I know between the Brewers, the Bucks, the good weather.
Yeah, it's been spectacular.
And I can see my hand in front of my face already yesterday
when it was so foggy.
But it's sunny.
It's bright.
We have so much to be excited about.
I'm calling this World Series Wednesday
because it's like two more sleeps until we get Game One.
I'm so excited.
Should we start the bubbler with that?
We've been talking about it all morning long.
I think we should probably keep it going, shall we?
I don't think we can talk about this enough.
Okay, so the national spotlight, as we know,
is on American Family Field, and now the stage is set.
The Brewers sharing this video on social media of the grounds crew hard
at work getting the field ready for the Fall Classic,
giving the playing surface a fresh cut,
and of course painting the World Series logos that looks so sharp.
We saw those during Donovan's live shots this morning.
We also saw the guys out there watering, cutting.
they're also putting ropes up to keep people off
because um they're going to have a lot of action
on those grounds the next couple of days so and like
when they said that we're letting it rest
yeah don't mess with it you know you don't want it
to be slippery on Friday or you kind of want
to get things um kind of settled before
this is working grass hit it yeah and it's amazing what
they do down there the grounds crews
are incredibly talented it's a science i mean a literal science
to make it look like that i mean we're living
in the future sometimes i forget that and then you
you see something like that and you're like oh right
because like you go back a couple of
generations of baseball yeah you know the field did
not look like that no you know there was like
random bumps in the middle
of the field totally we're excited before we get to the next story i
don't know if i can mention this did you guys see
this um so a message just came out okay all right
i hope that i don't think this is embargoed
so i'm doing it i'm saying it i'm saying it
all right so the Violent Femmes have just
been announced oh to perform on the field prior to
game one on friday so apparently this performance
is going to take place from 4 45 to 5 15 and it's
open to all of the fans with a valid game one ticket
so um fans are encouraged to arrive even
earlier to enjoy the concert um Violent Femmes
is awesome this is a great get obviously the first
pitch is at seven so they're just making
this a party you know i'm excited they're um getting
started early you're a Violent Femmes fan aren't
you love them yeah they have a local connection
don't they they are a milwaukee band yeah i don't know
if they all live here anymore but formed here
yeah 81 was like that kind of like post-punk like they wanted
to be loud but acoustic right before
the last world series i know
that's what i'm thinking i wonder if any of the players were
like part of 82 i don't know maybe i don't know
all right yeah they're huge they're wonderful and
i saw them when they were you know younger
when i was younger they were too and then most recently
about maybe 10 years ago here at BMO
when they were kind of just getting back together
because they kind of went their own way
for a bit, as fans do, right?
And they sound great.
The vocals are amazing.
You close your eyes, you're back to 1981.
So that's huge.
Yeah, so that's going to be a fun throwback right there.
Take us back in multiple ways on Friday night.
And for folks, too, we've been talking all throughout,
ever since the tickets went up, how expensive they are.
To me, this is great because if you bought a ticket,
you're getting even more bang for your buck here.
You're getting a concert now included.
They're going to have incredible pre-game entertainment on the field.
They're going to have a ceremonial first pitch.
You're going to get a really special
ballpark experience on Friday night.
You and I were even talking about how we know
that they've kicked food up a notch for concessions.
But this is like another level.
It's like prime rib, tomahawk steaks.
It's like if you're paying thousands of dollars for a ticket, you know.
We haven't seen caviar nachos yet, but it wouldn't surprise us.
Not at all.
One could suggest that they were trying to add it up.
all right so donovan was out there earlier he had some fun
on AmFam Field this morning
he was out there for media day uh ahead of you know
the World Series on Friday so he spoke with
Brewers play-by-play announcer Josh Mauer
um just talking about the difference between this year's
team and last year's team take a listen
the amazing thing to watch about this year's team
They never, ever feel like they're out of a game.
They've been losing, so they've had to win seven playoff games
to get to the World Series, seven.
Only one of those games were they not losing.
So six of those seven wins, they've come from behind.
The last two games against the Dodgers last week at Dodger Stadium,
Tuesday night they scored the last, or Wednesday night,
they scored the last five runs, came back and won.
Then Thursday night they scored
the last six runs and came back and won.
They were losing 4-0.
So it's a team that really,
it's that belief that they have in themselves
that they're never out of a game.
It just amazes me about them.
And if they keep that going, if they just play
the way that they have been playing,
they'll be fine.
That's all we've got to do.
That's right.
They'll be fine.
We love it.
So, of course, it's the talk of the town.
And, of course, you can watch all
of the Brewers World Series games right here on Fox 6.
Game 1 is in two days.
Unbelievable.
Our coverage starts at 4.
It's going to be followed by a special
Brewers edition of Fox 6 News at 5.
First pitch is at 7, and then you can stay with us after
the game for a special edition of Fox 6 News.
Oh, my gosh.
