AI GeneratedThe speaker discusses the dilemma regarding Caleb Williams' return to the Chicago Bears lineup following a hamstring injury. He argues against rushing Williams back for the upcoming game against the Falcons due to the high risk of re-injury and a tight schedule, suggesting that the team should prioritize long-term health over a single game.
Caleb Williams is still officially listed
as questionable for this Sunday's game.
Now, with the Chicago Bears having to play this Sunday
and immediately have to turn around and play Thursday,
is this the best situation for Caleb, especially coming off the injury?
Is this the best game to even bring him back
or is a little more rest warranted?
And if you don't start, Caleb, if he doesn't play, who actually starts?
Let's talk about it.
Listen, if you're new to the show, I'm your boy,
PK Petty, Samantha Live.
this is the one and see the breeze giving you all
things chicago sports we appreciate everyone for
tuning in to the last video just want to run it back
and then keep the vibes high appreciate all
the support let's get into this real quick
because as we know caleb's been throwing some shots a
motivated caleb is probably really really going
to be exciting to see i can't wait to see him to
get back out there but i
also i actually want to err on the side of caution if i'm going to be
honest with you actually want to have
a moment where you have to do what's best for the team
man what's best for the player now if this was a regular Sunday
and we play again next Sunday
wouldn't have so many concerns right
but with him coming out off of a grade two grade two whoever
knows what the grade of this hamstring injury
was but significant enough for him to say it was
significant for whatever whatever grade it
was with him having that quick turnaround is this the
best situation for him considering we're talking about three teams
with decent defenses actually
not even decent especially
when you look at that seahawks uh that's immediate that's the next week
after uh the patriots seahawks defense it looks ridiculous despite
the fact that sam donald they
just gave through some bacon egg
and cheese twice to cost them that game the defense is what caleb
would have to be dealing with is this the best situation for him
and when you're talking about
rehab, when you're talking about actually stress testing
what he's gone through things of that nature
And I'll be honest with you, I am actually one
who errs on the side of caution when it
comes to this.
I don't think this is the game you bring him back.
I don't think this is the game that you take that risk simply
because, one, I do look at
the Falcons as a game that even with us having
as many injuries as we have, and even with
the up and down play with Tyson,
which we're getting to who the QB should be, you have
enough there to actually still win and compete in that game.
that's not the game where I would say that's a Caleb game.
That's a game where I would say, whether it's Tyson, whether it's,
whether it's, I don't know why I'm struggling with his name,
but I'm getting a second. Whether it's any of our QBs,
that's not the game where I feel like we,
we don't have enough to either edge out or win or be competitive.
If anything,
I think that will be a good example or a good opportunity for you.
Ben Johnson actually cleaned up a few things
and actually work on and kind of
rebuilding some confidence in those
players from that last beating that we just
guy from Green Bay that that's what I would look
at but ultimately it is still to protect the player
now many of you all in the last video have shared
that shared that same sentiment you do not want
or you do not want to risk future injury
or re-injury now if you listen to that video I've
actually brought out a couple points
from a grade two grade three uh hamstring tear or hamstring
injury and the likelihood of re-injury
and in fact the likelihood of re-injuring that is relatively
high especially coming uh going back
into high activity i'm not a doctor i'm not here to sit
there and pass any medical grade
or give any medical advice but again you have to look at
the time frame if it is severe enough it's like
a four to six week recovery most people err on the
side of six weeks we're literally at like four it
is something he's dealt with before and that was
like a a four-week recovery
but that was college not NFL I mean it's it's a lot riding on him being
healthy and him actually being able to perform to his best
and and being able to be mobile being
able to not have to worry about things uh
from that perspective actually helps I just don't see
it I personally don't see it I personally wouldn't want
to even put ourselves or him in that
situation because if he re-injures it
then you you you are legitimately looking at that that being
the season and I wouldn't want that on him
and I wouldn't wish that on anybody so that's where I
side because the just the statistics the numbers
and just the facts of a situation say
that the re-injury is high is is high
and likely probable I'm not saying it will happen we've seen
plenty of people you know come back and it'd be fine
and it work out but is that juice worth the
squeeze especially with the Falcons no now what I will say
if this was a different situation cool
but nah that's just not the case
the quick turnaround doesn't seem worth it let him rest
let him actually still continue to do uh treatment
and be ready for playing on Thursday as opposed to
Sunday but that's my thoughts let me know yours
to put in the chat I would love to see it put in
the comments we would love to see what
your thoughts are because again everyone is up in air
and he is still listed as questionable
which means there is a chance that he does not play
whether and that's all depending on what the team says
and what their doctors and ultimately Ben
Johnson makes that call now let's roll
into our second point of this, Ben Johnson says Caleb isn't
going to be ready or decides to err on the side
of caution whatever the case may be and Caleb does
not play, who does Ben Johnson go to? Now I've
been very critical of Ben in his decision making
uh especially in that Green Bay Packers game, it
was clear that Tyson wasn't, wasn't it? It was clear
that Tyson wasn't, I'm not gonna say Tyson wasn't ready
to say Tyson wasn't ready would mean that
that's, I think that would be insulting
But whatever reason didn't translate to the field,
because they say he practiced where he looked good
he looked good throughout the week of work
but it didn't translate to the field
and so if it doesn't translate to the field
then whatever the reason is, listen
it's I know it's a long season, but it's only so many games.
