It just doesn't STOP... - Something big is brewing
Oct 17, 2026
You thought it was over but it's not yet.
The Spurs continue to make some training camp moves
with the season just a few days away.
We're still taking some people, waving some people and our
newest signing Kendall Brown is going to bolster what
is an already stacked Spurs system but we're
not ending right there. We
also have to look into some of the players how they've been playing so
far but most importantly one guy
who's been getting the attention of pretty much everyone
that is Jacoby Gillespie but not just the fans the coaches
and the players as well and a note
on Carter Bryant and he says what separates him
is one specific aspect of his mentality and when
I show you what he said he did over this summer
and how he worked on his game he's going to be
very very very scary for years to come we're going
to dive into all of that and more coming up in
this episode of Spurs Digest I'm very excited
to get into the Carter Bryant stuff but we got to
start out hot as we always
do the Spurs make another signing Brian Wright just can't help
himself other teams are like finally cluing up
their roster the Spurs are sending guys down but
No, here we go. Kendall Brown, he signed.
This was like a few hours ago.
The Spurs have signed Kendall Brown to a training camp contract.
Spurs roster back up to 19 players.
Reminder, you have 15 standard roster spots.
You have three two-way spots, and then you have the other spots.
Now, considering the Spurs still have a standard spot open,
we have 14 standard spots, three two-ways taken.
That's 17, so we still have John Elmore,
and now Kendall Brown added to the list of 19 players.
Here's Kendall Brown.
He played a bit in the summer league there.
you can see in july he played a few games with the pacers back
but he has a little bit of nba
experience the shot is not really the thing
that he's known for in transition he's quite solid
pretty athletic kind of a three slash four average 16
and five in the g league with 1.2 steals 0.5
blocks which i really don't mind
and the spurs are now just again bolstering this unbelievable
team in austin i genuinely cannot believe what i'm looking
at right now um actually i don't even
think this includes Kendall Brown.
This does include John Elmore, who is here above David
Jones-Garcia, but he really shouldn't be.
It doesn't really matter. Once you're past Steph
Castle, the two guard doesn't really matter too much anyway.
But the thing is, I thought the
Spurs would be done all their moves,
but they're continuing to do it. And it just shows that
there's a lot, a lot, a lot of thought going
into this whole team's roster right now. And I include
Austin in that because it is really a pipeline.
And there's one guy that's trying to break out
of there, but before we get into Jacoby Gillespie,
the Spurs are ready to do something huge this
year. 55 plus wins, I think it's more than possible.
$25, nets you 34 on Kalshi. This video
is brought to you by Kalshi, where you're
trading against other users, not the house,
like traditional sportsbooks. You're buying yes
or no contracts on real life events, like
the weather. It's really rainy where I am right now,
like politics, like sports. How about best
regular season record? It's something that I've
been talking about a lot, $25, nets you 75. So if

And you might have gotten the hint
that I'm talking about Jacoby Gillespie.
Looking very stern here in this picture.
Oh, very, very much like it.
But Jacoby Gillespie, we know what he's been doing.
We know how, how, how good he has been.
25 points in one game.
And even the last game, I forget exactly how many,
but it was in the teens.
And he just looks good, though.
That's the thing.
And you're starting to see other fans.
You're seeing NBA analysts on Twitter,
like whole league analysts saying, like, the Spurs
might have got another one with Jacoby Gillespie.
And now the team is also talking about it, man.
And the one thing that Harrison Barnes had
to say about him, I think it just gets me
a little more excited than other things.
And that's his shooting.
Because if you can be a good shooter, man,
you can make the NBA roster way easier.
Harrison Barnes and Jacoby Gillespie, he can really shoot it.
After practice, we do our little shooting games.
The first couple of days,
I was like, he's shooting that thing a little bit.
His confidence has continued to grow.
He's going to be a good player.
Hey, but it's not just the players.
You guys are talking about this in the comments.
The Fab 0075.
If only the Spurs signed Jacoby
for normal contract instead of a two-way contract, I
think Jacoby can be so valuable during the playoffs.
And here's the thing.
This is why we're talking about it,
because you can still convert his contract.
You can still convert this to a standard contract.
Now, a lot of times that doesn't happen until
the regular season starts for reasons that
I don't fully understand, but you often won't
see them converted before the start of the
season, so we'd probably have to wait until a couple games in,
but it's interesting, right?