So we're getting, like, all kinds of updates really all week long
in terms of details on fan experiences,
tickets, merch, all of that, and the most
latest thing that came in this morning
was that they're going to have watch parties at American Family Field
for the games that are on the road next week in St. Pete.
So the Brewers have released details about
their World Series watch parties for Games 3 and 4.
Both are going to be at American Family Field
with parking lots opening at 4:30
and the ballpark gates opening at 5 o'clock.
Brewers season seat members will get pre-sale access
to tickets today from noon to midnight,
and the general public will be able
to buy theirs starting tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
Tickets for these are very reasonable, $15 a person.
And guys, this is video that we showed from last week.
At the watch party, when they were on the road in L.A.,
you can't even tell that they're not home, right?
That's how vibrant the energy
was at these watch parties inside of the ballpark.
So the Brewers said that watch party information for Game 5,
they got the confetti, fireworks, just like a regular game.
So Game 5 is kind of TBD.
Of course, that might not even be necessary
if we sweep them, which we hope to.
But, yeah, I think for folks who are diehard Brewers fans
who want to be, you know, in the room where it's happening,
this is a great option because you don't need to shell out thousands
of dollars to get a playoff ballpark experience.
And with the camaraderie of all the fans, too.
Fifteen bucks is pretty accessible, right?
There's not much you can do for fifteen bucks anymore.
And a movie costs fifteen bucks or more.
You're so right.
And last week, too, I'd be interested.
I know that they were giving the proceeds
to the Brewers Community Foundation
because we know that the Brewers do so much to help local nonprofits.
So I wouldn't be surprised if there's
a similar give back this time around.
Yeah, probably.
It's huge.
Yep.
This is also huge.
So while we're talking about watch parties,
we have a very awesome young man that's going
to be actually watching in person.
So a lifelong Brewers fan gets an unforgettable surprise.
13-year-old Samson Herman
and his dad have been gifted tickets to Game 2 of the World Series.
So Samson was at Game 4 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium
when the crew clinched the NL pennant.
So his joyous reaction after the win
was captured by our intern Perry
and then that's of course when Samson went viral.
This clip was everywhere,
just kind of capturing the hearts of so many people
but even caught the attention
of two local business owners,
Joshua Meyer and Santiago Speranza.
So Meyer got the idea to buy World Series tickets
for Samson and his dad
after his wife saw the video on Fox 6 and teared up.
when you see a story when you see the way
that he reacted to the win i mean it's a no-brainer
you know essentially what we we enjoy
to do is to give back to the community the best we can
and when you give so much
but don't expect anything in return it the blessings are infinite
i'm just super happy for the experience that i get experiences
because i know lots of people
don't get too and uh go boys yes go boys we all felt
that energy well samson and his dad will
meet up with the myers and speranza both of them
at the tailgate before game two on saturday night
so that'll be fun too that's just gonna
be a lifelong memorable experience for them so cute
i mean everybody kind of had a little lump
in their throat watching that and it's so good like
it's like story radar at this point right like he just knows there's
a story and it's like beep
beep, beep, there you are, and finding Sampson in the crowd like that
and just, you know, it just touched everybody.
His dad actually yelled out to Ted and said,
like, hey, interview my son.
And so Ted was like, okay, you know, he went over there.
And I don't think at the time he realized
just how incredible and compelling
and quite frankly how viral that interview would go.
I just think when you see his reaction,
why it struck such a chord with so many fans,
this is like the best part of the human spirit right here.
And this is the best part of baseball.
It's like seeing reactions like that,
that joy, it brings people together.
I'm so happy that he's going to a World Series game
because last week, I think Ted had asked
him on air, are you guys going to the World Series?
And his dad was like, look, we don't have tickets.
It's a, I mean, they're really competitive to get,
like not wanting or asking for anything.
Well then, you know, Ted puts it out into the universe,
like, come on, like, let's step
up.
Somebody's got to get this taken care of.
And step up they did.
So this family was not expecting anything, and I'm just
so glad that they're getting this gift because they deserve it.
Very cool. Very cool. And he might be the good luck charm, right?
He was there for the one win, maybe there for another one.
Who knows? We'll wait and see.
Hey, you can actually kind of give some joy like
that to the world as well.
Socks. If you think socks are worth a World Series ticket,
well, I've got news for you.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers surely
does think socks are that important, and they kind of are.
Members are getting raffle tickets when they donate socks.
So the more socks, the more chances they have to win.
So they're going to have eight winners win
a pair of World Series tickets.
So far, the union says they've received 13,000 donations.
That's huge.
The raffle will be streamed live today at noon.
Socks will help those in need in our area.
The unions of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council
are collecting socks across the region.
But to be fair, to win the World Series tickets,
You do have to be a member of the IBEW, the local 494.
You don't have to need to win to donate socks, though.
And it is an important thing.
If you think about not having socks in a Milwaukee winter,
how many times your snow gets in your boot and then your socks wet,
and if you don't have a change of socks.
