Tell me all about all of these food experiences
that you are getting to have today.
Well, I'm waiting to talk to the chef who created this,
but he's doing an interview right now.
So why don't I just take you into the food line here
and show you what we got.
They're not having a hard time having media members get samples.
So let's start with the Thai elote dog.
I'm not enough of a foodie to describe exactly
what makes everything the way they are,
but I've had that. That's my favorite so far.
Come on down. We have a, yeah, we have a walk-off
burger, which they appear to have put a tater tot
on top of the ground beef. That has been amazing.
And then, do you like crab rangoon, Haley?
I love it. Okay, well, you're not going to get that
because this is Milwaukee in the World Series,
so you're going to get a brat rangoon. Also fabulous.
And then we're going to finish off dessert with a little monkey bread,
which I'm not going to eat on air, but I tried it.
It's fantastic.
So any questions about any of these I can answer with the chef,
but everybody's, they're just lining up.
Members of the media are just devouring them here.
My favorite, and I'm trying to stay out of people's way
because they want to eat and I want to stay close enough
to grab the chef who can tell us about the creations.
But you can see they're just bringing in Jake.
show the it's like a restaurant at happy hour here
and they're just bringing food after food
after bite-sized food and these are all different uh items
that people can get so um i'm willing to
try anything again if you'd like me to i will take that for the team
or you can just ask me
questions whatever you want to do oh my goodness ted perry
a man of the people here willing to do
a taste test i think i would love to see you try
that what would you say sausage ring
Oh, the brat rangoon.
Yeah, let's do it.
Yeah, let's do it.
So I'm going to take a bite into that.
I'm going to show it to you first of all.
And I don't know what makes a rangoon a rangoon, so bear with me.
And I know rule number one, don't eat on TV.
They didn't say anything about not eating on streaming.
Oh, yeah.
That is fantastic.
Oh, we got the chef over here.
This is so unprofessional.
Chef, you got a sec?
Come on over. We're live. I'm devouring a brat rangoon.
Chef Alex, say your last name for us.
Barranjo.
Barranjo. You're the executive chef for Delaware North.
You had a challenge. Come up with a World Series menu.
How much sleep did you lose over this,
and what did you finally come up with?
Well, I don't think we've slept much at all
the last few weeks, but we're very excited.
You know, we know it's the World Stage here right now,
and we came up with a bunch of dishes.
the chef team got together
and just wanted to come up with an array of items that any guest
here that comes is going to find something they enjoy.
Can you take us down the line? Can we start
with the Thai elote hot dog? Am I saying that right?
Elote hot dog? Yeah, Thai elote. What makes
a hot dog an elote? So we do like a corn elote mixture
for the top of it and then we also did
like a Thai chili sauce to just kind of do like a fusion
and then also have that hot dog element
that's classic ballpark. Okay, as we go down,
we have here the walk-off burger, and if I'm right,
what you've done is you've taken a burger
and you've put bacon and a tater tot on it. Yeah,
it's like a hash brown. It's almost kind of like
a breakfast burger. I know everyone who doesn't
like breakfast for dinner, too, right? Exactly.
Just a great concept that, you know, we did with
our partners at Black Shoe Hospitality.
Okay, that's ingenious. Why are we just getting this
for the World Series.
I'm not sure.
A brat rangoon.
I've heard of crab rangoon.
You just take out the crab and put in the brat.
What makes a rangoon a rangoon?
So it's the mixture, you know, the shrimp.
Everyone knows it as shrimp rangoon,
but that, like, cream cheese mixture has a distinct flavor
with the onion and everything.
You know, we thought we'd try it, but how about the brat?
You know, what's more Wisconsin than a brat?
And it worked.
Everyone loved it.
And then instead of, like, a sweet and sour sauce,
we incorporated, like, a sweet and sour mustard sauce,
You know, bring that mustard, German, Milwaukee kind of flavor.
I've had to have three to decide if it's perfect, and it's perfect.
And then finish it off with a little monkey bread.
What's the deal here?
This is not new.
No, so this we've been doing every round,
and we've kept it because it's been so great.
