Everything Spins In Our Universe But Not Like Sunspot AR 4482!

Planet spin, moon spins, stars spin. Is it any surprise that sunspots also spin? This photo captures the phenomena taken last week when sunspot AR-4482 pinwheeled across the solar disk. To me, this looks like, well, opposite of clockwise, right? Astronomers have reported these motions since 1910. One large survey in 2008 identified 186 spinning sunspots in a one-year period. Most turn only a few degrees per hour, but AR-4482 appears to be a rapid rotator that parts the sunspot, completing a full turn in only a day or two. Sunspot spin is a sign of tension beneath the surface of the sun. Imagine twisting a rubber band until it becomes very tight, and then it lets go. The rubber band explodes and, well, unwinds, releasing its tension. The magnetic fields underneath AR-4482 were twisting like that rubber band, storing potential energy for an extremely strong X-Flare, but we haven't seen that to date. God bless, folks. That is a spin, right? Please give us a thumbs up and share, and also remember that anything's possible in Bizarre World.
