In Switzerland: Touring a Modern Monolithic Concrete Villa in the Woods | Celoria Architects

Immersed in the lush vegetation of Monte Generoso in Mendrisio, Switzerland, "La Casa nel Bosco" by Celoria Architects is a striking exposed concrete residence built on the foundations of an old family cellar. Reinterpreting the site's memory, the house rises like a minimalist monolith carved into the mountain, evoking cave-like solidity while seamlessly reflecting the changing forest light.
Spread across three levels, the home features private bedrooms on the lower floor, a social middle level with custom dining spaces, and a panoramic upper open space offering 360-degree forest views. Four central structural blocks house technical services to eliminate corridors, while natural light flows through a central skylight, custom votive-like lighting fixtures, and satin champagne window frames.
Complete with a jointless monolithic heated floor inspired by Palladian villas, this Swiss architectural masterpiece explores a new way of living: essential, contemplative, and deeply rooted in nature.