So it's really important.
They say it's like the number one request from the underhoused
and underhoused community that,
you know, socks.
I need fresh, clean socks.
Well, think about it.
When you travel, what are the two things that you pack?
Socks and underwear.
Because you need them.
And clean ones are important.
So, anyways, love that they're doing that.
That's really cool.
Okay, so we know that Brewers fans,
you know, we have a lot of snowbirds,
and we're going to have a lot of snowbirds
this weekend, even though there is no snow,
because a lot of Brewers fans are headed to Florida
because it's actually cheaper to travel to Florida
to see the Brewers next week than it
is at American Family Field, which is kind of amazing.
Yeah, ticket prices are in the thousands right now.
Some fans are saying that they found
that it's cheaper to fly to Florida, round trip,
buy tickets down there and even stay there
than it would be to watch it at American Family Field.
So we found fans that are doing that next week.
So meet Linda Hayes.
She's flying out to Tampa for Game 3 with her daughter.
Perfect girls trip.
She tells us two flights and two World Series tickets
came out to less than 2,000.
That's like nothing compared to what we're seeing here.
One ticket, we're seeing more than two Gs.
9,400.
And this is also going to be an experience for the crowd too also.
And they get to experience a different ballpark.
Anyway, another fan, Abraham Villarreal,
is driving to Florida with his wife.
He has game five tickets, but is confident
that he'll score game four tickets as well once he's down there.
We want to go. We want to go badly.
Like, the Brewers are everything to us.
So we were like, if we can't go at home, let's do it away.
I've never had an opportunity to go to the World Series,
especially with the Brewers before.
And who knows when the next time will be.
My daughter definitely has never had this experience before.
So, gosh, yeah, it's 100% worth it.
Loving that YOLO spirit.
A look online at the secondary market still
shows standing room at more than two grand
at American Family Field, at Tropicana Field.
The lowest price for a seat is more than $750.
So much lower there if you want to go to Florida.
I kind of love that idea because you
also get like a fall trip out of it.
And then I also love Florida seeing
Brewers fans down in their hometown.
You know what I mean?
Like, the fact that we're representing down there,
I think it's going to be pretty awesome.
Who traveled pretty well
as we've got some sports fans, so it's pretty good.
You know who else travels really well is Gino, but he is here today,
and he's got a look at the new season
of The Terminal List coming up next.
The task suggests someone bigger
is funding and arming these operations.
It's only a matter of time before this hits home.
James Reese made a career out of putting terrorists in the dirt.
He may be exactly what we need for this fight.
How you doing, Reese?
Pretty strange.
When was the last time you saw Moe for a week?
He perpetrated an attack using skills that he learned from us.
More specifically from you.
You come with me, we find Moe.
All right, so James Reese
is laying low after completing his revenge campaign,
but is brought back into the fold by CIA
and pulled into a complex global conspiracy.
Yeah, this looks kind of intense here, Gino.
The second season of The Terminal List comes to Prime Video today,
and you talked with an actor
who plays a character that's new to this series.
That's right. And in Hollywood,
sometimes it's not so much what you know, but who you know.
And that's what happened with Gabriel Luna getting
this role in season two of The Terminal List.
Well, actually, that's a funny story.
It was after shortly after season one of The Terminal List.
Chris and I were at his father in law's house,
my good friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, for a Christmas party.
And usually there's like 250 people at Arnold's Christmas party.
but this was the first one post COVID.
So we arrived thinking we'd see all the usual
suspects and, in fact, it was only 25 of us.
It was a very small kind of family, intimate
family gathering for Christmas.
And my wife and I were sitting at the table with he and Catherine,
Arnold's eldest, his
wife, and we were all sitting just talking
and asking him what he was up to. And he said,
we did this show called The Terminal List.
And if it goes well, there's a really great
part in there for you and you know i'd love for you to do it
and you know he said let's keep it
in the family and i thought that was a good idea
and so i agreed in the moment to do it and a lot
of stuff happened he's a very busy man he had a very busy schedule
and we had a uh a bit of a
actor's strike that happened somewhere in between as well
so but here we are you know well there we
were i should say three years later
and i was shooting Devil in Disguise in Toronto and my
calls and said you know Chris Pratt just called
and they have a show for you and i was like yeah
i remember that one it was a while ago
but uh you know a man's word is his word so we we both held
to that let's examine that story first of all i'm going
with Chris Pratt to Arnold Schwarzenegger's
house not bad yeah well we arrived separately
but uh hey um arnold and i have been close since
the Terminator and we did Fubar together
and in fact we've done four projects together i think
And, you know, I think we both look up
to him in kind of that fatherly role.
You know, of course, Chris, as his son-in-law, and then me as his kind
of surrogate son in a couple of different things we've played.
But, yeah, he's kind of the king.
We sat there, and he was like, you know, this is,
Chris turns to me, and I think this is what kind of broke the ice.
