AI GeneratedCongresswoman Ilhan Omar is facing allegations from federal prosecutors and President Trump regarding the authenticity of her name, leading to calls for her resignation. Separately, Cedric Frazier, a candidate for Hennepin County attorney, outlined his campaign priorities focusing on victim support, youth rehabilitation, and combating wage theft.
Another top story tonight. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar tells Fox 9
that Ilhan Omar is in fact her real name.
But federal prosecutors disagree.
And President Trump is now calling on her to resign.
Fox 9's Mike Manzoni is following the developments on this one.
And Mike, the congresswoman was a no-show at a news conference today.
Yeah, Karen, she had planned on speaking outside the Hennepin
County Elections Office with Attorney General Keith Ellison,
but she skipped that event, though she did cast her early ballot there.
and this is what she told our Corinne Hogard about her name.
And we tracked down Omar's junior year class photo
from Edison High School in Minneapolis.
Her yearbook listed her name as Ilhan Omar.
Meanwhile, at a campaign rally in Iowa today,
President Trump used the headlines
about Omar's name to gin up the crowd.
That her name is not Ilhan Omar,
the one that she used to get elected and sworn into Congress.
In other words, she used the name Ilhan Omar,
but rather it's an entirely different name.
Iran, Noor, Syed, Albi.
She used a fake name to be sworn in.
I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress.
Now, when asked whether she once married her own brother,
she responded, and I'm quoting here,
not to my knowledge, that was during
a sit-down interview earlier this week with one of the networks.
And that answer quickly grabbed national attention,
including from the president,
who said it was one of the worst responses that he's ever heard.
Karen. All right. And you'll continue to follow this for us.
Thank you, Mike. As Election Day gets closer, we've started
a series on All Day Live called Conversations with Candidates.
Fox 9 has invited candidates from major statewide races
and the Hennepin County attorney.
Today, Cedric Frazier, who is running for Hennepin County attorney,
joined us for 10 minutes.
Here's part of that conversation with Rob Olson.
I'm going to be focused on a Victim
and Survivors Advisory Board to make sure we're having
that input that's necessary to create policies and craft
and make sure we implement practices that are working for everyone.
We're going to look for more resources for our youth
so when they make some bad decisions, we can have the resources
to intervene, have accountability, but importantly, rehabilitation.
We want to make sure we focus on prevention
because the best type of thing is when a crime never happens,
the harm never happens to communities.
And I know what that's like.
I know what it's like to be a victim.
I know what it's like to not feel safe
and like the systems aren't protecting you.
But we're going to focus heavily on that.
We're also going to treat wage theft like the crime that it is.
And here's why that's important.
We have a lot of working families in this community.
They out, by a wide majority,
outweigh anyone else that are voters in this community.
And when you have someone that's working hard, maybe two or three jobs,
to make the ends meet and they're earning that money,
but they're not being paid by a bad-acting employer,
that destabilizes families and then destabilizes communities
and it leads to public safety issues.
Frazier is running against Anders Folk.
He joined us the other day to watch that conversation.