you can't have it. And ultimately, I do feel like we had a chance
to still be competitive and a chance to actually still win and compete.
if he had made the decision to move Tyson early
and that's just where he is
Case actually made the offense look a lot better
The offense was fluid.
I mean, Case just had the experience
Case just wasn't the – he already was riding on a high
from an impeccable first game out in which he looked like a stud
I think you should have rolled that hot hand
but, again, I do understand going to Tyson because Tyson was QB2
you can't just you know lose your your spot
because of injury he did have a concussion
but it was clear by by halftime that Tyson didn't have it
and and yes i i totally understand i
had a stroke early and forgot Case's name
but anyway i got it now you you have to you you
should have pulled that plug on him earlier
and i you don't want to kill his confidence you don't
want to you know send the wrong message
and you actually don't want to tank his value if you
actually did want to use him as a trade piece before
the deadline on the 10th but i mean right
now we're talking about winning games and staying
and staying competitive you have to make a decision
that's best for the team and i think he kind
of whiffed on that one so when it comes to this one
i i'm going with Case i mean honestly you put you
put Tyson out there didn't look good the game full
game he did play i mean it was it
was about everyone says four i'm gonna give him some
grace i'm gonna give him the benefit
of the doubt i'm gonna say he had three passes that looked
really bad and were almost turnovers two
that definitely should have been i'm gonna give him
some grace nah if not we we can't do it you can't
do it it is one of those things where you have to
pick up the morale you actually have
to you actually have to put out good tape and Tyson
didn't have good tape Tyson had horrible tape
and you threw you threw Case out there cold fourth
quarter at that point it was like why you could
have he could have had all first half to kind of
get into a rhythm and things
of that nature you threw him out there at a moment where you know
the green bay packers literally just digging
in and sinking their teeth into it you you can't do
that so for me it's case without question it's going to be case uh
and if i'm uh going to be
honest with you it's not it's not only case
but it's actually it's going to be case and it's
actually going to be a offense that's running
a lot through uh Luther Burden as well because
i do understand i'm not quite sure what
the report is i think i was back i did i didn't
i think i just whipped on them i think i was back
but even if that's not the case you know
case is getting the ball out quickly he's finding him
and luther's actually made himself available
i have a wrong video coming out you see how i feel
about him ultimately he has to actually show up as
well so I think it's going to be a great opportunity
to kind of see the offense clicking again getting
some fluidity things of that nature
but I can't I don't see it ever being a situation which you go
immediately back to Tyson unless I made the week of preparation
and Ben just feels confident but
then again let's be honest with what you've seen
from Tyson if Ben was to roll him out there would
your opinion on Ben change it's possible I don't
think you have I don't think you can risk it if
Ben Johnson but I'm not the coach I don't get I get paid
to do this I don't get paid to coach a
football team but we'll see what happens it's always bear down
no matter who's out there we're
going to root for them and so we we actually
do anticipate it being a competitive game I have a
lot of friends that actually made the trip
so they they are down there repping in full effect let's
go out there bear down let me get your predictions
of what the score will be in the comments I'll be
in there with you till next time peace
