James Kaufman, World News Report, today.
NASA warns about dangerous sunspot coming around the limb.
We've had a long-duration solar flare.
Sunspot 4405, just named,
erupted on March 28th today,
producing a very long-duration solar flare.
The explosion lasted more than seven hours,
shown here in a time-lapse video
from NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory, or SDO.
The flare peaked at an M1.3, but it was actually much,
much more powerful than a typical M flare.
This solar flare was most definitely an X-class solar flare
and lifted a huge coronal mass ejection
that was heavily eclipsed by the limb of our sun.
It will barely miss Earth with all that said.
Hours of explosive uplift pulled
a significant coronal mass ejection into space.
Again, it will not hit Earth this time.
But the sunspot group has moved
into our strike zone within the last few hours.
known as again sunspot 4405 it's a large and very
complex sunspot group again any future explosions
will be geo-effective towards earth look i have
the noah model on this i'm about to show you all
from LASCO C3 it shows the coronal mass ejection lifted
from the surface of our star this will
barely miss Earth per all the forecasts and predictions.
What we also have is a picture
of that sunspot that I'd like to show y'all because it's a mess.
Now remember this was a
seven hour long explosion. Seven hour long explosion
that came up as an M flare but it was
mostly eclipsed by the limb of our star.
Let's take a look at the sunspot group on both HMI and
the sunspot itself.
So it turns out that both HMI and SOHO were not taken today.
I wonder why.
This is the sunspot group that blew.
This is another huge sunspot coming around the limb.
They never seem to take the pictures when you need them to.
Let's take a look at the sunspot
currently and see what the complexity actually
is i was hoping we could see if it was reverse
polarity or not but that won't be possible headed to the latest
and greatest that we have from SOHO
this is the HMI intensogram this doesn't tell us all we need
to know but it does tell us that 4405
is a beta gamma sunspot becoming more complex probably going
to end up as a delta class sunspot
i can't believe it's moved
so much in just a few hours we have actually one going around the
far limb that won't be effective
and we have a total of looks like nine sunspot groups
earth facing if we include this one going around the limb we
also have a large sunspot that will
be named this evening or later tomorrow
so on our list right now is 4401 up here on top beta gamma
but mostly 4405 that could have
been a real real hit on earth
if we receive an x flare right now
There's no atmosphere
or shields left to help us survive.
Even an X-40 flare would be lights out for humanity.
God bless.

Bizarro world.
