The Wild Just UNLOCKED Something HUGE...
Oct 14, 2026
This is Unlock the Minnesota Wild as another huge win
in Vegas has detailed exactly what
the changes John Hines made were supposed to be.
We're going to be breaking this game down,
going over a few other updates, including
an update on Nico Sturm,
as well as how players like Rieger Lorenz has fit into this lineup
in really what is a perfect spot for him and this team.
Folks, we have a lot to break down here
in today's video as today is the Frozen Frenzy.
we have another game coming tonight we have a lot of stuff on the way
and you will not want to miss
it so if you haven't already be sure to drop
a sub here on the channel help us get to our goal
of 6,000 subscribers and i want to make sure
to keep you up to date with everything going on
with this Minnesota Wild team as it happens
and as of right now there's a lot of expected things
to happen over the next couple of days including some moves
so we're gonna be having it all here
on the channel but i want to get straight into it
because this game was another great one against
Vegas i think the biggest thing here the special teams
the penalty kill has been absolutely
fantastic the best in the NHL you're looking at the special team
so far is the best in each category
41.2 power play percent one of 32
and the penalty kill 95.5 percent number one of 32 as well and
this really sums up exactly how the Wild have played
this season the special teams has been
exactly what we needed to be the offense has
been there the defense has been there and this team
really you know has just done
a phenomenal job they allowed one power play goal against and
ultimately this is exactly where this team needs
to remain throughout the season because this team
i wouldn't say is the most disciplined
but it is not at all uh you know a team that just goes out
and takes penalties at every single point
in every single way.
They're just not that team.
But having a team like this
that's already as good as they are
and really looking at a team like Vegas
who has a great power play
and you kill a whole bunch of penalties against them,
that's a phenomenal way to structure this team.
And I mean,
if we go ahead and look at this game against Vegas
and the box score here,
you're getting a lot of positivity from these players.
25 minutes for Ole Målå
Shout out to him.
He played fantastic.
an assist on the game as well four block shots
and he is someone that has very very very highly
uh you know surprised me throughout
the season we knew he was good you know there's no doubt
about that but he is playing out
of his mind especially trying to kind of fill in a role
that all these defensemen are trying to do with Brock Faber out
but this game another great one
and Quinn Hughes two assists in this game again Eric Snell
a goal Matt Boldy a goal Maxim Shabunov
a goal Delyura a goal I mean we're seeing
everybody once again really come to play in this
game since the big line changes that we saw John Hynes make it
that's the big thing to take away
here the line changes have unlocked everything we've needed
to see from this team you're getting
your guys going you're getting Shabunov going
on the power play Daniel Erova a goal as
well Boldy on the score sheet Eric Snell on the score sheet
and I feel like Michael Russo really
does a good you know obviously a good job here
at summing up the game your goal scores but the
penalty kill 5 for 5 21 for 22 in the season
and Jesper Wallstedt another fantastic game from him
only with 21 saves but he made some high danger saves
which really could have evened up the game
and I still can't believe that Jesper Wallstedt said
no it wasn't a bad game by me but I can be
better and if he's saying that's you know
not his best game I think folks were in a very very good
spot here, but, you know, the
offense is doing a great job in giving the support
to Jesper Wallstedt. Like you said,
you're getting your guys going. Ten minutes
for Yurov on the ice, one goal,
and he was absolutely fantastic, and I mean,
you look at the goals from here, right in front
of the net, that one-timer, just a
beautiful, beautiful play, and, you know, I really
don't care how the goals go in, as long as they go
in, and I feel like that's really the way
that this team has been structured over
the past couple of years, but Riga Lawrence
being another guy as well, that
throwing him into the mix with a lot of these guys,
Bobby Brink, Riga Lawrence, and Daniil Yurov, that line,
I just want to give a huge shout-out to as well,
because it's unbelievable how well they worked together
and how well they played.
So, give me your thoughts on this game, folks, specifically,
you know, the way it's structured, how it played out,
and what to expect tonight against Winnipeg,
and we're going to jump into that here as well in a couple minutes.
But I do want to touch on Nico Sturm,
and as I'm sure a lot of you guys know,
did end up going to the hospital after taking a slap shot to the ear,
eerily eerily similar to Brock Faber
and you see Michael Russo say this as I reported in the
takeaways Hines confirmed that Nico Sturm was taken
to the hospital after a puck hit him right
in the ear hole two weeks after Brock Faber was hit
in the left ear hole teammates were rattled
I mean you saw Quinn Hughes visibly you know like cringed
because of how similar it was to Brock
Faber knowing what happened to him
so far there has been no update on Sturm but it does sound
like everything is precautionary for now
so there's a good chance we may see Nico Sturm out
for a little bit with a bit of precaution
and I'm totally up with that because we want to make sure
that you know this is not something you're dealing
with obviously we saw the broken skull with Brock
Faber doesn't seem to be like that with Nico Sturm
and I hope it isn't but we're at a point right now
where we cannot confirm and you see the Wilds saying
that you know he wasn't going to return
to the lineup tonight.
So whether it was precautionary or not,
they weren't taking any chances.
