James Kaufman will report today.
Ladies and gentlemen, JPL, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,
has just announced that we have a near-Earth object
that's going to make a very close pass
to Earth, the line between Earth
and our Moon. It's named 2026 FM3.
2026 FM3, it was just spotted
somehow bring it into the inner solar system
which includes Mars, Venus, Mercury and Earth
and the white line is going to be our space rock
and this is the close approach to Earth right here
now this is supposed to happen I believe
on the 25th we have to get the actual time here in just
a moment to make sure it doesn't end up on the 24th
or the 26th because of it being UTC time.
But this is supposed to happen on the 25th,
and this rock's showing very little inclination
whatsoever, almost on our solar plane, which we all know doesn't exist.
The sun is out in front
pulling the rest of the planets behind it.
However, it's going to be close enough that
there shouldn't be a problem now the rock itself
is only about five meters about 20 feet in diameter
now after the three foot rock did all
the damage just yesterday before in Houston
i thought i better cover this one it's going
to be coming closer to earth and it's going to be
coming to the moon so it's going to fly about 85,000 miles away
from earth but usually these rocks
have companions and on every single day we've
been hit there's been another rock that they have
located that has flown by safely so this is a
near-earth object, a meteor, a space rock 2026
FM3 inbound for the 25th, we'll get some additional
information right now, all right, solution date
March 23rd, you know I'm bringing you guys
the information as soon as I get it, total observations
31 observations over only a two-day period, first spotted
on the 21st and of course they gave us
the solution i.e. today, now the condition code
is well, fairly decent, zero meaning they know exactly
how fast it's going and how big it
is, and nine meaning they have no idea, five is right in between
the two, one of the lower condition codes I've
seen, especially since I've only been able to
observe the rock for two days, 31 times, the rock
is moving slow, about 5.5 kilometers per second
it is considered slow in the thick of things
if you will, the rock again is about 20 feet in
diameter, it will be passing between Earth
and the moon without hitting either, with any luck
It was found by our automatic or AI software
because we know humans, well, are just about
worthless these days.
So that's what we have.
Let's get some close approach data here.
So it's going to be about 80,000 miles from Earth.
Off those very few 31 observations we extracted pages
and pages of past and future flybys
and we're here on March 25th uh earth fly
by here 0.001 astronomical units
it's going to be about 85,000 miles out uh
which is well about almost half the way to the moon but
not quite closer to earth than the moon
and let's get a time of the day we can hear it's going to
to be 2:07 UTC time on the 25th.
So we're going to have to move this to the 24th tomorrow
night. This is going to be 9:07 central time
on the 24th. 9:07 central time on the 24th
will make its close approach
to the moon about three hours after that. And you can see it's
moving only at about 5.5 to 6.5 kilometers
per second here relative speed in kilometers per
second so a fairly slow moving space rock
no inclination not huge but sizable i couldn't
imagine that that three foot rock weighed one ton
so trying to keep our eyes on all these rocks
it appears so that's what we have
a close flyby tomorrow
on the 24th at about 9:07 p.m
central time here we'll take one last look
at that again our near-earth object space rock
meteor and perhaps meteorite if it does make
landfall 2026 FM3 coming by on the 24th
central time at about 9:07 tomorrow evening i want to make
y'all aware that that was occurring
through all the rocks that have dropped
in to say hi recently now with that said eyes to the skies
folks there's a lot more rocks falling than
the ones at JPL are catching period
please make sure to share our video please subscribe if you haven't and
always remember
that anything's possible bizarro world God bless
