It's been 44 years since the Milwaukee Brewers made it
to the World Series and there they are
again. They take on the Tampa Bay Rays tonight
for game one in Milwaukee and from what I hear
that city is absolutely electric with excitement about this game.
Joining us now is Hunter Quinn.
He lives in the Twin Cities
but he's driven out to Milwaukee for this game. Hi Hunter. Hi Courtney,
How are you? I'm great. So it's my understanding
that you got to town last night. So you've kind
of got a pulse on the city right now.
I mean, tell me what it's like in Milwaukee right now.
I have to imagine it's just insane.
I think what we're preparing for here is
utter pandemonium.
I think this is a perfect storm of several things. One, it is Friday
afternoon. It's 70 and sunny outside.
I'm sure you can see that. It is Friday. Everybody has
taken the day off everybody is ready to go uh
the parking lot opens at three o'clock that's four
hours of tailgating and pre-gaming
which is maybe scary uh for some people but that is what we're
preparing for for the brewers and rays game one
and also we do have the best pitcher in baseball
on the mound tonight um this is where i grew up i spent
the first 18 years of my life uh
rooting on the Brewers. This is 44 years in the making.
This is Bob Uecker. This is Robin Yount
and Jim Gantner and Paul Molitor.
And this is years and years of suffering through October
disappointment. But here we are.
We finally made it to the World Series and we are ready to
celebrate Friday and Saturday games one and two.
It could be insane. I am ready for it and I cannot
wait. My parents are ready to drive us down to the stadium
and ready to just soak it all in.
I love it. You've got a parent Uber. That's great.
Yes, that is a good designated driver.
That's definitely a good thing for tonight.
Yeah, I'm curious. I've seen that ticket prices are absolutely crazy.
There was a report
out that average ticket prices for this World Series
are more than the Super Bowl this past year.
So how did you score tickets?
My parents decided during game three of the NLCS against
the Dodgers that the Brewers were definitely going to make it.
They don't believe in jinxes,
so they went ahead and I think they just bought them on StubHub.
They will not tell me how much money they spent on it,
which means it's absurd.
I think that people here have been long suffering.
44 years is a long time to save up some money.
They are spending like crazy in Wisconsin, and not only ticket prices,
but I can't wait to see how much a summer shanty is at the stadium.
My sister tried to go out today
and buy some brewer's gear for her boys,
and there's nothing left.
People have been storing their Kohl's cash
for years just for an occasion like this.
It's insane.
So we can't find any more brewer's gear.
I was lucky enough to get this for my birthday.
It's the Brat Life Chose Me.
That's a tailgating shirt.
But I've actually got, if you want to help me pick out
my Brewer's outfit, I have several options.
Let's do it.
I've got the jersey.
This is no name on the back
because I don't want to jinx a player to get further.
Classic option.
Classic option.
I've got, this is the oldest hoodie that I've got.
this is hoodie number one. Vintage option.
This is a newer hoodie.
Like I said, my mom stores Kohl's cash like it's her job.
That's a new one. Like a true Wisconsinite.
Yep, and then this is the new one that I got
because I don't have enough.
I've got this one that I got literally last night.
We went out to dinner and it's absolutely
electric. Okay, so I gotta put my vote in here.
Yeah, which one do you want?
I'm leaning towards the classic jersey or the vintage sweatshirt.
Okay, so- I've narrowed it down to two.
Yeah, so this is what I was thinking.
I was thinking long sleeve underneath
this because it's 70 right now, but
it's about 58 for game time temperature, like first pitch 78.
And then we've got this one, which honestly,
I might just go jersey with the sweatshirt over top, is that too weird?
No. I think that might be the good idea.
Listen, this is the Midwest in mid-October,
you gotta be ready for climate changes, so.
We're good with layers, right? Right.
And it's supposed to, I believe what I heard was the roof,
it's a retractable roof.
And so they may close it either right before game time
or in the middle of the game. So we
gotta be prepared for everything. That's what I heard too. I heard
that they were planning on having a closed roof game.
