We have an update on that breaking news out of Dixmoor.
We now know at least one person is
dead in a massive FBI investigation happening now.
Yeah, Saquon has been out there all morning.
She joins us live with an update.
Say, give us the latest information that you have.
Yeah, we were just talking with Dixmoor's police chief
who gave us an idea as to how this all went
down. First of all, it sounds like this is solely an FBI situation.
The FBI apparently was serving
a warrant here at that same home.
And they had called the Dixmoor Police Department the day prior
and asked Dixmoor Police to set up a perimeter around
this area in case. So we know that Dixmoor
Police, their police chief was telling me they had really nothing
to do with this other than to help
set up that perimeter for the FBI.
And it sounds like the Cook County Sheriff's Office is also
helping in this investigation,
at least assisting the FBI in their investigation. As you mentioned,
that update came in literally a minute ago, guys.
We've now learned that one person is dead and no
FBI agents were injured in all of this.
It's been a very chaotic scene out here all morning long.
We are hearing from residents around us
that family members are said to be at the hospital.
That's some information that we were just getting
in. And I'll step out of the way. I mean,
maybe you guys can take a look for yourself just
to see how much the scene has progressed. Really,
there's not a whole lot of new things happening,
except it looks like there's officers actually
taking down some of this tape that's been put up.
That tape is pretty new, by the way. I mean,
they've only had this up for a couple of hours
at this point. So it does signal that maybe
things are starting to die down a little bit.
Obviously, with this update here,
it does seem like maybe that investigation will start
to wrap up, but it's unclear. I mean,
they still have a whole armored vehicle out here
in the driveway of that home where they executed
that search warrant, we understand.
They also have a huge truck in the back. It appears to be
some sort of command unit. We zoomed in on the license plates earlier,
and it did show government
plate. So we're still trying to figure out exactly what
that vehicle is doing there.
But really, in the meantime, guys,
we've seen a lot of these FBI agents. If I had to count and
estimate here, I would say probably at least 12 to 15 agents here.
They've all kind of been
huddled around the same area.
And really, it's only been these FBI agents. Dixmoor Police hasn't,
they have just kind of stood away from the scene.
Same with Cook County Sheriff's Office.
They've kind of just been lingering around,
meanwhile the FBI has taken complete control
of the situation it seems.
So once again, the biggest update,
of course, we know that one person was hurt.
They didn't really go into detail, how were they hurt?
What exactly happened?
Obviously, we saw that ambulance arrive here on scene.
One thing that I would like to point out,
residents were, when they were in that process
of kind of screaming at these authorities,
right, yelling at them, they were frustrated,
especially earlier in the morning.
We did hear language also that was similar to,
there's a lack of emergency services in
Dixmoor.
And I'm saying this just based on my observation here.
That ambulance that took away the person
who we know FBI agents were really focused on,
that ambulance was from the Posen Fire Department,
which is just next door to Dixmoor.
And so, you know, there were concerns, I mean,
we heard people yelling about that earlier.
The ambulance didn't come on time, it wasn't.
But again, we haven't heard from, you know, the side
of first responders at this point.
I'm just simply relaying what I've heard,
just being out here on the ground from residents
who are concerned.
But from what I understand,
at least with the people who are out here right now, there's
still a pretty big crowd.
There's still neighbors kinda peeking out
and trying to see what's going on.
They still don't really know, in fact,
we are kind of delivering this for them.
And so, you know, going back to our conversation 30 minutes ago,
there is definitely some frustration
that's been growing here because we haven't
really necessarily seen any of these officials
coming out here and chatting with these residents themselves.
They just sent out a press release,
which of course, you know, it gives us information.
But for these residents, they're confused and,
you know, they just, they want answers.
So we're gonna stay on top of this.
Of course, this is probably gonna be here for quite some time,
even though they're starting
to take some of that tape down,
looks like the other tape is still staying up.
So we'll see how long they're out here.
We are seeing many vehicles still here on site.
So, of course, with any other information,
I'll check back in and we'll update you guys.
Hey, say, quick question.
I know you got a chance to talk to the Dixmoor police chief.
Obviously, this is not his investigation.
It sounds like it belongs to the FBI.
But sources have told us five people were in custody.
Did he say anything about that?
He couldn't comment on this.
There was some confusion
because it sounds like these people could have been taken into custody.
perhaps for questioning, not necessarily for anything else.
He did allude to the fact that these were younger people.
There were maybe some questions around the fact
that they could have been released, but
we're still trying to confirm that.
You know, that I talked with the police chief
for probably 30 seconds right in between, you know, these live shots.
So hopefully we can try to track that police chief down again.
And, you know, Tia, as you mentioned,
this is not really in Dixmoor's jurisdiction.
So how far can they comment on this?
We're not really sure.
The fact that they were even allowed
to tell us that, you know, they set up this whole
perimeter for the FBI, you know,
it's not typically something that we expect to get right in the
middle of something that's so active.
So we'll try to catch up with that police chief again
and see if there's maybe any updates
on those people who, you know, are in custody
or are said to be in custody based on that police
and law enforcement source.
But of course, we'll let you know what we hear.