He's like, this is weird.
This is like we're kind of at,
he's kind of like the king, and we're the king's court.
and we're all the dukes and the ladies
and we're all just hanging around it's a very small
small christmas party in uh uh
in relatively relatively speaking to what he usually does so
that that felt really you know just
to know where you are in his heart and his mind is
it's really really sweet but um yeah it is it is uh
from the outside i assume it could be a weird
story but it's a great story not weird it is a great story
but of course there's always more to
character than what's actually on the page.
So is it kind of tough for him to get in the mindset
of this whole Freddie Strain?
Yeah, I always admire that when an actor gets a role and it's
like, okay, you're going to be this person.
It has to be real and convincing. And he worked hard
on making the character worthwhile.
When you get the script, tell me how you go about constructing
the character. What do you do before you're ready
to go on set and start playing it?
Well, generally speaking, I usually put together a playlist.
I'm very kind of musically oriented
and kind of set my North Star with the music of the character
and what they would listen to on any given day.
And then in this case, there was a lot of training involved
that we would undergo once we started,
but I was fortunate enough to have had accumulated training
in various things I've worked on in the past.
So it was important to me to reengage with all that.
And I would head out into the range with Taryn Butler,
who does Taryn Tactical.
He's up in Simi Valley, and he, of course,
has trained Keanu for John Wick
and Johnny B for the Punisher
and various, various others.
And so it was important for me to get back on the gun
and start working in that respect,
get your body as healthy and as strong as it can be,
try to endure the shoot.
And then, you know, when I got there,
I had the great privilege of working with Jared Shaw,
our technical advisor and also an EP and also an actor in the show
and also a former Navy SEAL himself.
And he was my guide for the most part.
He went through the sniper school.
He is Freddy in many different ways.
So my goal really was try to get as close
as possible to Jared Shaw as I could.
He seems like such a gentle, mild-mannered man that it's hard
to kind of imagine him in that combat kind of a role.
And I have this to say about Chris Pratt.
My niece loved Chris Pratt, and it was the day before a wedding,
and I was putting together a tape.
And he sent me a tape for my niece's wedding that he did personally.
So I'm always in Chris Pratt's corner.
Thoughtful.
Fancy guy.
That's thoughtful.
Thanks, Gina.
Thank you.
All right, more Ramon Walkie after the break.
Coming up, support, resources, and community connection.
Islands of Brilliance is here with details on their brilliant mornings.
Coming up next.
A quarterly meeting brings together parents
and caregivers of neurodivergent children.
Right.
Jeff Ganger and Sandra Lomeli are here from Islands
of Brilliance with more on their brilliant morning check-ins.
Thank you so much for coming in.
Thank you for having us.
Good morning.
You guys do such a good job supporting
the neurodivergent emergency community in general.
And this is amazing for parents.
Can you share a little bit about this program?
Absolutely. So Brilliant Mornings is a quarterly caregiver meeting.
But caregivers are so much more than just your daily living skills,
your emotional regulation.
We're advocates. We are policy changers. We are researchers.
A lot of caregivers are out
in the community attending different conferences
and quarterly meetings that are held by the state around Medicaid.
whether it's around Iris Children's Long Term Care Services going
to different finance committee
meetings attending your state
and local budget meetings all to make sure that they have a voice
in the decisions that are being made around services
and programs that impact their loved
ones there's a lot on the plate there
so you know having that place to connect i'm sure is a huge
part of you know keeping them going
and keeping them positive it is and exactly that's why
brilliant mornings exist we take all of those bits
of information we attend those programs we go to
those policy hearings and we put it
into tangible understandable actionable items that the parents
can then move forward with and maybe you could share
a little bit because each month you guys
tackle um different um you guys tackle different
or the topics i would say and pressing ones when
it comes to what's needed can you share
a little bit more about what the next topic is and what
you guys have done so far well the next topic
is the reason we're on here because uh our next topic
is basically a november wellness check-in okay
and uh when i read yoga and sound bath i'm like
oh sandra's got to get on and talk about this so you know
that's that's just one of the the things
that we do and we're thinking about um parents
and caregivers and going into the holidays and
the stress related to that it's like okay well let's see
if we can put on something in november
where they're not expected to do anything.
They can just come as they are and sort of just be there
and be in the presence of other caregivers
and parents that get it and just relax.
So it's more about a caring type of meeting.
And do you find that parents
and caregivers kind of almost need to be reminded
that they need to take care of themselves first,
like put your oxygen mask on first, as they say, right?
Absolutely, every single time.
And that's why, actually,
November is National Caregiver Appreciation Month.
And that's where we decided to do an opportunity to let them come in,
take a moment to remember that they are human and that they deserve
to have their cup filled as well with a sound bath.
No need to bring your swimsuits or your towels.
It's not that kind of a bath.
What is a sound bath? I've got to ask.
I'm sorry, I don't know. I should. Should I know?
