Voronezh on fire: drones attack aircraft factory, petrochemical plant, and strategic bridge

On the night of Monday, October 26, the Russian city of Voronezh was subjected to a massive air strike, accompanied by a series of powerful explosions. A missile and drone alert was in effect in the region for an extended period. Key Russian defense industry facilities, a transportation artery, and city buildings were targeted.
This was reported by a number of monitoring channels, in particular Exilenova+.
Among the main targets of the attack was the petrochemical giant Voronezhsintezkauchuk, which is part of the SIBUR group and produces thermoplastic elastomers, synthetic butadiene and styrene-butadiene rubbers, as well as polymer materials for the needs of the military-industrial complex. The Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing Company, a key Russian aviation industry enterprise within the structure of PJSC Ilyushin, part of the United Aircraft Corporation, was also targeted. It is involved in the Il-96 long-range aircraft production program and produces components for various aircraft types. In addition to these industrial giants, the Northern Bridge, one of the three main transport arteries connecting the right and left banks of the Voronezh River, was also targeted. Russian air defense operations and falling debris also caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. The Uritsky residential complex was damaged, and a fire broke out on 45th Rifle Division Street, destroying at least 10 cars. The Chizhov Gallery business center was also hit. Broken windows and damaged facades were reported in virtually every corner of the city, including the school stadium, a garage cooperative, and two dacha communities. Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev confirmed the deaths of two men. Another 17 people were injured. A significant number of the victims were passengers on a train in the left-bank suburbs where debris from the downed drone fell.
According to local authorities, air defense forces allegedly neutralized more than 70 drones directly over Voronezh and a total of 113 UAVs within the region and metropolitan area. Fires broke out at several industrial sites, but officials claim they did not cause critical damage.
