Welcome back. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost over.
That doesn't mean that you're out of time to help.
There's ways that you can help throughout the year. Joining us live,
Ashley Miller with the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Ashley, first tell me about the RollerTown Open.
Yes, so we are coming to you live today from PGA of America,
where over 100 golfers have just teed off for Hope.
We're so excited that it's the second annual RollerTown Open,
where we have partnered with the city of Frisco
and RollerTown Beer Works
to host amazing golfers, celebrities, businesses alike,
to come out and help us help more women now.
And so you said this is the second one, so now second annual.
You see the information there on the screen.
I mean, talk about, of course,
October is where you see all the pink and everything.
And I know that there's so many cancers
and foundations that people want to give to.
But you can help provide funding for research
and other things throughout the year, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
So while we have funded research, actually millions towards research,
our focus is on helping women now.
So a lot of people don't realize that National Breast Cancer Foundation
is headquartered right here in Frisco, Texas.
We're in your own backyard.
our mission is helping women now where we can help navigate women
no matter where they are in
their breast health journey to eliminate their barriers to care
so yes of course it's breast
cancer awareness month and we know that people see pink everywhere
but we really want to encourage
people that when you see that pink go prioritize
your breast self-exam schedule that life-saving
mammogram or of course tell the most important females
in your life to prioritize their breast
health. Ashley, what type of information
do you wish people knew more about? And I know one thing
might just be something as simple as women getting
that mammogram. It's something that
everyone has, women in their life,
and some put it off and say, oh, I'm going to go do it
next month, and then that turns into next year.
What do you hope viewers get from you guys coming
on talking about this?
Well, yeah, we know everybody knows someone who's been affected
by this disease. In fact, one in eight women will
be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
But the good news is, is that when it's detected
in its earliest localized stages,
it's 99.9% preventable, survivable, early detection saves lives.
And if people take
one thing away from our time together today,
it's that National Breast Cancer Foundation is here to
help. Of course, the headquarters, like I mentioned,
are right here in your backyard in Frisco, Texas,
but we're in all 50 states and we want to be problem solvers.
I want you to know that I come to you
with confidence and sincerity in my heart
when I say we want to help you.
So if and when you need us, we're here at NBCF.org.
You can find out more about our life-saving programs and services
and you'll be navigated to a real-life person
who will come alongside you
to ensure that no one navigates breast cancer alone.