Now, and I wanted to ask you as a fan
who's been to this field before,
do you think that having the roof open and having to make
these Tampa Bay players play in you know colder temperatures benefits you?
Or does it benefit
you to close the roof and make the place super loud?
By the way, there's a live picture right now
of American Family Field. I think you've hit on something really,
really important. The volume that is going
to be in this stadium from literally when they have the
Local favorites, Violent Femmes, are going to play on the field at 4:45.
That's more than two hours before game time.
It's going to be insanely loud.
It is going to be, and I'm not kidding.
Like, I've been to a U.S. Bank Stadium Vikings-Packers game.
That is maybe the loudest I've ever heard any stadium.
This might compare to it on a smaller scale
because there's only 40-something thousand fans.
But this is going to be loud from the first pitch.
and they're going to go nuts for the national anthem.
They're going to go nuts
for literally whoever wins the hidden ball game.
They're going to go nuts for that.
It is, the beer is going to be flowing.
They are going to be having old fashions left, right and center.
It's going to be absolutely insane.
And hopefully we come away with a game one win.
So what's it mean to you to be there
at game one as a lifelong Brewers fan?
uh i gotta be honest it's it's kind of surreal uh i know
that there are a lot of long-suffering
Vikings and uh Wild and even the Twins it's
been 30 something years for the Twins um it's insane
to be i'm 44 years old i have i was months old
when they made the uh the World Series last time
um to go through all of the the long years of the 90s
and 2000s and then to be so close
up until the last five years they have been right there um to win
and to sweep the Dodgers which is
extra sweet um to sweep the Dodgers
and to make it to the World Series i i was like in a euphoric
state for days. And I'm still,
I can't believe I'm going to what I still call Miller Park
to go watch the Brewers in the World Series.
It's so surreal to me. And I am so thrilled
that my parents decided to spend some of my inheritance
and go to the game.
This is a once, this might be, I hope not,
but I think this might be a once in a lifetime
opportunity. It's better than spending
your inheritance at the casino in Vegas. So
it's memories made. Yeah, absolutely.
And I think this is well worth it. This is a trip of a
lifetime. Even though I grew up here
and I come down here several times a year, it's what I've
been waiting for, for literally for decades.
So I'm excited. You put such a big smile on my face.
I can't imagine being a lifelong Brewers fan
and being in this position. So I'm super excited
for Milwaukee, for Brewers fans, so cool.
Gotta end it with, what are your predictions for how
this series ends? I mean, do you think they're gonna sweep?
Do you think it's gonna be four and
two? You think it's gonna be closer than that?
What do you think? I honestly just know the nuts
and bolts about the Rays, that they have
the best American League record and that they have a really
solid pitching staff and they have a couple of really big hitters.
I think that our pitching
is going to do better i think it's going to be a lot
of you know three two and three one and four
two games but i think that we win in five i would love
to see them clinch a world series at home uh
maybe in game five maybe in game six uh
but i would i mean that would be insane for us to win
a world series and you got to be on it like i can't i can't let
this end without saying it's
It's Bob Uecker controlling the whole thing.
He's writing the script, and he's looking down,
and he's hoping for a big Brewers win tonight.
I really, really hope you're right.
I hope so, too.
Hunter Quinn, thanks so much for joining us.
Have so much fun at the game tonight.
Thanks, Courtney.
I'll send you some pictures, okay?
All right, sounds good.
Bye-bye.
Perfect.
Okay, so we have been asking you guys to chime in,
fox9.com slash all day.
We want to hear from you.
Tell us who you think's going to win.
What's your World Series prediction?
21% thinks the Brewers are gonna sweep.
The more realistic 27% thinks it's gonna be a 4-2 win.
The last time that a Major League Baseball team swept
in the World Series was in 2012
when my San Francisco Giants swept the Detroit Tigers.
But the Yankees have done it eight times,
19 times it's happened in MLB history.
So hey, it's out there for the Brewers to take.
Let's see if they can do it. We start with tonight.
First pitch is at 7pm at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
It's gonna be an exciting one.