We have a practitioner by the name of Michelle Colbert
that is coming in with different bowls
and tools. So she will then produce different types of signals
and waves that will help relax
the nervous system and just regenerate yourself.
It's almost like getting a massage while seated
and listening to those sounds. It's very relaxing.
You know, mind and body is so important to relax,
but also kind of restore that energy for gearing up for what's next
because holiday times are also
busy coming up too. Absolutely. It's right around the corner.
So remember to fill your own cups so
that you can go and fill the cups of those little ones
that you care for right because if you don't
take care of yourself you won't have anything left
to give anybody else and i'm sure you know i can't
even imagine it but i'm sure they feel the need to always be giving
when they need to occasionally
receive exactly i'm looking at some of the past quarters
that you guys have done maybe we could
talk about those two if you don't mind navigating the service
and funding appeals we kind of
mentioned that a little bit understanding
developmental stages and i think that's
important too when it comes to having this community.
If you could share a little bit
more about that for families out there.
Absolutely. So understanding the different
developmental stages is very different in each particular family,
especially when you're dealing
with neurodivergent individuals.
What may seem like a milestone for a typical five-year-old
may be completely different for a neurodivergent individual.
So coming in and working with the
subject matter experts that are in a particular field whether it
is occupational therapy whether
it is related to different behavior management whether it's related
to your basic education of
you know digesting that information
and that each individual receives that information differently
where some may listen and they'll digest others actually need
a visual prompt others may actually
just need to be in the room and sit
so we bring in as i mentioned those experts that will
Because then give the families an understanding of where
their particular child is in that developmental stage, regardless
of their age and stature, and be able to move forward with that.
And you guys also just have a sense of community,
I feel like, at all of your programs.
So not only hearing from you,
but perhaps having that conversation with other families,
too, and connecting in that different way, I'm sure is huge.
Yes.
So one of the things that we do additionally at Early Mornings
is mentor caregivers with a one-on-one to navigate
because every person's individual circumstance is so different.
So we go and partner with them, determine what their gaps are,
and then help provide them the resources
that they need in order to accomplish that.
Yeah, and being able to, I would imagine,
connect with other parents that are going through maybe
not the same thing because there's no identical path here,
but like something similar where they can kind of,
you know, commiserate with one another
and be able to kind of share experiences helps.
I mean, even, you know, for those who don't necessarily have
the additional challenges
of raising a neurodivergent child or working with one,
it's their stress, right,
to like meet these, you know, kids and walk by one
and talk by this and blah, blah, blah.
And so, and even with kids that don't have additional challenges
or additional, you know, graces and blessings,
there's just no real way to say this is the path.
So everybody gets to walk their own.
exactly sure and i think um we try to keep
in mind that uh the the first thing we want to do
is make sure to communicate to them that you're
not alone in this i think that's the big thing
sure um so when they come in they connect with somebody else
and all of a sudden you find that
they have already navigated that before
and they're giving you resources and it becomes more
of a sharing and it becomes a community well thank you guys
for the resources for the support
for the information once again this is happening
on november 14th at 10 30 a.m thank you thank you
well coming up ryan castellaz is here with another creative
and a drink that you can find on agency's
menu thank you welcome
back everybody
so we know that the creativity
of the staff at agency is
truly unmatched and that's a big reason
for that is this guy right here yes this is ryan castellaz
their creative director he is joining us now live
to make a very special drink that i noticed is new
to the menu if you're wondering where it is it's
on the experiential side experiential and it is
an experience it's called the Apollo walk me through
this beverage absolutely so this menu
you know we've done this a long time now
so you know you know all of our menus are thematic
and i love it's so fun it's so fun this one is all about mythology
so we're following different
Greek gods and goddesses,
and really investigating their whole kind of ethos.
So this is actually on Apollo,
and it's the first cocktail on our current tasting menu.
The first thing I'm adding
for my N.A. is this beautiful gin from Andan, infused with
olives.
I was going to say, you, and you put the olives in there.
Yes, we do.
Manzanilla olives.
I love this.
Beautiful little kind of soft salinity
that you get in through those olives.
That's my favorite flavor.
It's the best.
I'm a big olive, yeah.
Me too.
Big olive girlie, yeah.
Dirty Martini lovers unite, truly.
And then a little bit of Little French.
This is their kind of white apothie.
It's absolutely beautiful.
One of my favorite products in the NA space.
Yum.
From there, we're moving on to a little bit of apricot kernel,
honey, and mahlab syrup.
So apricot kernel is the pits of apricots, dried.
Oh yum.
And then they almost taste like,
they work very similarly to almonds, but they taste
like peachy almonds.
Peachy almonds.
Beautiful.
I think I would like that.
It's delicious.
