And Will Reichardt's incredible season has gotten even better after a recent stats release. We're going to break down all of that in this episode of Vikings Digest. But first, we are absolutely crushing it right now with the subscriber count as this channel has seen so much growth over the past month, bringing in over 1,500 new viewers. And if you're a part of the 89% of viewers who are not yet subscribed, you want to help us reach our goal of 5500 subscribers before the Vikings end their bye week as well as catch up to Bengals Digest who are just over 800 subscribers ahead of us right now make sure to hit that subscribe button and the bell icon so you don't miss any of the episodes when they drop but that will start off right in the first topic which is the CC mentorship program and i'm talking about Chris Carter obviously one of the greatest Vikings wide receivers to ever lace them up for purple and gold one of the best like just slot receivers of all time as well just having a ton of receptions and just was an absolute stud for the franchise and ever since Justin Jefferson was drafted him and Randy Moss were basically right knocking at the door of the facility day one ever since he was drafted to mentor this young receiver into being the next generational talent that the Vikings have we've seen it go through waves where we had Chris Carter and then we had Randy Moss then we had Adrian Peterson then we have Justin Jefferson we've seen it kind of go in these waves a bit of generational talent coming through the Minnesota Vikings facility and especially in this like in the 21st century really with Randy Moss being one of the greatest wide receivers ever not just in Vikings history and then as well as Chris Carter another hall of famer but he was on up and at 'em talking about his mentorship of Justin Jefferson as well because he was in the facility recently talking about just visiting with Harrison Smith and with Justin Jefferson to try and get more and more along the same page with him and kind of guide him along in this path in the NFL saying that it was really cool I spent some time with him Justin and Harrison both guys are the last guys out of the locker room but Justin is very very happy and I love that they are both the leaders of this team when you look at the team captains I know Harrison's not a captain but when you look at the leadership the Vikings have there you have Harrison Smith on the defensive side of the ball he has the respect of everyone in that locker room and they all respond to him you can say that Blake Cashman is the captain of the team right now because he has the green dot or you got Josh Metellus in there and all that but Harrison Smith 100% is that leader on the defensive side then you got Justin Jefferson obviously the team's franchise player he is obviously that big leader on the offensive side of the ball so them leaving the locker room being the last ones to leave the locker room i absolutely love it first in last out that's the mentality you got to have as a leader but the best part of it was when Chris Carter was talking about the things that he's working on with Justin Jefferson as far as the mentorship and the quarterback controversy which brought the absolute banger of a quote where he was saying that his overall leadership we're working on some things that they're not normal receiver stuff you look at the quarterback controversy he hasn't said one word and i threatened his life and told him to keep his mouth shut and i absolutely love that because he had some guidance that went along with that as well saying he told him don't be like myself don't be like any other wide receiver keep doing exactly what you're doing you got a great image here you got the organization loves you don't complain about the quarterback don't mention the quarterback unless you say good things about him and it's only going to help you in the long run and of course with what we saw last year with the J.J. McCarthy stuff and then him getting hurt then Carson Wentz step in him getting hurt Max Brosmer stepping back in him getting hurt again after inconsistent play Max Brosmer stepping in and then stepping out it was a tumultuous year for Justin Jefferson and even before that when Kirk Cousins got injured he was still putting up numbers with Dobbs, Mullins and Hall and all those guys so he didn't really have much to complain about when you look at last year the media tried so damn hard to try and get Justin Jefferson to slip up with the questions they were asking about the quarterback play about the frustration about the stats but at the end of the day Jeff didn't care as long as they were winning football games Minnesota was winning some and in those games where he had like 20 yards receiving last year as long as they were winning games he was happy when they were losing games wasn't like he was saying yeah it's because I wasn't getting the ball there were some times where he said that but it wasn't in a sense of like yeah with me not getting the ball that's why we win because there was games where they won where he wasn't getting the ball so it was more of a sense of he just wants the team to win he doesn't care what his stats are if his stats are low and a loss maybe a little bit but if they're winning and his stats are low he doesn't care he just wants to win football games and win a Lombardi trophy I absolutely love that about Justin Jefferson being the perfect pillar of a leadership figure in this Vikings organization that is what he's done ever since he got here he's really just molded into a perfect leader for this team and I love to see it and then you look at this year where Kyler Murray's in there you can see the glow on his face even though last year he wasn't outright saying that he was pissed off you could read it on his face but you knew he was never going to say it and he was just trying to just