They saw what happened to Brock Faber
and they weren't letting it happen again.
And Michael McCarron did speak out on it
after the game and said,
he seemed to be okay when I saw him after the first,
but yeah, it's scary.
So at least a little bit of good news
in this incredibly scary incident
that we don't want to see happen again.
But we're looking at this kind of timeline,
just left the game, the hospital evaluation,
no diagnosis or returns.
date confirmed in the reporting so we'll have to wait
and see but I really wouldn't mind if
Sturm did miss a few games just to be safe just to be sure about it
but this would not surprise
me if we started to see some wild players throw
in some of those plastic ear guards because
it was uh you know it was a scary incident
but now you're looking at Nico Sturm his impact on
this team has been very big since he did jump
into the lineup he's been great on the dot and I mean
88.2% base off win percent
at 16-1. Two loss.
His importance isn't going to be understated,
and I think that, you know, making sure he is
okay is obviously the big thing.
We saw how much the team cares about him,
cares about each other. They want to make sure
primarily he is okay
and good to go. So, we're going to have the
updates here as it happens, but, you know,
just another very scary incident.
We already saw Jared Spurgeon throw in the
ear guards, maybe even see a few other players
as well, or maybe we see
John Hines and Bill Guerin advise the players to at least
just try it to see uh you know if this doesn't happen again
and obviously it is a freak incident
but still very very scary now we're gonna go
on to uh you know Rieger Lawrence because his game
tonight or last night excuse me
was just another phenomenal appearance for him the assist on the
game nine minutes time on ice
but he did get into his first fight nearly went for a Gordie Howe
hat trick and I mean getting in his first fight it's
a good thing you know you gotta get the guy
there you gotta get the kid there the way he plays
a very gritty game he said this at the end of the
games I'm always willing to go
and you know I against I can't remember who it was right now
correct me or remind me in the comments down below
but he's a big guy you know very very big guy so
you know Rieger Lawrence getting into that absolutely don't mind it
but coming out of college you know
you don't normally see some fights there
so good to get that under your belt because you knew it's
coming now that's another thing another big step
in your journey of your early part of your career
and it's gonna be good to go
but see Michael McCarron say this about the fight as well there
we go Brendan Lauson the uh the fight
that Rieger Lawrence had he's an older guy he knows Rieger's
a young kid I didn't like what he did
at the same time I thought Rieger did a good job he
stood in there he's willing to stand up
for himself he did a great job big words coming
from Michael McCarron from the big guys
so obviously Rieger Lawrence getting into this
like another big step in your journey
and John Hines said this he's hard on the puck and very
competitive we knew that and I think that's all going
to come into his play about how his game
is structured how everything makes sense for him in this lineup
and you know I think this game
proved he's willing to get into wherever they
are and that lineup as a whole and this line
specifically with Bobby Brink
who in this game as well very very heavy and hard on the puck I love
to see that from Brink's game Daniil Yarov
and Rieger Lawrence I want to see this line stick
together because I mean we saw
so much positivity from that tonight against Winnipeg is going to be
another good look and Michael Russo sums it up
once again perfectly here it's simply sensational
is the only way of putting it now with that being said
a few moves are likely going to be made with
the injuries Marcus Znaack on the IR retroactive
to last Thursday Tyler Pitlick was recalled to
give Minnesota an extra forward to fly to Winnipeg
so that is something to keep in mind but also we
don't really know about Nico Sturm what could happen
with him there may be some more options
But they don't have to make any more moves
because Matt Kirstepp, you know,
having to be sent down or whatever, Nico Sturm on the IR, if they do,
Tyler Pitlick is on the roster in Foligno's spot.
So they can, if they want to,
get another forward without having to make any more moves.
So maybe we see a Hunter Hayes, maybe we see someone else.
But it's going to be interesting to see.
John Hines said this against Vegas postgame last night.
You're not going to replace a player that left,
but you have to do it by committee.
So whatever happens, happens.
You need to fill in these holes.
you're giving players opportunity
but if Sturm doesn't return for tonight's game which i wouldn't
mind like i said if he doesn't we don't really know
for sure just yet you're going to have an
option of course Iga Lawrence is going
to be thrown in here and these are some old lines at
this point but having Iga Lawrence
in here probably Tyler Pitlick as well and these lines
would be reshuffled back to the Prez
of Ericson Boldy Coleman Shabunov Hartman you're all
Iga Lawrence Bobby Brink McCarron
um and you know whoever else would be there whether it is
would be Tyler Pitlick, and as well, Nico Sturm, or Yakov,
depending on how that all is going to look tonight.
So, folks, give me your thoughts on this.
Where do you think things are going to go from here?
Is this a positive sign?
Give me your thoughts on all of it.
We're currently in the lead in the Central.
Winnipeg, 3-1-1, though, good on the season.
Need to beat them here tonight.
So, give me your thoughts down below, folks.
What stood out most against Vegas,
and how do you think this needs to translate tonight against Winnipeg?
Depth scoring a special team.
Lawrence first point in the fight.
Really getting the energy going there.