I love the color of it.
mahlab which is cherry pits um and they have this kind
of marzipan vanilla cherry vibe like a nutty
it's gorgeous fruit energy beautiful flavor
so lots of fruity lots of nutty all in this
source here okay and then of course we have a little peach nectar
and this is just a quarter
ounce and then for acidity here we're using acid
phosphate have you ever seen this baby before i
have not i love your potions so this is like Brian's science lab
so acid phosphate four drops this is
actually what we used to in the midwest before we could ship citrus
so you know we have modern
conveniences of refrigerated shipping right we
think about that as something we've always had
yeah but when the citrus couldn't get here like
if we can't grow it here we needed a way to make
drinks acidic sorry if i i'm just everything
you're saying makes a lot of sense and i was
just like oh i never thought about that it's super wild it
is wild to think about yeah we created
acid actually from limestone
so pharmacists found out that if we dissolved limestone we could create
phosphoric acid and then phosphoric acid became acid phosphate
so this is yeah it's awesome you
know and this is actually the primary acid that you find in cola
so sodas are generally acidified
with phosphoric acid oh i know it's almost always
in liquid form it has this kind of sparkle to it
a little effervescent exactly and when really beautiful
so when we need to add acidity things
like soda um this is great without that flavor of lemon
or lime okay perfect so we're gonna put all
that in there now Apollo obviously uh the sun god uh
so he had a love and um his love was this
little kind of almost wood nymph type human okay
um he was chasing her through this the forest and
and the the myth goes that Apollo was shot by Eros uh
with an arrow of love because Apollo was like
yo your gift is stupid you just make people love people uh
and and Eros is like i'm gonna show you
how powerful love is so he shot Apollo with an arrow
of love Apollo fell in love with this nymph
who Eros shot with an arrow of basically repulsion
so he is chasing this lover who is repulsed by him
through the woods and when he finally reaches
her that's dirty literally um the the nymph is
transformed into a laurel tree
and so Apollo never gets to be with his love she forever
is this tree in the forest
so the moral of the story is don't trust those arrows are strong
exactly love is strong so we have the sun in here
to represent Apollo beautiful that is a peach and
cherry wood ice sphere that we make at the bar
and then to represent his lover we have a little
bit of bay laurel oil so this is just fresh bay leaf infused
into oil it's got a beautiful color
to it. It's gorgeous, isn't it? So I'm going to put
that around the sun. And now the idea
is when you swirl this glass,
the oil will race around the
sun, but they'll never touch.
So they can never fully be together.
That is so beautiful.
This is Kat Doty, our creative
director. Really, really quite smart.
And I'm just going to finish this with a little bit
of club soda. We're going to do about an ounce
of club soda in there. Make it a little spritzy. I also love the color
of this. It's perfect. Is it gorge?
A tunnel. I know. Cheers, my friend.
To agency. This is beautiful.
A little fruity, a little nutty.
And it tells a story.
And it tells a beautiful story.
It's intentional.
It's a, oh, okay, now I want to try it.
So you get that soft sound of the gin.
Oh, this is so good.
You get that kind of longness of the French,
that little peachiness from that peach nectar.
Sometimes when, you know, we're making drinks here,
it's like, I'm like, okay, there's a lot going on in here,
but what never ceases to amaze me
is how it all comes together so harmoniously
and the drink, and it's not too much.
100%.
Like, it seems like, okay, there's a lot of ingredients,
but the way they all work together,
It doesn't taste like it.
That, to me, is the mark of a truly great drink, right?
Yeah, it all blends together.
It's what we call balance.
So how do we bring complexity into balance, chaos into balance?
That's largely the work of a drink maker, creating order from chaos.
And it's one of the things that I love most about the industry.
And you're very good at it.
Order from chaos.
Oh, thanks, Fred.
In the new menu at Agency, I'm taking a look here.
You've got all kinds of, you've got Poseidon.
We have five baddies right now.
Poseidon, Dionysus, Persephone.
We have the beautiful Apollo.
So come on in.
We're doing a tasting menu with this.
Oh, yes.
Okay.
It's incredible.
I saw that.
It walks you all the way through the mythology.
We bring these beautiful postcards to your table
that tell you the stories of the myths
that we're talking about and the recipes.
And Zach Pinosky, our incredible chef,
has made five beautiful courses of food to pair
with these cocktails.
So truly an incredible experience.
It's only available another week or two.
We have Halloween coming up shortly,
which is going to be a really fun menu.
Oh, I'm looking.
So there's a special Halloween menu.
Yeah.
Of course.
I know it.
Why did I even ask?
We're doing horror movies, baby.
It's going to be awesome.
We're doing it.
We're doing Frankenstein.
We're doing Rosemary's Baby.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, can't wait to hear about that.
Brian Castle at Agency.
Thank you so much.
Of course.
Cheers.
Check us out.
817 North Marshall.
We'll be right back.
Yeah, the Double Dutch Hotel, right?
It's gorgeous.
Absolutely.
Find friendship and community through travel.
I have Paul Ward and Ian Gould here who are founders of G&W Travel,
as you can see clearly on their shirts right there.