So it's a fresh dough tossed in butter, cinnamon,
sugar, and we put it in a pan with some caramel.
It gets baked, flip it over,
and it's just this beautiful caramel glaze on top of it.
It really works.
Why, where can I get these?
If I'm coming tomorrow or Saturday as a fan,
this isn't for the club-level suites only, right?
No, so Monkey Bread is actually, it's on Loge level.
It's one area around Section 216, I believe.
And then the Brat Rangoon is also on Loge level on each side.
The Walk-Off Burger will be available
at the burger stands on field level in each ward,
first base and third base.
And the Thai Lot Dog will be available at our Top Dog stand.
You're proud of these creations.
You're proud of what your team's put together.
Oh, I'm very proud, very proud of the team.
We've been working really hard.
Lifelong Brewer fan, born and raised in Wisconsin.
I'm so excited.
What pressure was on you?
I mean, was it from fans?
Was it from media?
Was it from higher-ups here?
Who said, Alex, you need to hit a grand slam, pal?
I mean, there's always, you know, pressure from the fans,
especially nowadays with social media.
People are doing new stuff all the time.
you got to keep up and you got to make sure that you stay relevant
and have fun stuff so um you
know really as chefs that's what we strive to do all
the time um you know we like to create but
you know we bring the whole team together
when we're doing this like not just the chefs so we
have a really fun time coming up with menu items what idea
was thrown out oh that list is too long
all right is there anything else we're
missing there's something on the other side
I will say the coolest thing over here.
We're very mobile.
I have a very athletic photojournalist in Jake.
You like that, Jake?
I called you athletic.
Yeah, I do.
Okay, he does like that.
So at the Supper Club stand this year, for World Series,
we're going to have a chef there carving prime rib.
Anyone from Wisconsin that eats meat has had Saturday prime rib before.
And it's a Saturday game.
Yeah.
Is it for both nights?
Yeah, we are doing it both nights.
Okay.
Take me down here.
This is all in the Supper Club?
No, this is Supper Club.
Supper club here, prime rib, beef wellington.
Beef wellington on club level at the Carvery stand.
Okay.
You can't take this back to your seat, right?
This is not meant to go back to your seat, is it?
So we did it.
The beef wellington we did on club because there are high-top tables.
You should be able to.
The prime rib is we're going to slice it
so it's a little easier to eat.
So it will be sliced.
Okay.
The walk-off burger, which we mentioned.
We've only seen bits of it.
And then this is the monkey bread.
That's the portion size.
Okay.
And in case Fred Flintstone is coming, we have the dino rib.
Yeah, so one of our partners this year that we're new this year,
K&L Barbecue, is doing this dino rib, which has been fantastic.
Everyone loves it. It's so good.
And that's available at the new food truck park on Los Alamos.
Is one person supposed to do this,
or is this like bring your buddies and share?
If you want to try to do it by yourself, you could.
Are the drinks new? Let's start with the slugger. What's in here?
I got to be honest, the drinks, I don't know what's in there.
Our pumpkin spice Russian.
I imagine there's some vodka of some sort in there.
Worth the wait Kölsch.
That's a type of beer.
The bobber we've had.
This is the old-fashioned.
This is the bobber, yeah, we've had all year.
So this is kind of our signature brand, you know,
brandy old-fashioned in this awesome glass that you're using.
I'm loving it all, but for some reason
this Thai elote dog is really working for me.
Why is that?
Like I said, we taste through a lot of options.
A lot of things didn't work, but this one just,
it just kind of works together, and everyone liked it.
and we just crowdsource it until we find something that,
wow, this really works together.
I know most fans want this to be over in four games,
but you probably want it to go to seven.
You've got a lot to show off, and you want
different audiences to come in and sample this.
Honestly, it can go as long as it wants, as long as the burgers win.
Alex, I know you're busy. Thanks for your time.
And thanks for really putting your blood,
sweat, and tears into this thing
because I know it's important to you as a lifelong Milwaukeean.
So, guys, there it is, the chef here taking us through the list.
I will go through again.
