6.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strike Atlantic Ridge June 17th 2026!

James Kaufman, World News Report, today. Ladies and gentlemen, just a few moments ago, we had a large 6.6 magnitude earthquake on the central mid-Atlantic ridge, right in between Africa and South America. That's a big quake. They don't know the depth. It's a very deep area of the ocean. They have it at a 10 kilometer, i.e., default depth currently. Let's see if we can find out any more information about this big blast. All right, well, it is on that central plate tectonic ridge, and there are no real nearby active volcanoes. Let's see if there's any volcanoes in that area whatsoever. And there is. It looks like it's actually right over one of them, which might mean we have another awakening volcano. How interesting. let's find some more information out about this we'll find some detailed information out right now again a 6.6 covered by the USGS default depth 10 kilometers also covered by Germany as a 6.5 default depth RaspberryShake at 6.5 I'm sure the USGS might downgrade it they usually do and this just occurred all right there she blows 43 minutes ago a 6.6 magnitude earthquake right there on the central mid-Atlantic ridge today Wednesday June 17th bam all right some earthquake details it was a big one 7.5 atomic bombs worth of energy released again a 6.6 default depth 10 kilometers 168 seismic stations felt this one only one person one report came in the nearest volcano is 30 miles away it looks like it's right on top of that volcano all right taking a look at volcano discoveries shake map here where did that one report come from why don't you oh here it is over here right there in brazil about magnitude 6.6 with one report uh quite away from the epicenter all right comparing earthquake data from different reporting agencies so far we don't have any aftershocks out there of any size usgs came in at 6.6 default depth we've got germany coming at 6.5 default depth i guess they're all going to be default depths Presbury Shale a 6.5 we've got australia coming at 6.6 the french coming in at 5.71 europeans at 6.6 all default depths and to finish it off they actually gave it a depth of 15 kilometers it's going to be a lot deeper than that a 6.4 the italians this is the strongest quake in that area in 10 years but a 7.0 came in right around there in 2016. all right no tsunami warning with it but i thought we'd take a look at the buoys in that area since it was such a large quake at 6.6 7.5 atomic bombs worth of energy released so it looks like uh no buoys are in event mode currently i did check it out it looks like there's been quite a few large quakes over the last 100 years in this area right here so this is not a huge abnormality and we did decide that there was several volcanoes that would be considered active in the area so a 6.6 central mid-atlantic ridge on the plate tectonic boundary at a default depth of 10 kilometers, God bless folks, please share, give Give us a thumbs up, really important to us, and remember that anything's possible, bizarro world.