Very good marketers.
They're here with more about how they got started
and how you can sign up for your next adventure.
Thank you so much for coming in.
It's very, very nice to be here.
We've already been chatting a little bit behind the scenes.
You guys have a very deep, deep connection to Wisconsin.
Tell me about that first.
Yeah, we do.
I came over here in 2001.
I married a lovely Wisconsin lady.
All right.
Been here, raised my kids here.
Now the kids are older.
I have a chance to travel more.
So we thought this was just the perfect time
to bring these ideas to the front.
For sure.
And start working on that.
And you guys have been a big part
of the Milwaukee hospitality community, too.
Tell us about that.
I've been actually, well, I came over in 1994.
Okay.
When you say it like that, it seems like a really long time ago.
Yeah, yeah.
Up in Green Bay, came to Milwaukee, and I started at,
went to Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
And then while I was there, I started an Irish pub called County Clare.
Okay.
That's the county I'm from in Ireland.
And it seemed rather fitting.
But yeah, for the past 20-odd years, I've been in the hospitality,
running pubs and restaurants around the city as well.
So that's how he and I met.
Oh, that's the connection right there.
And so, of course, now you're taking
that and you've started this G&W Irish Tours.
Ireland, I've never been.
I'm told it's beautiful.
My little DNA test says I have 4% Irish DNA,
so I think I'm obligated to go back at some point.
I don't think it needs much of a pitch,
but I'm sure if the folks are like me, they need a reason, an excuse.
so what's what's my excuse what why should i go
to ireland well these tours started as a couple of
friends speaking we had people coming to us
and saying when you go home can we come with you all
this sort of thing yeah um so it grew from we speaking
with friends to taking a group of friends
across they tell their friends
and we this is developed into the G&W community okay we really
grew organically indeed absolutely all right
so this wasn't like a big business plan that you were
like you know going up front actually quite
the opposite i think it was just it kind of we fell
into a little bit you know ian was doing a little bit before me
and he says geez you should get into
these these are mad and and you know they just seem
to connect we're both really good with people
and people he has a following i had
a following we said let's merge the two and let's take people
back to our home because we'd been living here
in our adopted home for 30 odd years and right
for years people go back to ireland like paul where
do we go what do we see who do we go to
they would come to the pub and ask these questions
so now we get to do it why don't you come with us
Right. We're heading home. You still had all those connections,
even though you'd been here for so long.
Yeah. Family and friends. Sure. You had all that.
We still owe a lot of people money over there.
So they have our addresses.
You have to go back and check. Yeah.
Are we good? You know yourself rich. Rich.
Yeah, absolutely. And so what would make your tour stand out
from the others other than the obvious connections?
Well, we're it's personable, you know,
and like what you asked earlier, why do it? Why not?
You know, and it's like we're two of your friends.
Like Ian likes to say you're two goofy cousins.
you know like we're taking we're going back
to Ireland would you like to come with us right and
so we'll take you off the beaten track we go
to the places that we grew up going to right uh one
that always stands out for me is the late town races
the horse race in Ireland that no one thinks
to go to and it's basically
when the tide goes out they set up this horse track and there's a
horse race and we're doing a bunch of betting
and stuff and all the locals we took we took 40 odd
Americans there all the locals are scratching
their heads going how did you how did you know
about this and we're like well we're with these two lads from g
and so yeah this is the
learning side absolutely pardon the pun there
that you guys have that other folks wouldn't
necessarily have uh you know
and i always like to say you know you don't want to follow the
tourist crowds anyway if you want the good food you can look
for the locals absolutely folks that
don't look like you to go eat with them so i imagine
when especially with your background in
food and everything like that you must know
the best places to eat real irish food yeah
And just to bounce off what you said, obviously we still
do a lot of the touristic things that are worth doing.
We do chop away some stuff that's
not so interesting as it might have been.
But yeah, we're always looking for input.
So we converse with people.
We were up in Carlingford in County Louth,
and they're famed for their oysters.
So we were able to hook up with Kian,
who owns the Carlingford Oyster Company.
Interesting.
Go and do a tasting and eat little sips of beer.
Not a lot of folks would necessarily put Ireland and oysters together,
necessarily, but that's fascinating.
There's a big Guinness Oyster Festival every year.
It's huge.
Really?
Yeah, Guinness Oyster Festival.
It takes place and stuff, as I sit here.
I love it.
And you've got a really cool lineup.
You start with the Christmas stuff, though.
Yeah.
Tell me about that.
That's coming up in a month.
We've got, like, close to 40 people coming with us,
including my two lovely daughters
that are coming with me on this one.
So I'm really excited.
It's more personal.
But, yeah, we're doing Switzerland, Germany, France, and Luxembourg.
We'll see all the Christmas markets
and see how that differs from country to country.
Right, it makes sense.
And then what's coming up in 2027?
We have Spain in April.
We have Northwest Ireland in June,
just right as summer break hits.
