3 cities to watch in B.C.'s Lower Mainland
Oct 18, 2026
We're going to be looking across this province,
but the biggest cities in Metro Vancouver
will get a little bit more attention,
starting, of course, with Vancouver, Ken Sim.
You'll see a star next to everyone
who's an incumbent seeking re-election,
and he certainly is,
facing a number of different challengers.
Pete Fry has been neck-and-neck with them in current polls,
but Kareem Alam, Rebecca Bly, and Colleen Hardwick
also hoping to put up a fight tonight.
In Surrey, B.C.'s second-largest city,
Mayor Brenda Locke also seeks re-election,
and there again, four main challengers
challengers are competing against her,
including past Mayor Doug McCallum, current Councillor
Linda Annis, former Councillor Mike Starczyk and Hanvir Randhawa,
former Conservative candidate
provincially and part of the small
but potentially important local Conservative parties across the
province tonight. And then in Richmond, we have a wide open field.
After 25 years, Malcolm Brodie
is not seeking re-election. Who's going to replace him tonight?
Well, there are a number of candidates
that could, including Kashid, Rob Howard, and Alexa Liu,
all affiliated with the B.C. Liberal Party at one point.
Heed and Howard, former B.C. Liberal MLAs,
Liu, a former candidate for them,
Dickens-Shung, and Mei Kang, also hoping to get into the race as well.
