Iran has launched two medium-range ballistic missiles at the joint UK-US base on Diego Garcia, demonstrating a strike capability of 2,500 miles—far exceeding their previously claimed range. This escalation follows UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's decision to authorize the base for American strikes against Iran, sparking debate over the current state and future trajectory of the conflict.
James Kaufman, World News Report Today.
Iran fires ballistic missiles at UK-US base of Diego Garcia
mere hours after Prime Minister Starmer authorizes
the use of the British air base for American strikes.
Iran fired two missiles
an astonishing 2,500 miles away,
proving that they can hit any target in Western Europe.
Failing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer,
who is no Winston Churchill,
has had a tough time with the relentless criticism
from U.S. President Donald J. Trump
over his refusal to help the special ally
in the military operation in Iran.
Starmer's initial reluctance was followed
by a narrow authorization for defense-only flights.
Finally, in what British press termed as a shift,
reversal, or the mother of all U-turns,
Stormer relented and authorized the U.S.-British base,
including Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford,
for strikes on Iran
and Iranian missile sites targeting the Straits of Hormuz.
While the exact timeline is difficult to ascertain in open intel,
within a few hours of Starmer's new announcement,
Iran fired two medium-range ballistic missiles
at the British U.S. Diego Garcia base in the Chagos Islands.
Now, they were intercepted, folks,
but this means that they can hit any target in Western Europe.
Wow.
Eric Daugherty posted on X,
Wow, President Trump has been proven right again.
On the world stage, Iran just proved
that they can fire missiles way beyond the Middle East
and hit any target in Western Europe.
They've been lying all along.
They just fired two missiles
at Diego Garcia 2,500 miles away.
Previously, Iran said that their missiles could only go 1,300 miles.
They lied.
Guess what?
They lie about everything.
Trump was right.
How many missiles
that go this far?
The officials say it's very clear he was lying,
as well as other officials.
Diego Garcia, 4,000 kilometers away.
For Charlie, let's put this in miles, about 2,500 miles.
And previously,
Iran said their missiles only go 2,000 kilometers or about 1,300 miles.
So clearly this demonstrates that three weeks into this war,
Iran still has some ability to launch some ballistic missiles
and apparently some ballistic missiles
that nobody knew they had wrapped in CIA and Mossad as well.
But President Trump says he thinks this war is starting to wind down
after more than 15,000 missions between the United States
and Israeli air forces
striking over 8,000 targets across Iran.
And now we have the venerable A-10 Warthog,
that 50-year-old war horse running
strafing missions along the coastline
against those small boats associated
with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
A-10 with that 30-millimeter cannon
that shoots depleted uranium shells,
probably the only uranium the Trump administration wants to see in Iran
after those strikes mentioned on the 10th and the nuclear sites,
and recall during Midnight Hammer, those nuclear sites were hit.
Officials say this is always going
to be part of the latter stages of the war,
Those nuclear sites don't shoot back, of course.
It had to take out the air defense systems,
had to take out ballistic missiles,
which the Pentagon insists are down 90%,
although I should mention that Iran able
to launch about 60 drones in Saudi Arabia earlier today
and overnight back in the United States,
Kuwait, and here in the Emirates,
air defense systems were active.
And, folks, I believe the war is just beginning.
I believe that very little of their ability
to fire ballistic missiles and rockets has been removed,
which is really their main offense.
So I believe that we're just getting started here
and that Trump may be looking at boots on the ground.
Obviously, we've deployed tens of thousands of troops.
What possible reason, unless he is thinking about boots on the ground,
I can't think of any.
Hopefully, Trump is supplying the revolutionaries
in Iran with small arms as we speak.
We've got to stick to that plan, folks.
Got to get some arms,
some of those helpless revolutionaries in Iran that want their freedom.
In the meantime, we'll keep a close eye on the Straits of Hormuz
and see if America is able to keep those Straits open to shipping.
So far, really, I would say not much luck.
We do have the A-10 Warthogs now running patrols up
and down the Straits there.
And that should change the dynamics of the situation,
but time will tell.
So, again, I don't think the war's anywhere close to,
even close to being finished.
Nothing's occurred.
We haven't put our hands on the uranium.
And what have we done?
We've gotten rid of their, well,
most of their Navy and some of their ground launchers.
And really, that's about it.
A lot of their leadership.

Bizarro World.
