You're busy as always.
I am super busy.
And you're working with filmmakers who are creating
a cool movement here in Detroit to get people to the polls
because we know the election is coming up very soon here.
Yes, it's an exciting collaboration between the Millionaire
Master Class Academy and When We All Vote initiative.
And that's an initiative by our own Michelle Obama.
Yes.
And so this collaboration, they're going around
the country just having pop-ups to party for the polls.
And you know people love a good party.
So that will help get them to vote, right?
And so tonight we are doing one specifically with the film industry
because, you know, here in Detroit,
we have Tubi, we have things on Amazon.
I mean, we're just on the map. We're killing it.
Let me tell you something. I have been in 10 movies.
Well, that's what I was going to ask you about
because I know you're a people expert.
you help us get our lives together mental health mental wellness
but you've been out here acting
in these streets too Dr. Sabrina, let me tell you what's
so crazy people call me and say i wrote
something specifically for you wow from seeing me
on tv they said my personality jumps out at you
we love that i am so excited that i've
been in thrillers i've been in comedy oh yeah she's doing
at all i love it and so we're getting everybody together
from joe smith to come on we're just
having everyone at the event tonight just not to talk politics
but just to talk about the importance
of voting yes so we can vote early starting today
so we want people to vote early don't wait till
november to the last minute because
then something could come up and prevent you from making your
voice heard right guess what i'm doing on november
the 3rd what are you doing having full knee
replacement oh so you can't you have to vote early vote early wow
so why would you say it's important
for people to get out and make sure their voices
are heard if especially the ones who don't think
their voices matter let me tell you something
when you think about voting people count because
we're counting votes so if your vote isn't there
we can't count it well say that again so there are
people who have lost for 60 votes just think
if 60 people have just gotten up yeah and gone to vote
so i believe that our ancestors have fought i agree yes
so because i have the right i'm going
to exercise that right because once upon a time we did
not have that option even if we wanted to
vote we couldn't right and it wasn't
that long ago yeah truly it really wasn't that long ago so we
need to make sure that we honor the shoulders that we stand upon yes
and we support this
an amazing opportunity to vote for who we feel should
be giving voice to what we are concerned
about. Absolutely. And talk about how important this election is.
We do have an open U.S. Senate
seat right now. That's a big deal here in Michigan.
And I mean, it's been making the news
nationally as well. Definitely making the news nationally.
When I woke up this morning, one of
my best friends in Atlanta texted me and says,
what's going on with that seat? We're talking
about it we want to know what's going on and so i i love
the fact that we have this opportunity to
put someone in office who we feel will represent our vote
and whatever that is for you right
because we can't tell you
who to vote for we just want to make sure that you vote yeah so if you
want your voice heard you got a place you vote how about
the fact that we see a lot of people
They don't vote, but they complain.
Oh, my goodness.
That's something to say.
Let me say this.
I heard the amazing Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley,
and she said something that I absolutely love.
She said that voting is a form of self-care.
Wow.
I love that she painted that picture that way.
She painted that picture, and I say all the time,
self-care is a requirement, not a recommendation.
So you're required.
to vote take care of yourself make sure you vote there have lots
of sites right now you can go to
Northwest Activity Center you can go
to the main election space on Grand Boulevard but you can just
go take your license and vote wow so party at the polls
and that's happening today it's happening
this evening 7 p.m on West McNichols i don't know
the exact address we'll have it for you on the
website we'll have it for you
and they'll see you there i definitely will be there be sure to get
out there now i do want to ask about
this movie stuff we talked about the important stuff so when
you say people they have roles they immediately think
of you tell us about some of those roles
that they've had you play well of course i play therapist okay
of course that's the obvious one
one of the movies that i'm in is called Lester
and Lester is a thriller and it's this guy who
is really not a guy he's actually a woman
but he thinks he's a guy so he has a mental illness
and he uh kidnaps women just all kind of craziness
but at the end he slit his throat what and so he
was in a straitjacket in the insane asylum
and i was his doctor oh you were the doctor
okay so cool was that he kept saying why
are you calling me by a female's name and quietly you hear
my shoes walking across the floor i said can i show you something
and i take a mirror and put it
up to and he just wow so it's thrilling
and so i've been in something called baby mama drama
oh comedy that was a comedy comedy oh goodness
because this one particular person had seven
different children by seven different women oh
that sounds like a celebrity we know but i think
more kids more kids than the celebrity
but in the show he comes to me as a doctor and i do a full
ram of tests on him come to find out he has
a real disorder called Klinefelter's disorder which
means your um sperm are sickle cell shaped it's sickle shaped
which means they don't swim which
means he was impotent which means none of those seven oh
that's good it's so good that's a plot
twist I wasn't expecting okay
so out of all the roles that you have the the chance to play you
got the thrillers the comedies what's
your favorite genre I have to say comedy really I have to say
comedy because I believe that laughter is medicine for your soul
and so even though I am a mental
health professional and all of that I laugh
on purpose all the time I love that so the fact that
someone saw that there's something in me
that can help other people laugh that I'm not just
stuck in being clinical right
but that it is funny I'm in a sitcom and the sitcom is a comedy
where I play uh my part is Dr. Hershey oh
and I'm Dr. Hershey because I got all this I love it come
on chocolate Dr. Hershey and so it's a comedy it's funny all
the people that come in that I interview
and doing sessions with them, it is absolutely hilarious.
