It's not enough to have Trev.
Dude, when he's over, that's when it's on.
But I guess not.
But shout-out to Trev for picking me up there.
When you're waiting around for that
and you see him still out there warming up, throwing pitches,
like, how difficult is it to do what he did in that situation?
I mean, he's been doing it all year and been really successful at it.
So, I mean, you have faith in your guys, and I had faith.
It's just a little more stressful.
Did you think Bryce was going to wheel around
and throw that ball to second?
I kind of thought it went through.
I'm going to try and get out of the way here.
I kind of thought it was going to go through,
and then I saw him field it,
and I was like, oh, shoot, and tried to get to the bag
and caught it and tried to get rid of it quick.
I couldn't tell how far he was from the base.
I probably didn't have to throw it that hard
and probably could have settled down
a little bit and hit him in the chest.
I know he was fielding it on the run and throwing it on the run away
and couldn't really see the runner because I was looking this way
and kind of hucked it,
and a big play by Bowers there to pick me up, too.
I mean, it wound up being,
under the circumstances, a pretty decent throw.
You thought you ended Game 1 of the World
Series with a double play, right?
Yeah, it would have been a lot cooler if we did that.
A little less stress, but no, we won, so that's all that matters.
What was it like trying to regroup after the review overturn?
I mean, you just kind of have to relax and, okay, so what, it's over.
He's going to get this guy right here,
and we're going to win right here.
And he did that.
He picked me up and shoved.
In the moment, did you feel like your foot came off the bag?
No.
I didn't even, I thought they were challenging the ball at first.
I didn't even think about it.
And then they went to second base and watched the video,
and I still thought my cleat was dragging the base.
I didn't think it was enough to overturn,
but there must have been a different camera angle
or something that I haven't seen.
But, no, we won.
That's all that matters.
It's very easy to estimate how many times you have run that exact rep,
whether it's drills, pre-games, whatever.
You have to be in the palace.
Yeah, and usually I do a good job of keeping my foot on.
I just pulled it off, I guess, trying to get rid of it so quick.
There's an alternate universe, a New York universe,
where a neighborhood play happens,
and that's not even remotely considered, right?
Like, as a shortstop now, given the way the video review works
and given how tight they are on those things,
is any part of that different, difficult, whatever?
I don't know.
I mean, they have probably 30 guys, 40 guys in there.
I mean, there's one game being played.
There's one baseball game being played right now,
so everyone's in there watching.
and uh yeah i just i don't know what does trevor mean
though that to you guys that he can shake
that off and come back and get the last no he's he's
a dog um i think he's he's been in situations
like that for he's a vet he's had situations like
that um and he knows he knows what he's doing
and he's he's a competitor man he knows how to compete
