We're going to call this breaking news.
This is out of San Clemente,
where there are reports of a possible tornado.
This is video that we just got into our newsroom, courtesy
of Casey Montoya, who is a new colleague of ours here at Fox 11.
She's working weather as well as in here in the Fox Local Corner.
and this video shows damage to several trees
that are either snapped in half or completely
toppled over. Again,
this is a possible tornado in San Clemente that struck earlier today.
Casey has reached out to the National Weather Service
in San Diego. They said that they are
assessing this video. They're assessing some other pictures
of such damage to determine if this was
wind driven or if in fact a tornado did hit San Clemente
so we are working on that for you here
at Fox 11 and Fox Local Los Angeles again reports
of a possible tornado in San Clemente we can also
show you this image that was sent to us
and this is all courtesy of Casey Montoya you see uh little
kids out there and they are looking
at this tree presumably just stunned in awe because this is a
massive tree that was just completely taken out
by what could have been a tornado in San Clemente.
Again, we have reached out to the National Weather Service
in San Diego. They tell our Casey Montoya
that they are working to determine if, in fact, this was a tornado.
No word of any injuries,
but as you can see,
plenty of damaged trees there on this Thursday afternoon. And in fact,
we can take you live to San Clemente right now.
Let's do that. This is a live picture. We'd like
to show you this from time to time.
This is the beach camera from the city of San Clemente.
And yeah, you see just some of those waves rolling in,
not too breezy right now. So again,
the report of a possible tornado was from earlier today.
Most of or a lot of that system that we've
been following with the radar,
and we can give you a live look at the radar too, this just kind
of tracks the morning. And you're seeing,
if you look to the south, some of those spotty showers.
But again, interesting to note that there could have been a tornado
in San Clemente in Orange County a little earlier today.
Once we get word from the National Weather Service,
we will confirm one way or the other for you.
All right. We're going to step away for our next two minute break
and we'll have more for you right after this.
Stay with us.