Oh, my goodness.
Just when I thought I knew everything Dr. Sabrina was doing
because she's here, there, and everywhere.
I mean, another incredible talent.
She acts, too.
We also know you have these events where
people can come in, check in with you.
Yes.
Is it Breakfast with Breezy?
Breakfast with Breezy.
And the mindset behind that is that breakfast
is the most important meal of the day.
Yes, people forget.
And my son has a Chick-fil-A location,
and so I do it at his location, which is in Lincoln Park.
We do it the last Wednesday of every month,
and it's from 9 to 11, breakfast hours.
So you can come and get great breakfast.
We have great networking, and we can talk about whatever.
So if you have that question that you may not be able to come
and sit in the office and talk to me about your issues, just come on.
And just let's open up the discussion.
And then also, I have prizes.
I love giving gifts.
Oh, wait.
I didn't know there were gifts now.
What can the people get?
Oh, I have gifts for men and gifts for women.
I have smell good stuff.
I have gift cards, you know, because gas is just ridiculous.
Okay, can we talk about it?
It's stressing me out.
Yes.
We're going to give people advice on how to de-stress from debt.
How to de-stress from the money thing.
And so I am so excited to support my son and his wife
and their business.
But let me tell you something, that waffle and chicken.
We got to give Dr. Sabrina her props because she made sure that we
were able to try that new sandwich when they came out with it.
It is so good.
Delicious.
I don't even like bread that much.
And that's how you know it's good when you don't normally eat it.
I don't normally eat it.
And you're like, hmm, it's so good.
It was delicious with the syrup, too.
Yes.
Thank you for that again.
That was a great morning.
That was a great morning.
Yes.
Thank you for connecting us with your son.
and that sandwich we appreciate it uh you do have
a book oh i have a new book new book i have
several books author actress uh
the people expert i'm pretty sure i need more hands look mama
but i have a new book
and it's called dr sabrina's 52 weeks of mental wellness
the acronym edition we love your acronym i love an acronym
and i didn't realize that i had
hundreds of them oh have you not re-watched your fox 2 interviews
and they're all so great
you're not just saying them
and it's going over our heads like it's really sticking with it up to
me and say oh my god i remember when you said
and i was like really you're like i said that that was
good another lady that had a file
in her phone where she has taken pictures and she has them all
and so i put them in a book and guess
who wrote the foreword to life oh who could it be i think
I know him, but go ahead and share. Charlie Langston.
How was it having the Charlie Langston
write the foreword for your book? Well, let me say this.
I would not be on Fox 2 if it wasn't
for Charlie Langston. Really?
In 2014, I was the keynote speaker for a breakfast for attorneys
and he was in the audience. Wow.
And afterwards he came up to me and you know how he is. Yes.
You are amazing.
Oh, wait a minute.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my goodness.
Yep.
I'm going to get you on Let It Rip.
And I thought that he was just kind of hyped from the moment.
But two weeks later, they called me.
I have been doing something at Fox 2 since 2014.
And it was because of Charlie Langston.
I did not know that.
Yes, that's the real story.
So, of course, when I thought about pulling together
the things that I've been doing here,
of course I needed to pay homage to the person
who got me here wow he absolutely said yes and
it is such a touching uh foreword because he talks about
when he first met wow about um that I'm more
than just mental health and so it's just a beautiful thing
and I love that so much
Charlie does have a great eye for for talent
and he's like he's always on point with it so the fact
that he's the reason that we get
to see you every Monday every Mental Health Monday to get our lives
together for the week incredible i can't wait
to read the foreword i gotta see what he says yes all
great things i'm sure so we know you do the acronyms
that we look forward to uh they stick
with us do you have an acronym
for the people today we talked about those gas prices i just
filled up for 479 a gallon i think i'm gonna share
my favorite acronym okay let's do that
And my favorite acronym is that any
and everything that we do, we must care.
