This is becoming a HUGE problem...
Oct 23, 2026
This is becoming a huge problem for the San Jose Sharks
as they can't get any scoring besides
Macklin Celebrini as he keeps putting up multi-goal performances,
multi-point performances,
but keeps getting left by the wayside by his other teammates
who can't put goals in the back of the
net. In this video, we're going
to break down everything about Macklin Celebrini's early
success and some players that need to keep producing
for this team to be successful this
year you're not going to miss this episode
of sharks digest for diving everything here just
want to say we're on the road for 4,000 subscribers on the channel
so if you're new here you want to
stay up to date on the latest news around the San Jose
Sharks we're home for it here on YouTube
also we will be live again tomorrow night uh
for the watch along against the Ottawa Senators that
will be a fun one as well so let's dive
into it here guys first we got to talk about the main guy
and that's that that's Macklin Celebrini, Macklin Celebrini has
been so good here to start the
year for the San Jose Sharks I mean the numbers
are there right we just got to take a look at
this list because the numbers here are crazy look see
the goals for when Celebrini is on the ice
50% when he's off only 30%
so half the time Celebrini is on the ice a goal is going to
happen that's a crazy stat and 33%
when he's off is not good those numbers need to come up we see
an expected goal percentage when he's on the ice at 50% as well 37%
when off the ice then his shot
attempts 56% when he's on the ice
and 43 just you see in the numbers here that everything is being
produced by Macklin Celebrini
and we need other players to step up on the other lines to help this
offense go even further than what it can
be we've seen some instances of this in the last game but
we need to keep it going if we want to win games here
and then we can't just be doing it late in
games uh you know when we're down
so let's talk about that but seeing Celebrini's averaging a lot
of ice time for Ford he's got 23 minutes on ice a night right now
and has been a reason to the
Sharks obviously uh early success here obviously he
was a driver in the comeback win just last
just last night or the night before if you're watching
this the next day but yeah it's great
to see him uh you know obviously take this role
and Ryan Toskala said we're not scoring right now
we're getting some good looks though
so basically saying yeah we're we're making the chances we're
getting the good looks but we're just not scoring
and you need the puck to go into the back of the
net if you want to win hockey games
and if you want to be a playoff team i think last game against
Montreal this team really showed a lot of heart
that they can battle back and that's something
that we can carry in momentum going forward
and I think it's really going to help a lot of these
guys start to get going
and you know get get kicked in the gear here because we need a lot
of these guys on the second
and third line creating offense like Macklin Celebrini and
getting these numbers of when he's off the ice
at 30% up to near the 50% number as well because
that's just what we need at this point
and obviously someone needs to step up generate
chances when Celebrini's there to create
a second reliable scoring line because right now we really
don't have any you know it's random guys
and you know every now and then like was Meza last
last game right and with Sherwood to Meza
but you know you never know who's going to create
offense you need someone to be to be solid here on this line
and last game was the first time we
seen the Stenberg Meza and Sherwood line connect all season
so hopefully that's a sign of things
to come going forward.
Another guy who needs to step up here is Will Smith.
He needs to drive more offense.
I know a lot of chances he's had this season.
He's been shooting the puck well,
but just hasn't found the back of the net.
Seeing his shots have gone up,
he's gotten more confident over his last five games,
averaging about four shots a game here now.
So that's great.
So hopefully we can see him carrying that momentum
going forward for this team.
Looking at his finishing right now,
it's below what we expected.
His goals are below, his shooting percentage is below.
So we need to get that up for Will Smith
to start having a good season here for us
and start, you know, obviously helping us going forward.
And since playing with Chernyshov and Celebrini, of course,
the goals for against goals against have been better.
The three goals for, two goals against at this point.
So that's great.
You know, we see these guys have improvements
with a new player on their line.
You see it compared to Marchment.
They were only one goal for and three against.
So this line has been better.
And as they play more together and build more chemistry,
I have no doubt in my mind that Will Smith
will be a great player here this season
and will step up and score a lot of goals here this season
because the shot's been there.
He's just really not finding the back of the net
on some of these shots where he should be scoring.
And, you know, we've got to drive another threat.
Attack dangerous, ice more often.
Create chances instead of waiting for Mack
and keep productive shifts going beyond the special teams.