And then we have two Badgers tours.
So we have a pre-game and a post-game tour
for the Wisconsin Badgers.
They're actually playing in Dublin.
Oh, that's right. Okay.
So we'll take you on a lovely trip
to the southwest of Ireland,
and then it'll culminate with the game
or we'll start with the game,
depending on which one you want to do.
That'd be fun.
Yeah, and then we have an Italian tour.
That's in October, right when it's not as hot.
And you're probably wondering,
well, it's those GNW Irish tours.
Why on earth do they do any of these other tours?
Because it grew into something bigger.
Like, all of these people that were coming with us
were like, well, we've done Ireland with you.
Can we go somewhere else?
So we basically ran out of Ireland.
It's a little bit like how you plan a trip,
even if it's not necessarily in Ireland.
So I get that.
It's that whole idea of community.
We're all traveling together.
It's the experience that we have together.
You kind of join a bigger family in a way.
Yep, and everybody's included.
Now, in my family, we like to save a couple bucks.
So what kind of discounts can I get?
Well, we have an early sign-up discount.
So per person, you know,
there's $200 off if you sign up for our April tour.
If you sign up before November 1st, $200.
So that's $400 a couple.
That's a lot of drinking.
That's at least one day's worth of drinking
for some of the people out there.
You know what I mean?
Some of them.
Some of them, you know.
And we know a few of them, and I can tell
you right now, they know who they are.
Sure, yep.
No shortage on either side of the pond there.

We've got more Real Milwaukee coming up in just a couple of minutes.
All right.
Welcome back.
I wanted to share this because I don't hang out
with you guys as much as I used to.
But yesterday, I literally thought of you guys in the grocery store
because something was happening that I was like,
oh, I don't think that's okay.
And I was like, we need to talk about this one day in Milwaukee.
So I went to the grocery store,
and I've had this real thing for green grapes lately.
I can't get enough of them.
I eat them all the time.
They're so good right now.
Yeah.
And so I go over where they usually have them,
and they usually have them pre-bagged.
Yes.
You're paying by the pound, but they're usually pre-bagged.
Some of them are in the little plastic clamshells, whatever.
And I'm standing there, and I'm waiting,
and I'm waiting, and I'm waiting.
Well, this person, and I'm going to keep it
as generic as possible so I don't out this person,
but this person literally goes through
and opens up at least six other bags
to take whatever bunch of grapes they wanted to put them in one bag.
To make their own grape bag?
So they were taking the good ones out
of the other bags to make one really good one.
And I know that person is paying by the pound.
They're not, like, stealing.
No, no, yes.
No, you don't do that.
You take your chances with the best bunch in your bag.
And that's what you got.
Yes.
I just feel like that is not the way to lead life.
You take the bad with the good.
Right.
And you make the best decision you can in the moment.
And then anything else is just part of life.
And that's selfish, leaving the rest
of the soft grapes for everybody else.
Right.
I mean, I get it.
I've never seen that.
You know, I've definitely picked through, like, curtains
of strawberries to make sure the ones I'm getting are the right ones.
They're not moldy.
But I'm not picking out of other ones.
I've even seen people, like, you know,
take a grape of a tester of each, but not to create their own package.
Yeah.
You may have seen my mother do that.
She's like, you can test them.
I'm like, I don't think you can.
Yeah, no.
But, like, that was just, I've never seen anyone make their own bag.
Okay, so she emptied out one of the bags.
Well, she had one that she was sort of comfortable with,
but she was pulling stuff out of the bottom
of that and then taking it out.
I shouldn't have said she.
So now at least we know the gender, but whatever.
So now is she, like, grabbing other people's grapes
and putting them back into a different bag that maybe we picked up?
I didn't see her put into other bags,
just take from other bags to put into hers.
So at least she wasn't, like, casting away.
But it left the other bags, like, only three-quarters full,
and clearly not enough to snuff
because she's taking the cream of the crop.
What?
Oh, I don't like that.
That's what I thought.
Thank you for sharing.
For people that are thinking about doing that,
please don't.
I mean, if you need more, like, buy two bags.
I don't know how much I believe in karma,
but if I did, I would be worried if I was this woman.
Because I just feel like it's just so inconsiderate.
Or maybe it's just not the produce for you that week.
There's been times that grapes have been on my list
and I felt them and I'm like you know what
not this week yeah you know like you felt a
bunch of them and they're kind of soft
or not up to your standard and not shy about it either
agreed because for a minute I was like she's doing being
so bold about this I thought maybe
maybe she worked there
but she it was just no problem I'll take that I don't want that
when you started the story I was like
this is going to be a taste tester and now this is
even more egregious than I had
and I had never seen anyone make that one yeah me neither oh wow
all right well back in the day used to be a big pile
of grapes you pull the bag off the roll
that's fine yeah it's okay to pull
from the back right i do that oh yeah i do that for
everything for milk even box things