Care is just a special four-letter word.
And the C is we must be coachable.
Because how do you get better if can't nobody tell you nothing?
I know that's right.
So make sure that you're coachable.
Learn how to take feedback gracefully and implement it.
And then two is the A, and the A is to have an attitude of gratitude.
when you're complaining you can't be thankful
because you're focusing on the negative and when
you're thankful you can't be complaining
so i choose gratitude yeah and then the r is to be
righteously responsible own your stuff if you did it say you did yeah
because that's the only way
you can heal and you don't allow other people
to continue to put you back in a place that you've
already moved away yes so just own your stuff
and move on and then the e okay i used to say
embrace excellence but now i know
if you embrace it you can let it go oh now i say embody excellence
so good if i embody it my a game shows up every game yes
that was so good okay how did you come
up with the acronym because we know there's
so many and again they're all so good what's the
process what's going through your head
when you're coming up with these acronyms well let me tell you
how i started doing acronyms uh
in 2005 i started sending out morning motivational messages
in a text every morning for monday through friday okay
and then one saturday a good girlfriend of
mine that works over at amazon jillian blackwell she called me
on a saturday morning and says
Where's my acronym? Where's, where's my... oh you
were slipping, you didn't send it one morning, I didn't
send it on a Saturday or a Sunday, oh
because I felt like people needed them for the work day
and not for the weekend, she said no I need
an encouragement every day, every day, and so from
that day I started doing them every day, wow I just have tons
and tons of acronyms because people like
them, and then when I would wake up I would get up, sit
on the side of the bed and this was my
discussion with the Holy Spirit, yes amen okay
what, what they need today, oh and so I just would
sit there and a download would come a download
and even now when I'm doing my mental health Monday
oftentimes most times the week before I just kind
of start thinking about what's going on in the
world what's going on around here and then a topic will come
so like last week I did the mental
impact of blight, oh most people have never even
thought about right how blight can affect you
yeah mentally, so that's good, okay now I love the acronyms even more
because it's not you
just oh we're gonna do this today
but you're listening to the Holy Spirit and letting that
guide you to what the people need, absolutely
so it's so many people, I mean I've had bishops, I've
had people like Karen Clark Sheard, yeah
of the legendary Clark Sisters, yes come up behind me I
was at her church, she was walking behind me
and she literally jumped on my back and I said why
are you, she says, I said to, she said to herself
the next time I see Dr. Sabrina I'm just gonna
jump on her because there's no way that she knows
that I needed to hear those words is she in my
room she said she would be reading
and going is she in here oh my gosh so that's how I know it's
the Holy Spirit wow the Holy Spirit is places
that I can't be okay amen it's not even Sunday
We're going to take you out of church for a little bit.
We're preparing you for tomorrow.
It was so nice having you on this show.
Oh my goodness, I love it.
Can I just share one last thing?
Yes, please.
Today.
Today.
I am filming my own talk show.
What?
And it's called Life Made Easier with Dr. Sabrina and Company.
I'll have a live studio audience.
Wow.
So people can come on down.
You can still come on down.
The door is open at 2 p.m. at the Bond Steel right
on Woodward, 3424 Woodward.
Okay.
attached to that new amazing hotel, the A.C. Hotel.
That's a nice hotel.
That's a nice hotel.
So we're starting the show, taping right at 3 p.m.
Yay!
So people can come, no ticket price.
Just come and sit in the audience and be a part of this amazing show.
Congratulations to you.
Again, she's doing everything and she's everywhere.
So mother, host, author, actress, a host of other things, okay?
Guess what I'm not, though?
What are you?
I'm not a wife.