I feel like we have seen some solid games from Will Smith.
It's just we just need him to start being a more consistent scorer
like Celebrini because we can't just have him being the backpack
and, you know, putting us all on his back
and carrying us all season long like he did last year.
We need guys to step up and fill the roles that Celebrini,
you know, is doing right now.
Obviously, you don't need to be a 100-point player,
but if you can step up and be an 80-point player this year,
a 90-point player for this team, Will Smith,
I definitely think that will be a good year for us.
But Tyler Toffoli must sustain his support as well.
If we kind of look at the breakdown between Toffoli
and Marchment right now, the two veteran guys,
Toffoli's beating them at points a game,
shots a game, points per 60, and goals a game.
Their goals a game, they're tied at this point.
So, you know, we kind of just need a little bit more from Marchment,
I think, from what we've seen from obviously he scored
in the last game, which was great to see.
So hopefully that creates some momentum for going forward
because, you know, after that first,
he scored in the first goal of the game that went on a big drought,
but he's been picking it up, you know, in the last couple of games.
Hopefully we can see that coming forward.
And Tyler Toffoli, I think, has
been our best secondary scoring piece off the top line all season long.
So we need our younger guys to step up,
help these veterans out in time of need.
And looking at Toffoli's chart, he's above average right now
for goals and shooting percentage as well.
Same with Marchman.
So we just kind of need these younger guys to step up right now
and really help us out because we're going to need it.
Going down the stretch here, trying to make the playoffs.
And obviously, we're still battling here early on
to try to get our first regulation win for us.
And hopefully that will come tomorrow night.
So we'll see Toffoli touches in scoring area,
use Marchman around the crease, generate offense beyond celebrating.
We just need this third line of Marchman, Toffoli,
uh and Wemberg uh to be good obviously it was crap last game
because Wemberg was out due to
injury but i do like what i've seen out
of this veteran third line to be honest or second line i
guess whatever line we're calling it
but i do think i i really do like this line and i think
we're going to see a lot of offense through
these guys i think they finally found out what line
combinations work it's just building that chemistry
and getting better game in and game out michael
Misa must build on his first goal right we we had
a slow start to the year but now he gets his first
goal ties the game up in a crucial point against Montreal
which led us going to overtime which is
great and we ended up winning that one in overtime
which is great but celebrate what Misa right now
four points one goal three assists
so hopefully we can see him build on this we'd like to see him
have a way better season than he did last year he's building
on it right now so hopefully we can
see him come out next game get another couple points up on the board
and really you know cement
himself as a great second line center for this team
or even third line center whatever we saw
He's got him shifted at right now.
But I do think that, you know, obviously this line, like I said,
Stenberg, Misa, and Sherwood has the makings of a great line.
Sherwood's looking really great with the young guys,
and I definitely think they're going to build on something.
As soon as they get some chemistry down, Stenberg, Misa, and Sherwood
are going to have big seasons for us.
It's just a problem right now.
Right through the first couple of games,
we've been relying on Celebrini heavily
like we did last year.
The guys just need to pick it up,
take a little bit of the load off Celebrini,
and we'll start winning more games going further.
me right now Misa below average
though below average while we expected him in the
shooting percentage and his goal total
so hopefully we can see him pick that up and looking at the
Sherwood Stenberg line we see like their one goal
for four goals against which isn't great but like
I said the chemistry that these guys have right now it's going
to lead to success going further
so I don't really want to read into this on this line
because I really like it and I think it's
going to be a successful one for us going forward
but I want to hear your guys thoughts down below
in the comments section who do you think is going to step up for us
who's going to be the secondary guy
this year it's going to be uh it's going
to be Will Smith is going to be the veteran kind of
scores do you think they're going to kind of pick up
the slack this year or do you think it's going to
be the young guys like Mesa uh
and Stenberg as well let me know what you guys are thinking down
below love to hear all your guys thoughts
and everything we talked about today but yeah it's
a big problem hopefully it'll be fixed going forward
and like i said we'll be back live
tomorrow night with another watch long stream against
the Ottawa Senators it's gonna be really
fun to watch with you guys so if you enjoyed it leave
a like subscribe and channel as always
i've been host KC you're still gonna get it
