You've got a team that's ranked 17th to start the season.
Granted, a lot of talent.
I think everybody recognizes that in a lot of places.
When you started losing games, did you have
to do anything different with these guys
so that they just didn't lose it?
I mean, because they had
so much to begin with as far as image and potential.
Yeah.
No.
We don't really – we didn't rank us 17th.
We didn't talk about, you know, the fact that,
you know, we're sitting here as, you know,
a lot of these guys have never played football before.
We're ranked on, you know, I guess, I don't know,
high school rankings or, you know, the fact that we ended last season
at nine and four with a completely different team.
And while I appreciated the rankings, I think that it comes down
to our guys just felt like, how do we handle each week?
How do we get better each week?
and you know we had a couple games that didn't go
our way that certainly could have and um they just
didn't you know you lose a game by three you lose
a game by four you lose a game when you have the
ball inside the 12 at the end of the game you turn
the ball over inside the 10 in the game and um
next thing you know instead of sitting here you know
in a spot where you know you're talking about
you know six and one season you're looking at a four
and three record but um that being the case
our guys just look at each week as its own week
and we just say like hey we went out on the road
against a team that just won two in a row
and we won the game and we believed in one another um
you know we believe in the mission and um you know that's
who we are and get better and then
next week we're going to go on the road again
in an extremely hostile environment in front of a
sold out whatever 90 some thousand people
and we got to believe in the mission and we got to play
our best football and then we're going to do it again at home
and again on the road and then again
at home and then again on the road the rest of the way
but we're just going to focus in on this game
this team and we know inside these walls
that what we're building is we're building it our way
which is young players through experience learning how
to become champions and I think that we took
a nice step on Saturday
and now we have an enormous challenge a week from Saturday.
