AI GeneratedThe Dallas Police Association is questioning why Allison Hudson, the department's assistant director of media relations, remains on duty while under internal investigation. The dispute centers on allegations that Hudson, a civilian employee, unauthorizedly used a department vehicle with lights and sirens, leading to claims of preferential treatment for executive staff.
Rank and file members of the Dallas Police Department
are concerned that a civilian
employee who is under internal investigation may
be getting preferential treatment. The Dallas
Police Association now demanding answers as to why Allison Hudson,
the assistant director of
media relations, has not been placed on administrative leave.
A citizen complaint
was filed in August, claiming she used
a department-issued vehicle with lights and
sirens, which is not allowed.
Fox 4's David Santendri, live with the latest on this story.
David. Yeah, the department says the investigation
was supposed to be confidential until complete.
The police union believes at some point in time,
there may have been preferential treatment.
This should have been something that literally was just handled,
but handled properly and taken care of.
Dallas Police Association President Sean Pease,
talking about an investigation
into Dallas Police Department's top spokesperson,
Allison Hudson. It comes down to a trust issue.
Hudson regularly conducts interviews as assistant
director of media relations.
In full transparency, Fox 4 reporters maintain a working relationship
with Hudson. She's now under investigation
by the agency's public integrity unit. Hudson reports
directly to Chief Daniel Como,
who would not comment on details of the investigation last week.
Nothing else at this time, but once we can speak about it, we will.
A source tells Fox 4 it might
be related to a citizen complaint filed in August.
Hudson may have used a department vehicle with
lights and sirens, even
though she's not authorized to because she's a civilian employee.
Civilian employees do not have the legal authority of a police officer
and do not carry a firearm or
badge. But this is something that I literally had
so many people upset about, all the way from
command staff down to the youngest officer in the department,
just very concerned about the way
it appears to be handled.
The union president met with Chief Como about the issue. A statement
posted to the union's Facebook page claims the chief said,
I was told it was the only vehicle
available. He told me investigation is ongoing
and any wrongdoing will be handled appropriately.
At a city council meeting Wednesday,
Hudson helped honor a group of students in the department's
Explorer program. There were people
in that city council chamber that reached out to me that were
concerned. The concern is that Hudson is not on administrative leave
while under investigation.
It appears to be handled different
because of an executive level position as compared to the rank
and file. The department, however,
says it is not department practice to place an employee on
administrative leave solely because a complaint was made.
We just need this to be handled properly.
we really do. I reached out directly to Hudson this afternoon,
but at this point in time have
not heard back. Steve, Heather. All right. Davidson Tendry. Thank you.
