There's always something to talk about with TMZ. Today, we are talking about Krista Pike. You may remember we told you about that botched execution. Also, an update with the Halle Berry court hearing. TMZ's Branson Quirk, live in Los Angeles. Branson, first, let's talk about Krista Pike. Sure thing. I mean, you just mentioned that brutal execution that was failed. Now, all executions going forward have been paused by the governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee. to review exactly what happened and what led us here now we do have an update for you on Krista Pike's recovery after this failed execution as we know she was in the hospital for some time and then has now officially returned to prison where she continues to receive medical care her lawyer says that right now doctors are trying to determine what the long-term cognitive effects will be also we know that she's improved physically she's able to walk on her own now speech is improved clear communication and now able to actually speak full sentences because she had been dealing with cognitive issues since she actually woke up in the hospital so yeah like i said Bill Lee has paused any executions going forward and we also know that her her legal team is asking for Bill Lee to commute her sentence essentially asking for her sentence to be changed from uh the death penalty to life in prison without the possibility of parole yeah this incident leaves a lot up in the air specifically with her of what happens with her now and you just said her team's trying to basically just say hey let her let her just have life and and not the death penalty we last week i believe talked about Halle Berry i know her son being able to testify what's new in that case right it's been a very nasty custody battle between Halle Berry and her ex Olivia Martinez uh over their son Maceo a 13 year old son and what happened was there was allegations by Olivia Martinez who said that Halle Berry had put their son Maceo in a chokehold over a scuffle about uh allegedly video games in which Maceo was wearing a VR headset, playing this game. Halle Berry wanted him off the game and things led to another. She allegedly put her arm around his neck and choked him is what's being said. So he filed for a temporary restraining order in which he was actually granted and then wanted to actually get sole custody now of the son. So they've been in court and Maceo was in court as well testifying for the better part of Monday and Halle Berry herself. She did not want the son to be testifying because his account could not be credible. She said that he likes to shift responsibility away from himself, which could be a problem because, like I said, his account could not potentially be credible. So she wants everything to go back to the way it used to be 50-50. She's denied these allegations, saying that she is a domestic violence survivor and is not someone that would ever do something like this. Branson, is there any indication of how long this hearing will go there is no indication it's been going on all week since Monday today was day three and i'll tell you this uh there was a report about Olivier Martinez that he had actually stormed out allegedly from the courtroom his lawyers denying that saying that it was a bathroom break that he was taking uh some people said that he stormed out and that he was upset with the way that the hearing was going but we're told by the lawyer that Olivier is actually very happy with the way the proceedings are going but we'll have to see what the outcome is hopefully it's the best outcome for the son for Maceo the 13 year old man we'll have to see how that plays out Branson Quirk live in Los Angeles for TMZ thanks man thank you talk to you soon
