Russian troops have infiltrated Dobropillia in the Donetsk region and are attempting to plant their flags there to create the illusion of control. Ukrainian defenders continue to identify and eliminate these groups, preventing the enemy from establishing stable control over the territory.
A soldier with the call sign "Muchnoy" reported enemy infiltration into the city on October 18 on a Telegram channel . He stated that the situation was developing exactly as he had predicted, providing the coordinates of the enemy's likely entry point.
"The Russians got in there and started smashing things, trying to establish their presence and create the illusion of control over the territory," Mukhnoy said.
The military man emphasized that the mere presence of enemy flags does not necessarily mean the capture of the entire territory where they were planted. He stated that it is important to distinguish between a one-time appearance of an enemy group, its actual presence, and stable control of the area. He added that the enemy is present in Dobropillia and that the number of enemy groups is gradually increasing, so each new infiltration must be promptly identified and verified.
"As long as the enemy continues to infiltrate Dobropillia, it's too early to relax. I will monitor the situation and update it according to new information," Muchnoy emphasized. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of the villages of Zolotoy Kolodets, Novotroitske, and Petrovka in the Donetsk region. However, the First Presidential Brigade of the National Guard "Bureviy" denied these claims on October 17. They assured that all three villages were under the control of the brigade's units and other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"To create the illusion of advancement, Russian troops are resorting to the tactic of infiltrating small infantry groups into populated areas. Their task is to plant the Russian flag, capture it on video, and present the footage as proof of territorial capture," the Bureviy Brigade explained.
According to the military, such enemy groups are detected and destroyed, and staged videos are then used by Russian propaganda as evidence of fictitious successes. The brigade noted that dozens of Russian servicemen are dying for the sake of a few shots for propaganda stories, sent by command on missions with no realistic chance of gaining a foothold in these territories.
"The Russian Ministry of Defense can declare fictitious victories as much as it wants, but these claims don't change the reality: populated areas remain under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and Russian attack aircraft continue to die for the sake of propaganda," the Bureviy Brigade added.