avoid all the kind of like questions that were trying to get him slipped up when you look at Kyler Murray this year he has been so happy with talking about him in interviews and as far as getting the ball especially after that game against the Saints which I know a lot of people were drawing comparisons to that Aaron Rodgers Bears game for a particular reason but as well as just how elated he was to have gotten those kind of ball those passes that were thrown up to him where they're in double triple coverage or he's absolutely clamped seemingly so because there's no clamping Justin Jefferson where you throw it up there and you just hope that Jetts can come down with it and have perfect ball placement that's exactly what we saw from Kyler Murray and we saw Justin Jefferson performing the way that we know Justin Jefferson knows how to perform but the biggest thing that Chris Carter I think also said on Up & Adams was talking about legacy we talked about what's going to be his legacy in Minnesota we talked about maybe joining another wide receiver up in the rafters and having that number 18 where no one can ever wear that jersey again and what that kind of takes in the community on and off the field so we talked about some grown-up stuff besides football stuff and with what Justin Jefferson has as a mentorship program so to speak in Minnesota you kind of love it i mean what more could you ask for you're being mentored by Chris Carter and Randy Moss that is the perfect kind of teaching tandem for a young wide receiver in this league the only thing that would make it better is if you had Larry Fitzgerald added to it because of all the stuff with his history in Minnesota and his relationship with Randy Moss that would have made it even better or if you throw Ocho in there but we know that Justin Jefferson doesn't need any extra help from anyone outside the Vikings organization or their alumni so he is doing just fine on his own and I can't wait to see what more this season has in store with the way that we saw on the field on last Sunday against the Saints with Jefferson just going out there balling Kyler Murray looking like he's clicking this offense is starting to look like it's getting back to the way that we are used to seeing it look like how it did in 2024 but let us know down in the comments below what you guys thought about Chris Carter's comments I absolutely loved it where he was just being honest saying hey I threatened him saying do not say anything you gotta love that kind of honesty from old man Chris Carter there and you love to see how it's going to affect JJ or just Justin Jefferson's growth I'm getting my JJ's mixed up there but Justin Jefferson continuing to grow as a leader and a superstar in this league it's going to be fantastic to watch over the course of his career in Minnesota but let us know your guys's thoughts down in the comments below that's going to take us into the second topic of the day which is Reichard's streak continues and we saw Will Reichard have an absolutely baller game on Sunday against the Saints right now is the most field goals made this season he's 14 of 14 and has made his last 30 straight 35 straight since last season and we know that Will Richardson's been an absolute beauty and we know that he's been on a great streak going on I just hope it's not jinxed at the wrong time we don't want the traumas of Gary Anderson and Blair Walsh to just scar us again we can't go through that we cannot have that again so Will Richardson's been an absolute dog hope that he keeps it going but what I thought was even crazier aside from the streak because I don't want to jinx any of that stuff like I did with the Donovan Jackson stuff that I caught caught a lot of heat for in the comments but one of the things that I think is great about Will Richardson when you look at how he has scored more points in the last two weeks than any of the Vikings opponents have like this is insane scored 26 points when the opponents only scored 23 that is a testament to his talents as a kicker and Brian Flores as well with his defense just absolutely locking teams down and the offense just needs to get a little bit better going on and I think we saw that on Sunday where they scored a lot more points than we saw in the past couple of games where they're not going to have to lean on Richardson hopefully as much kind of conserve that leg strength to make sure he's ready for the entire season you don't want to wear him down too early but I am absolutely loving it you know that when the Vikings drafted Will Richardson he was going to be something special because you don't just go out and draft a kicker normally that high in the draft even though it wasn't a super high draft pick still relatively high where a lot of people are going okay this kid might got something because the Vikings are taking a chance on him at this point in the draft and we're seeing it pay off I just hope it continues don't want to jinx anything again I just want to see Will Riker continue to knock that ball through the uprights and keep putting points on the board for us and being literally clearly the MVP player of this team you've got to love it and I can't wait to see more of it but let us know your guys's thoughts down in the comments below which the which part you're more excited about for this season is it Justin Jefferson's continued ascension as a leader and a superstar or is it Will Riker continuing to be an absolute badass for this team and one of the best players that we have that was surprisingly not what we were expecting going into this season we're very happy that it is let us know down in the comments below that's going to do it for this episode of Vikings Digest again thank you guys so much for liking subscribing hitting that bell icon so you don't miss the episodes when they drop but for now I've been your host Griffin take care
