AI GeneratedA heavy FBI presence in Dixmoor has led to the arrest of approximately five individuals following a high-intensity operation involving flashbangs and drones. While authorities claim there is no threat to the public, residents remain distressed and frustrated by a lack of transparency after witnessing a person being transported via ambulance receiving CPR.
Yeah, sources actually tell me several people
are in custody in connection with whatever is
happening in Dixmoor.
We know Saquon has been on the ground all morning long for us,
witnessing exactly what has unfolded,
including someone getting CPR in the back of an ambulance
chest compressions. Say,
is there anything new that you can disclose for us this morning?
Well, I honestly haven't had much luck
in even tracking down an official who I can speak to
and ask questions about.
I did kind of run after an FBI agent or someone who's at least
associated with the FBI, kind of looked like an investigator.
But he did tell me that there's no threat to the public.
That was very important because
obviously when you think of a police presence like
this in your neighborhood, you obviously
have some concerns. So no threat to the public at all,
that's confirmed. And he also said
that the FBI is expected to talk about this in some sort of way.
We don't know if it's gonna be a press conference.
It's likely going to just be a press release
where we can learn some more information that kind
of gives us an idea as to what happened here.
As we know, and as I mentioned in the last 30 minutes ago,
we've learned from a police source that about five people
are said to be in custody right now in connection to this.
We don't know who they are.
We don't know their ages. We don't know why.
But we do know that there has
been a police presence here for hours at this point.
You can see this entire area here at the corner of 145th and Cooper
in Dixmoor is blocked off right now, this entire street, in fact.
We've seen some residents having a hard time getting
to their houses today, and they're kind of working with authorities
to try to figure out how they can best get to their destinations.
You know, something that's interesting, too, is,
guys, I've never seen more FBI agents arriving
to the scene where it's pretty much already controlled by the FBI.
I mean, at this point, yes, we're seeing Dixmoor police and yes,
we are seeing Cook County Sheriff's Office
who have confirmed that they're assisting in this investigation.
But as far as any of the action goes,
you know, it's really been the FBI.
We saw them lining up.
We saw them make forcible entry.
We heard them using things like flashbangs to get inside.
We even saw them using drones at some point.
And we did see, as you mentioned earlier, Tia,
you know, there was a person on the ground
that these FBI agents were all basically on top of.
And we saw that person getting loaded
into the back of an ambulance, and they drove off.
Now, they didn't drive off right away from the scene.
They actually stayed on scene for about five minutes
or so before they actually left this residential area.
They did ultimately leave with sirens and lights on later,
but originally they took off pretty quietly.
I did try to ask that FBI official whether he could tell me
anything about that person who was transported to the hospital,
or so we think. And he couldn't tell me anything.
And he kind of just alluded to the fact that the
FBI would be giving out some more information sometime
this morning. That's typical, right?
I mean, an investigation takes time.
And obviously, we saw that person getting loaded into
the back of the ambulance not too long ago.
So now, typically in these situations, we see
investigators going inside,
collecting any sort of evidence that they can. But what's interesting
is we've seen more of these investigators going door
to door right now at a lot of these homes
on the same street, but not much
of the typical investigation that we're used to where all of
these authorities go inside and take pictures and bring cameras out.
So we're trying to figure out
exactly what's happening because obviously this is still active
and roads are blocked off.
There's no threat to the public,
but there's still many questions because
there were already like 10, 15 FBI agents on scene.
And then I would say an additional five
to six more FBI agents pulled up in just the last 10 minutes.
So lots of questions here. We do
hope to get some more answers for you guys.
In the meantime, I know it can be frustrating
to not have that sort of clarity,
just like for many of these people who are in the neighborhood
right now. They're trying to figure out what's going on too.
So hopefully we can hear from the
FBI more on this soon. And it does sound like
the FBI is kind of the lead agency on this as
they are the ones that are expected to talk.
So we'll continue checking in with you guys,
and we'll let you know what we hear.
Hey, Say, have you been able to talk to
any neighbors? And I ask that because
this is why people do not trust those in authority.
And you said it, if neighbors don't know what's going on,
they have a right to know. We are
taxpayers, we pay their paychecks.
And how frightening. And if they're telling you don't
worry, no threat to the public,
yet there are dozens of FBI agents continuing to arrive on scene
That to me seems like a still active scene,
and there is a threat to the public.
So I guess I'm angry for the people
who live there not knowing what is going on in their
neighborhood and now they can't even get to their house.
Yeah, absolutely, Natalie,
I think you're hitting it right on the nail there.
I think for a lot of these residents,
of course, they're gonna be frustrated.
And it seems like some of these people
who were very obviously in distress earlier when
all of this was going on, it seemed like they knew the person
who was being transported
into the ambulance, whether that's a friend,
whether that's a neighbor that they're close
with a family member.
I will say there was one person in particular who really caught
my attention because she was the one doing most of the yelling.
She was saying they shot my baby.
She was saying they're doing CPR and we saw that happening
in real time. The interesting thing is the same people
who were in distress earlier are
all still here except I'm not seeing that one woman.
So it's possible maybe she is working
with authorities right now
and maybe she is getting those answers. But at this point,
I mean, I've tried and everyone's just standing around waiting
for any of these authorities
to just approach these people at this point.
I mean, I did see an FBI official talking with that woman
who was really in distress
earlier today, who was the one that was saying that they shot my baby.
And it sounded like they were doing something
or having some sort of conversation, but I
wasn't able to see where they actually went.
So it's possible that maybe she is working with authorities right now.
But at least for the folks out here,
they're looking at me, I'm looking at them.
confused. We're trying to get answers
and hopefully we can get that to you guys soon.
I know you said that woman, you don't see her out there now.
Is there still a crowd out there, Say?
Yeah, I don't want to show you guys the crowd just
because they are still in distress,
I would say. And I just out of respect for all of these people
who got out here in the middle of the
day or whatever, they probably were in bed
and came out to this huge scene.
So I don't want to necessarily show that.
But yeah, there's a decent crowd out here of people
who have been living in this neighborhood,
it sounds like for a while. The first woman I talked
to was actually on the other side of where we are,
on the opposite side of the street.
And she was saying, I came out here
because I heard what sounded like gunshots, but no
one can tell me anything.
And so that was even at what, 6 o'clock or 6.30,
I can't remember exactly when we got
here, but right when we first got there.
And so she asked me to go to these officers
and ask if there's anything that she should
be worried about.
And even they just said, there's not really much we can say.
So yeah, I think Natalie, you absolutely have a point.
I think these people are demanding transparency
and I think they're valid in doing that.
But also with that in mind,
we also know that it takes time sometimes for these investigators
to figure out how they're gonna present some
of the evidence that they might have already,
how they're gonna say it.
And I do understand the frustration here
because everyone's trying to just figure out what's
going on.
Yeah, I mean, you've got military vehicles
on your street in front of your house.
All right, thanks so much, Say.
Yeah, and I do want to point out the fact that we have had
the village president, also known as the mayor of Dixmoor
on Fox Chicago before Fitzgerald Roberts talking about water issues.
We are actively working to get him hopefully on the phone today
to talk about what's going on there, at least tell
the people there's no threat to the public if that is the case.
So we're working to make that happen
for you right here on Good Day Chicago.
