Jokic also
having said recently that he's kind of done interacting with fans
because he doesn't like it
and then saying these guys
are not welcome anymore it just feels like bad moment after bad moment
after bad moment with the Nuggets
and now part of that winning solves everything remember when the
Nuggets won the championship it
was that very famous moment where Jokic was asked when the
parade was and it wasn't for another five days
and he said because he didn't want to stay in
America he wanted to go back to Serbia
and then obviously he was on the float he was talking into
the microphone he'd been drinking and he goes i'm happy i waited
because this is amazing like he was
going crazy he was having fun we know winning solves everything
but i don't see reasons why
this team's gonna turn it around
and just start winning a bunch of games it's possible i do think
Jokic is the best player in the world
and i'm not gonna stop thinking that after three games but
at the same time it's going to take a lot
for this team to really lock in and turn things around
now guys if you do want every nugget storyline broken down like
this all season long make sure
to hit subscribe we are a little over 4,000
subscribers right now and we're trying to get
to 5k before we hit the end of the year
so here's my verdict on all this though it's three games as
Adelman said we're one and two there's 79 games
to go the offense is fine Jokic's line is fine
and Murray has bounced back the shooting should come back to normal
and as long as it does this
team will start winning games again based off
their offense but it doesn't change the fact
that the defense is a real concern it's
been a problem since last season it showed up in all
three games and you can't fix it without shooting luck
if you're not going to be a good defensive
team you have to be the best offensive team
if you want to win a championship and the Nuggets
have every reason why they can
and should be the best offensive team in basketball it's just a
matter of them hitting their stride the rebounding needs
to bounce back there's no reason why their
rebounding shouldn't be good and honestly I do think slowly
but surely we will get things kind
it back under control but guys i do want to hear from you
so let me know in the comments down below
are you panicking is it too early to panic thank you
so much for watching like this video subscribe