and she's still fabulous i'm not a wife
so i will say this i'm single oh goodness ready to mingle
we're going to have you back for valentine's day
and we're going to be taking up um some wonderful
things we might auction you off yes but you guys yeah
but they gotta y'all gotta pay this dr
sabrina now let me you gotta come correct
this is what i've learned is that a lot of people because
because they see me on tv they won't either assume
that i'm already married i don't know
what that got to do because you're so fabulous okay
and i'm not and then they then they think
that well if she's on tv she she got a whole bunch
of men no oh i don't have a whole bunch of men
said the dms are dry no no oh they're not dry they're
not dry you have potential suitors already
just that they not it's the wrong one it's
the wrong oh we need the right so okay since we're
on the topic you brought this up not me what
is dr sabrina looking for let them know okay so this
the biggest thing is that i need someone who's kind
a lot of people aren't kind no they're not
they that they don't they're not chivalrous they don't ask you out
on a date and then they what are
they doing oh no they'll say can you come over i want to netflix
and chill come over i don't know you
sir no i can't come over to your house no take me out
and you definitely can't come to my house
that part we don't need to know where we stay yeah we can't we can't
do one so just the whole
old school bring you flowers flowers flowers can't go wrong
with flowers so the whole thing about
romance is big for me okay because even though
because oh and it's the other thing people think
because i do what i do that i'm just powerful woman just all
those things yes but i'm still
a woman she's still a woman i'm still
a woman we can submit with the right person like a lady
you heard dr sabrina we need the romance we need the kindness
and you need to treat her like a lady
anything else for the people
who may be watching just a little bit now how much we're talking
gotta have a little money gotta be able to take me
to nice places where you want to eat at give
my favorite place is Ocean Prime that's
a good restaurant Ocean Prime it's not a cheap one though
it's not a cheap one
and then my second is La Petite Des Jardins oh where's that breakfast
brunch house on oh you don't know i feel like i've heard about it
and when they told me i'm
like i haven't been there yet oh my goodness
is it downtown it's in midtown okay it's right on
Woodward between Canfield
and willis okay right across the street from the mcdonald's there okay
But when I tell you that catfish
Ooh, they have catfish.
Ooh.
Are they cheesy grits or regular grits?
You can get them either.
Oh, I don't like cheesy grits.
Really?
I like my grits with just salt and butter.
And this is why I was going to ask,
are you putting sugar in your grits?
And you're not.
This is why I love Dr. Sabrina.
She gets sugar
She gets sugar
No sugar.
No sugar.
No sugar.
She's sweet, but she don't need the sugar in the grits.
She's already sweet.
But it's an amazing, amazing brunch place,
which is one of my favorite places.
On Sunday they have a DJ so they have music, it's amazing
and so they have these things called a
soul bowl, what's in it? The soul bowl is the bowl itself
is cornbread okay, which is amazing and then
they put green macaroni and cheese
and yams all in a bowl, it's a thanksgiving bowl pretty much
you wait, you don't like the bowl we're talking about
because i'm weird because i don't like my
food to touch, uh my husband okay okay
so i always get a deconstructed bowl now yeah, is that something
you came up with? yeah that's what she told me, tina motley hey
but she told me you want everything
but you want it in this little thing
because i don't, i don't think things should touch, the mac
and cheese and the yams can touch? no you don't like
when the mac and cheese and the yams, i don't
even eat yams oh dr sabrina we were doing
so great we were doing so great people always tell
me oh no my black woman's curl you did i'm taking it right now the mac
and cheese and yams can touch
okay okay what's your plate you have it
your way okay this is what i get when i go okay
muffin okay by themselves okay either a piece of catfish
or two wings and mac and cheese okay all
on a little platter but they don't
but they don't touch it's like a nice distance between the two
so we don't have one flavor of the food
on the other flavor yeah okay okay i don't like it and
then i don't like when things are supposed
to be dry like cornbread okay and then with my greens
that that that i will give you that one yeah i agree with that yeah
but the mac and cheese and
the yams i can't i can't agree with that my son eats
that i'm like what's wrong with you where
did you come from who raised you well hopefully there's
a man out there watching us right now
he can cook and he doesn't want his food touching either
and you guys get along just fine okay this
is the other thing is that it's important
for people to understand that when you when you're
meshing lives you're not trying to make another i don't want
to meet that's another segment i
already got me i need something different than me
okay you're coming back together we make a bigger
yes okay so we're gonna have you back
to talk more about that because that was good we could
be here all day but we gotta go
but you got all the guests this was great having you you really
have to come back and join us i absolutely will come back anytime
and if you're out there uh come
correct or don't come at all
and kindness uh a little bit of money okay and you need to romance
gotta be gotta be romantic
and and you can't be i hate to even say this but you gotta have
some intellect oh we need someone smart
and intelligent of course that i hate is when people
text you and they text you the wrong word like you instead of you
or like okay or like i'm here
okay but they spell it like h-e-a-r oh yeah no and no you're yours
and yours you're theirs and
theirs okay we'll be here all day thank you
for joining us dr serena this was great this was great
be sure to check them out at today's event
be sure to check out breakfast with breezy
be sure to get the book all the information i'm sure will
be on your website and social media
yeah all right and we'll see you monday yeah
all right mental health monday don't forget
