Southern California is bracing for more wildfires tonight.
It comes after six homes were destroyed during the Norte fire
on Friday. Natalie Chuck has the latest. We are seeing the impact
of the Norte fire has already had on this area over to my left.
You can see this is one of several homes that was damaged or destroyed
during the fire and then take a look right across the street.
You can see just how vast the impact has been.
All of this land completely scorched yesterday.
Neighbors watched as the land around them went up in flames. This
This fire moved extremely fast.
The call about a vegetation fire came in around 11:30
in the morning and by the early afternoon,
the fire had already spread to more than 450 acres.
It's now burned 570 acres
and is 5% contained at last update.
Cameras in the sky captured the moments
these homes were engulfed.
And again, at least six were damaged or destroyed.
There are now 750 personnel on scene.
That's up from the 400 here the night before.
We do know two firefighters were taken to hospitals,
but both are doing well, and one was released.
Officials with the Orange County Fire Authority say they knew
that the weather was going to be bad out here.
They were staffed for it and prepared,
but they credit the roughly 16,000 people
who were asked to evacuate with making their jobs a little easier.
So we've had some devastating fires in Southern California over
the years, and a lot of times it is difficult
to get our fire engines up into the neighborhood
because people, they're waiting to leave
or they leave too late and you have gridlock.
These people left right away
and we were able to save a lot more homes that way
and nobody got hurt, not one civilian injury.
Other fires are also burning
in Southern California after sparking over the last couple of days
from San Diego County up to Los Angeles County.
The Bryson Fire near Malibu has burned
just under 150 acres at last check,
but it is bringing up difficult memories
for people reminded of the Palisades fire up there
in 2025. More good news on that.
As of this morning, it is 52% contained. Red flag warnings
are set to expire tonight
and crews are just hoping to keep all of these fires at bay until
the weather improves. In Orange County,
California, Natalie Chuck, Fox News.