Like, he's been really good.
If Harrison Barnes says you're a good shooter,
you're probably a good shooter, and we can
take a look in that Jazz game reminder,
25 points with four threes made, and like, so
far in camp, he's been kind of rolling.
Like, he's been really rolling.
So, well, actually, you can't see his stats here,
but this is what he, this is where his
stats are going to be.
That's a holding place for his stats in the future,
but I mean, Harrison Barnes, like,
We know how good he has been in certain moments.
You can see, look, he's not going
to be the best defender at this point,
not going to get the most rebounds
with the team's offensive rating, net rating.
Unreal, but he's on the floor.
He's a guy that spots up a ton, plays actually well in transition.
And if you can learn anything from him, hey,
I mean, the shooting does keep you around,
even if you're a bit past your prime.
So I'm very excited for the next chapter of Jacoby Gillespie.
And we also have one more comment I want to show.
Gillespie for the final spot, then trade for a good backup center.
Keep Reed, remove Cornette.
This is Wade Robinson from the last video we did
a little poll on what you would do if you were the
Spurs and the option, hey you think Gillespie will make
that final spot, what do you guys think
leave your thoughts on all that down below, final thing
though I got to get into our boy
Carter Bryant, this guy has been saying all
the right things, he is ready for a breakout season
and I, I don't know if it's going to result
in a most improved player kind of thing I just I don't
know if the scoring numbers will be there
but that's not what you need, regardless though he's
trying, he absolutely is trying, he shot a thousand shots
a day, he got that Kobe mentality, now chasing
Kobe maybe isn't the best way to say
that, but you know still he, he's chasing that mentality using it
as fuel and I'll get into what he had to say here, he
was having 4 a.m. workouts, his first workout was
four in the morning, then he was going
at seven, come back home, go back to the workout about three
four o'clock and I'll go shoot in the evening.
Does that sound like Kobe to you? Now, Kobe's not
even close to any of my favorite players of all time.
Probably not for most of you guys either.
I have a certain disdain towards Kobe Bryant,
but what I don't have a disdain for is his insane
work ethic. And if you can take one thing from Kobe,
this is what I would say it is. I was a
Kobe Bryant guy. That's what he had to say
when he was talking about his 1000 shots a day that he
was taking. 4 a.m. workouts, he said, actually,
does the quote even include the fact he said he
was shooting a thousand shots a day, it doesn't
but he was, he was shooting a thousand shots a day
he said when he's in the game he's trying
to be a ceiling raiser, I love this floor raiser versus
ceiling raiser style thing floor raiser are just
these volume scorers whatever ceiling raisers guys
you plug them in on any team and they will make
them better he said how can i make the group better
when i'm on the floor how can i be important how can i
be valuable on the defensive end
and here at the end of last year the scoring started
to climb up just uh just a little bit
a couple games now look I know I I know
that in the last few games he was getting more run but
like this is kind of the example that I think could become
the norm whoa one second my camera
seemed to think that this won't become the norm for Carter Bryant
but I fixed it I am more powerful
than the machines so that's the AI they don't want to hear that stuff
but the team's defense is just
going to be so unbelievable especially if Carter can step up
and even get some of these kind of
scoring performances I did have one final thing I wanted
to say on the team defense though and
that's something when Wembanyama had to say people
asked him about being the best defender in the
world and he said the standard isn't being the best
on the planet anymore sort of subtly implying
or not so subtly that he is the best defender on the planet
and if anyone disagrees with you
they are dumb don't say that to their face you
can just think it you can silently judge people
try not to do it i'm not going
to give you life advice say something to him if you want
it's being better than last year i mean it
is isn't it he is the best on the planet how far
can you take that and especially
at his age man like Victor Wembanyama now let's just bring up his
stats here i'll bring up his playoff stats being
better than last year is all you can ask for
because if the spurs as a whole
are just slightly better than last year just slightly in certain
areas especially like maybe in the last two minutes
of fourth quarters they're a championship
team straight up they're a 60 plus win championship team
if they are slightly better than last year
and who knows how much better Wemby can get
these were the playoff numbers i think you can sort even
higher.
But what do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts on all that
down below. That'll do it, though, for this episode. Thank you for
tuning in every single day. I've been your host, Josh Goss,
and I will catch you all for the next one.