If you need me to, I will go through again.
item by item
but I'm going
to need a minute
to do that let's
go let's go look
at that beef Wellington again it looks
delish right it looks like we got some
kale in here and some beets which is good for blood flow because you're
heart will be pumping and um i don't know if that's a white squash
or what but uh yeah the
chef's busy with another interview i don't want to bother him
but that's definitely some kale down
there so uh i never thought i'd say let's go to the ball game
and get some kale but here we are
the prime rib of course served as prime rib should
be side of mashed potatoes and that's
what it looks like all day.
No, you can't do that.
You can...
Oh, let her eat it.
Let her eat it.
We see it.
We see it.
Everybody's...
You know, the international media here is here, Haley.
So we're really saying to the world,
this is Wisconsin, this is what we eat.
So there's a lot of pressure on the chef
and on the Delaware North team here to represent.
I'm going to stand over here
and get out of the way a little bit.
Jake, if you could just back up so we can let people keep eating.
Haley, go ahead.
I'm sorry, did I cut you off?
You did not cut me off, not whatsoever, Ted.
But you're right, I'm excited for all
of these fans, maybe from Tampa Bay,
coming into Milwaukee, getting to experience American Family Field,
experience what Milwaukee has to offer.
And I really think, you know,
learn more about the heart behind this team.
So if I can, I wanted to ask you,
I know you were in the media availability
when Jacob Mizell was up there, and you asked him about Samson,
who, of course, is the fan that you got
to chat with after Game 4 of the NLCS,
who has since been gifted tickets to the World Series.
But he talked about what that moment means
for him being kind of a role model
and being a favorite because Samson mentioned Jackson Chourio
and Jacob Mizell as his favorite players.
and Ted I feel like all of us have seen
that clip we get choked up you got choked up in the moment
and it felt like so did
the Miz today Haley I think you're exactly right I I've never talked
to Jacob Mizell before you know he I we have kind
of a rule here at Fox 6 you know the sports
people talk to the athletes and I'm here to talk to fans
and the flavor and but I was in there
because I did specifically want to ask him if he had seen the clip.
And I don't know why I'm surprised that he did, but he did see it.
And it did move him.
You could tell.
He paused for a second as if to say,
I don't know what more I can say except for the beauty of that moment.
And I didn't get to ask a follow-up question,
but I think he'd be pleased.
That's okay.
We're live TV, baby.
That's the way it works, all right?
You were out, by the way.
My guy made the tag.
So way to stand on.
You know, you're not going to run Jake off the bag, you know, come on.
Anyway, back to Miz.
I think he was genuinely touched.
And I didn't get a chance to follow up to say,
do you know that he's coming to game two?
I didn't want to put him on the spot and, you know,
ask him to do anything for the young man.
That's not my place to do that.
But I think Samson is this young man's name
from outside of Minneapolis.
They're coming down tonight.
Yeah, they're coming tonight
because they're going to go to a Bucks game on Friday.
No, they're driving early tomorrow.
Going to make it in time for that 3
o'clock Bucks tip, which was moved up
because they know fans are going to want to watch the World Series.
And then on Saturday, he's going to meet up at the tailgate
with the two gentlemen who bought him the tickets.
Our Ben Hanson did a story on those guys.
Check them out on Fox 6 Local right now on foxlocal.com.
And you can see these guys who stepped up to the plate, pun intended,
and really you're going to make a 13-year-old boy
and his father, David, very happy.
So, yeah, I'm glad I asked Miz that question,
and I was touched at his response as well.
Yes, it's just, I've said it
so much throughout this World Series coverage,
but it's just that reminder that this is about
so much more than baseball.
It's these human moments
and the best of humanity just shining through so far
as we get ready for Game 1 tomorrow.
So, Ted, we really appreciate you joining us here on Fox 6 Now.
I'm sure that you are hungry
and you are ready to chow down on all these World Series menu items.
I can't possibly be hungry.
I've sampled everything three times.
There's no way I'm possibly hungry.
Stop bragging.
I'm just kidding, Ted.
We are all very appreciative of all you've done this postseason,
and you deserve a fun assignment today getting
to taste test all of that food.
Again, Ted Perry there joining us 6 Now.
We'll
be
right
back.
