AI GeneratedMeteorologist John Dawson reports a welcome shift to cooler, pleasant October weather across Southeast Texas after a period of unusually high temperatures. While the region enjoys a break from humidity, residents should expect continued breezy conditions and high ragweed pollen levels.
Well, Fox 26 is your Gulf Coast weather authority.
Here's meteorologist John Dawson.
John Dawson, it's giving leather weather, am I right?
I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say that before.
Leather weather.
It's always sweater weather, right?
You're not wearing leather today, are you?
I'm not.
No, okay, just looking there.
Yeah, it's totally leather weather or sweater weather.
It has changed.
It's so pleasant here across southeast Texas.
The last 31 days, look at all these above-average temperatures
that we've had we had one day before yesterday
and also before yesterday we had nine out of 10
days that was 90 degrees or more so not just above average
but well above average and that has
changed at least in the short term beautiful looking day outside
as we sort of begin to kind
of wind things up just a little bit 72 degrees
on the thermometer mostly clear skies still a little
bit of a breeze happening
though 13 mile an hour winds sustained winds out of the northeast still
that's drier air that's coming in very much again appreciated
a little bit of a break from the
humidity that we're so accustomed to some
of us haven't even got out of the 60s folks up in
Huntsville at 68 right now same thing over
in College Station we've got 69 in Columbus and
then lower 70s for the rest of us as it is again just
a very comfortable and cool I'll call it
day here in southeast texas an october day again
that definitely can be appreciated breezy off as
well though we have a few gusts that are in the 20s
but overall these winds will eventually start
to kind of start calming down a little bit as we get
into tomorrow it'll be very similar to what
we did this morning as far as those lows
so if you're in the 40s this morning then you'll
experience that again but less wind
so it might even feel just a little bit chillier if you were
up early this morning. Allergens are still a bit of a problem,
specifically the ragweed. It's still
very high. Didn't really get any rain with this front
to help wash things out. So we're just kind
of blowing all that pollen around a little bit with all the wind.
And I do want to let you know
that the National Hurricane Center
this afternoon decided it's going to start watching this area of
development off of the east coast.
For sure, there's going to be a nor'easter forming over here
And there is a slight chance if it lingers around some warmer
water too long, it could end up being something tropical.
No matter what, there's going to be a lot of rain, a lot of wind, a lot
of surf all along the East Coast as that storm continues to develop.
That's something that will be happening this week.
We'll be watching that.
But here locally, it's a pretty fantastic-looking
October seven-day stretch here.
We will be looking for that slow,
gradual warming trend once we get back into work on Monday.
